Ring of Honor live event report

Williamsville, N.Y. at Armherst Pepsi Center

I just returned from the ROH show at the Amherst Pepsi Center in Williamsville, N.Y., and wanted to give you my thoughts. First of all, lemme just say that this is only the second Ring of Honor show I've attended live, and for the second time in a row they did not disappoint.
Attendance was down from the last show, but the crowd was just as loud, if not louder. Here are some quick results:
(1) In the opener, Ricky Reyes pinned Puma. Typical opener; nothing spectacular, but also nothing wrong with it.
(2) Chad Collyer defeated Jimmy Jacobs and Kevin Steen and Davey Andrews in a Four-Way Scramble when he pinned Andrews. Decent match, but again nothing memorable.
(3) Homicide pinned El Generico with a lariat. Stiff match. Homicide basically beat the hell out of Generico for a good 10 minutes. Generio looked pretty banged up after the match.
It was announced that Christopher Daniels couldn't make the show due to bad travel arrangements. But a more than suitable "replacement" was announced.
(4) Curry Man defeated Shingo Takagi with a roll up. Entertaining as hell. The surprise appearance from Curry Man probably got the biggest pop of the night. Daniels is the complete opposite when he plays the Curry Man character, and is really quite humorous.
(5) In the disappointment of the night, Nigel McGuniess defeated Samoa Joe to win the Pure Title. The whole booking of this match made no sense. First off, it appeared Joe was allowed 4 rope breaks, one from penalty and three other. Second, half way into the match Nigel hit Joe with a chair, but was DQ'd, but rather charged a rope break. The match ended when Nigel pinned Joe when Joe tried to use a break he didn't have. Not one of the better Samoa Joe matches.
Intermission
(6) The Ring Crew Express defeated Shane Hagadorn & some other jobber. Nothing special. After the match Chris Daniels ran to the ring an apologized for missing his match. Funny stuff again.
(7) Spanky & Jimmy Rave defeated Austin Aries & Roderick Strong when Alex Shelley hit Aries with a wooden chair. One of the better matches of the night. Really awesome stuff. Strong and Aries were really over, as were Spanky and Rave as heels. Strong reminds me of a young Chris Benoit more and more. He really shows the potential to be something special. After the match, Aries challenged The Embassy to a no holds barred rematch at the next show. Later in the show, it was announced Abyss would team with the Embassy for that match.
(8) CIMA defeated A.J. Styles. Awesome. Not much else to say. Stiff kicks, awesome aerial moves, and great wrestling from these two. They brought down the house tonight and the crowd totally ate it up. Probably the best match I've ever seen live.
(9) James Gibson defeated Colt Cabana to retain the ROH World Title. Another decent match, not spectacular, but still a good match. Gibson won with his front face choke submission.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty surprised to see Joe lose the Pure Title to Nigel McGuniess. What's some good matches to download from him? I've only recently started keeping up with ROH, and I've started to hear a lot of good things about him. Any opinions, or recommendations?
I bet Curry Man/Tagaki was gold. Does he actually wrestle as Curry Man over seas when he goes any more?
For some reason I thought Gibson would lose to Cabana, since Gibson's leaving soon, but I guess I was wrong. Any predictions on who he'll drop it to? I really have no idea. I've heard alot about Roderick Strong and Jimmy Rave.
