I dunno what it is about Paul Wall, but I think he's raw as fuck. He's not the best lyricist or anything, but I like his style.

"Say cheese and show my fronts, more carrots than Bugs Bunny's lunch"

What do you think?

His lyrics are pretty weak but his flow is nice. He's alright. There are definitely much worse rappers out in the commercial game right now. And yeah, he does say "what it do" or "whut it dew" way too much.

He is chill with Mike Jones, of course he is going to overuse something. That being said, I like his style.

I dont mind his stuff. Its not like my favorite but his flow is cool. Same with Mike Jones - Mikes Jones rapping his cell# into that song was sick though

If you listen to the album, he raps his number in almost every song. And it's not like he does it creatively, either. It's the same line every time.

"281-330-8004, hit Mike Jones up on the low, cause Mike Jones about to blow"

But somehow, I still don't mind him.

There's a song on Kanye West's new album featuring Paul Wall called "Drive Slow", and it's ill as shit, tbh.

And by 5-10 years behind I mean look at No Limit and Cash Money.. They were huge down here way before they hit big.. Same with OutKast.. Same with this "get crunk" lil Jon shit.. Same with "Screwed"..

So yeah, 5-10 years behind us..

Anybody Thrilla
08-28-2005, 05:46 PM
They were huge down there because they started down there. You have to spread out. Of course you're gonna be big in your own area before you get big in other areas.

Only one out of that group I would call a classic is Outkast. I like the rest of them, but they didn't produce classic albums. OutKast was a mistake though, they have produced some classics.

Personally I dont think the "Dirty South" can hold a candle to New York but maybe that's just me

Over hype? This whole thread has been people saying that he's not the best, but he's tolerable. That's a terrible hype job if I've ever seen one.

Sorry you live closer to Paul Wall than I do. My B.

Kris P Lettus
08-28-2005, 08:51 PM
Ner..

He has been over hyped on MTV and radio along with Mike Jones..

I don't really care, just gets old really quick..

Z-Ro is the tightest motherfucker out of Houston. "Mo City Don" is the best freestyle I've ever heard and his song "The Mule" with Devin the Dude and Juvenile is just badass.

Lil' Wayne is growing on me, and I haven't listened to a lot of newer BG, but that "I Want It" song is hot to death.

The Cash Money Millionaires were the shit back in the summer of 1999. They ushered in the "bling-bling" era with their "Bling Bling" song. Unfortunately, that's like one of the very few good "bling-bling" songs.

Anybody Thrilla
08-29-2005, 06:43 PM
That song isn't even really that good. The beat is just super hot.

Lotus
08-30-2005, 01:37 PM
Yeah, now that I think of it, the lyrics and flow were shitty as hell. At the time though, it sounded like the shit.

I hate No Limit, but that song kicked ass. I love that song. TRU baby. Like the only song they made, but it was nice.

Kris P Lettus

OutKast said "hooody hooo" first, FYI..

Track 15 of SouthernPlayalistic, cirta 1994..

Lotus

Ah, ok. I guess I would be too young for that, even though I started listening to Snoop back in '93... Well, the first time I heard "hooody hooo" was in that TRU song. #1 on the Rap City Top 10 for weeks.
