I hate Truman Show. Thought it was really gay. Probably not bad by any means I just hated it. How much of a dumbass do you have to be? I know its a movie but the concept is pretty wtf.

Jersey Girl and Spanglish both sucked dick. Fuck Ben Affleck - they didn't even give George Carlin any good lines. Spanglish was alright, I mean, Sandler did a great job, but his wife was fucking horrible and annoying throughout - not to mention there wasn't even a true ending. It was a major, major, major step down from As Good As It Gets for Mel Brooks.

lol. I know. It's just a movie that I don't think gets enough credit. Sure when it came out people talked about it but now, nothing. Just my experience from working in a video store and recommending it to people, and surprisgingly they have never even heard of it. Makes me angry.
Plus, the fact that Titanic beat it out for Best Picture when L.A. was clearly the better film, IMO.

Yeah but Titanic was gonna win no matter what.
Still though it won somethinbg like 67 various awards the year it came out. Still hard to put it in a list of under-appreicated movies.

Yeah fair enough, the term underrated is highly subjective anyway.

I concur. This topic actually reminded me of the top 20 most OVERRATED movies list recently published in Premiere magazine. Clearly a list composed simply for amusement and to spark some sort of discussion, simply by some of the movies on it. I actually agree with some, others not. Totally subjective.
I refuse to Rosk.

Krull-Rep for anyone who even knows what the hell this is.
Krull was the "Dungeons and Dragons" movie. Ken Marshall (like he's been in anything else) played Prince Colwyn. Has one of the coolest/weirdest weapons in ANY movie: the five-bladed "light up" sword.

Annihilation of Fish - underrated 'cause...it was never released in theaters or on video. Got to see a print at the Central Michigan International Film Festival. Totally worth it if you can find it. James Earl Jones = greatness
A Knight's Tale - the most fun movie I've seen in the last five years. Seriously.
The Recruit - a little better known (and more recent), but a good spy/secret agent flick with some decent characters.
Three O'Clock High - I had never even heard of this until a friend showed it to me. Awesome '80s teen movie. Think "High Noon" meets "The Breakfast Club."
Oh, and love for Kapoutman choosing "UHF." I adore that movie. Set aside the fact that I'm a Weird Al mark for a second, it's still worth it because Michael Richards was so incredibly funny. I'm still waiting for a network to pick up "Conan The Librarian."

For movies out right now I'm gonna say The Dukes of Hazzard not because it's necessarily a great film (it's not). It's just that it's getting absolutely trashed by everyone and I can't figure out exactly why, it doesn't have the usual poor low brow humour that most comedies that get trashed like this have, it's not really a terrible film at all, it's rather fun, not fantastic, not good just fun.

Krull - i suppose theres some sort of spoilers, though.. it was made in like 1987 so i dunno why anyone would bitch about spoilers :D
A movie about a young prince who's whole kingdom pretty much gets fucked up by some evil demon lord and steals the princes girlfriend. old guy comes to the kingdom, goes with prince to retreive glaive, prince proceeds to shove hand into molten lava to retrieve glaive.
they run into some crazy ass shit magician who can turn himself into animals, he played the teacher in willy wonka for those who need a visual reference, old man tells the prince the only way they can get his woman back is to find the demon lords dark citadel, which moves to a different location every day, so they go to some old seer guy for help, Emerald seer or whatever.
before the old man they run into some bandits and team up with them because the prince promises them freedom, yadda yadda yadda, CYCLOPSES AGHH!, they go into a quicksand marsh, OH NO HE HAS BLACK EYES! AGH!, yadda yadda, prince fucks up demon and they all live happily ever after.

I also think Dare Devil is way underrated. If you have not seen the Director's Cut on DVD go rent it right now. Go! This version is soooo much better than the theatrical version. Things that were kind of, "Ok, now why did they do that?" in the theatrical version now make sense and there's a bit more to the characters. As the first poster said Dare Devil is not the best movie ever but its still better (especially the director's cut) than people give it credit for.

Creepshow 2: I know it's not as good as the first, but it's a fun little movie if you give it a chance. Also, The 1st one who got pulled into the lake by the oil slick thing in "The Raft" was one of the hottest women alive (for her time) :D

I agree with a lot of the movies I've seen posted. Additionally:
Anaconda, Battlefield Earth- you can't rate an action movie for its plot. Both movies had badass action.
Zig-Zag- critics just said it was "ok" This movie kicks ass.

I'll post more if I think of them.

I definitely agree with UHF, it's a funny movie
devil's rejects - simply becuase one of the best movies I've seen in years & you ask 10 people nobody will have seen if they have heard of it to begin with.
I think action movies today are very underrated I personally don't care about plot i just want action & explosions. Plots just get in the way. Keeping with that theme...
XXX:state of the union - "Welcome to the first ever tank jacking"
Any Steven Siegel direct to video movie in the last few years (exit wounds, half past dead etc..)
Substitute 2,3,4 much better than the first one in my opinion. 4 is the best one of the series.

Eurotrip beats Road Trip because it's actually...You know, funny. People pan Daredevil for the wrong reasons IMO (Not that it doesn't have some reasons to slam it, but I think people are too anal). Krull. I own the movie and the book (Not sure if it's a novelisation or if the movie was based off it ) somewhere...Does that count?

2 things. 1, it's not that hard to create a .WAV file so your computer will say "Mail motherfucker."
2. New Rule: A movie cannot be underrated if it is either critically acclaimed or wins awards. We're not talking a Sundance Film Festival winner, people. This is like calling Shakespeare an obscure writer or Green Day underground. I don't care how much you love Star Wars or Eminem, they're not underappreciated. In fact, they're both making their creators money hand over fist.

Also would like to add Boondock Saints. I don't think it went to theatres because of it being released about the same time columbine happened, so they cancelled the theatre premier or something? At least, that's what I've heard. But, it's one of my favorite movies ever.
