Street Fighter 4!?!?!?*%?!?!!?

So, apparantly, Capcom will be debuting Street Fighter 4 at Jamma or something like that in Japan. Going to be running on the AtomisWave hardware instead of CPS4 (does that mean we'll see emulation faster?)

Anyway:

There are already a few things known about SF4.

1) It will in fact be 2D

2) Ryu will be the only (classic) returning character

3) They have begun to work on it

4) The game will come out when Capcom celbrates SF's 20th Anniversary, which wont be till 2007 or 2008 (depending if you go by the US or Japanese anniversary of SF)

All of these things have either been stated in interviews, or at shows, by various Capcom employees or represenitives.

Rumors:

- The 2D Animation will rival most animated shows or movies

- Mel Masters (Ken' son) will make an appearence

- Based on a leaked concept sketch, Ryu will have a new look (3 diffrient versions of Ryu appeared in the sketch, all had diffrient gis, but they all had an unshaved [but not a beard] look to them)

I read "Street Fighter 4" in production, and my brain went *pop*.

The only downside I see is that it will come out in arcades in 2008. So it will be quite a while before we get a homeversion.

Street Fighter is old and boring. They lost my interest a looooooooong time ago, right after Cammy, the Bruce Lee dude, and somebody else were introduced. I'm all about KoF now.

Too little too late. They should have debuted SF4 LAST YEAR at the latest to stay relevant.

I mean, look at KoF. They have new shit out all the time.

As for staying 2D, GOOD. All of the 3D SF games are crap in comparison to their 2 D stuff. Also, the 3D characters tended to be pretty lackluster for the most part (wouldn't mind seeing a 2D Crackerjack or Skullomania, though).

Course whenever you ask Capcom anything about Street Fighter 4 it's always a Shrug and Maybe....

Personally i don't want another Street Fighter with just 1 Returning Character and 20 new Characters..

Projectiles in 3d fighting games traditionally don't work, with the one exception I can think of being Power Stone, but they were barely used then.

In 1989 (I think) the original Street Fighter came out.

Between 1991 and like 1997, there were 4678435698765 versions of Street Fighter 2.

In 1995 (I think) Street Fighter Alpha (AKA Street Fighter Zero), the prequel of the series, came out. There have been 2 sequels (yes, sequels of the prequel) since then (technically 3 since there was a Gold version on Alpha 2).

In 1999 SF 3 came out and there were 2 other versions of it shortly after.

Sometime between 1996 and 1999 a few 3D (mostly crap) SF games came out under the Street Fighter EX series. Also in this time period the Puzzle Fighter series started. It featured super deformed versions of the characters and some strategy shit involving collecting gems for super moves.

Oh yeah, there were a bunch of VS spinoff games (X-Men VS Street Fighter, Marvel Superheroes VS Street Fighter, Capcom VS SNK 1 & 2, SNK VS Capcom, etc).

Then there was the movie game...:nono:

Yeah, I'm probably missing a bunch of shit, but that's mostly it.
