Update On A Possible TNA Video Game In The Works
Report by TNA Wrestling News Staff on 09/04/2005 at 11:03 AM

TNA is said to be very close to finalizing a video game deal. The company has hinted at offers from other companies in the past two years or so. The reason for the delay reportedly had to do with Dixie Carter not feeling they were the best deals for the company.

It was reported that Bill Banks had originally put a message in his new "Bank Shot" column for this week that TNA was going to make an official announcement regarding the video game deal at the Unbreakable PPV on September 11th, but that comment was later pulled as the company still isn't sure when they will announce it. Spike TV would be a nice forum however

THQ is the best at licensed wrestling games. What are we going to get, an updated Attitude engine?

what's wrong with that? That happened 4 years ago. I think it's ok to put a PPV on that day.

Plus it's called Unbreakable (I dunno what's wrong with that, but you know someone, somewhere will take offense  )

If they get AKI to do it, the results would be good.

No, everything must be stopped everywhere, because of the loss of a couple thousand US lives. It's a national holiday, and if you do errands, the terrorists win!

And AKI only said they weren't doing any more WWE wrestling games.

I don't know. Reading the Smackdown vs Raw thread and the outcry over the wrestlers that are/aren't on that, a TNA game might be weird what with their history of an ever changing roster.

I'd like to see it, regardless.

I remember hearing after Rumble Roses came out for PS2, that THQ was interested in transferring that game's engine to a non-WWE wrestling game. I dunno any more, though...

If they were smart enough they would leave it open to downloadable roster updates. Not only would that solve the problem but it would put them a step ahead over the WWE series and that's the foot in the door they need.

Just for shits and giggles, let's say this game were to come out in six months, and they were finalizing the roster right now. You get forty guys. What's your roster?

Mine (because I'm a roster geek):

"A1" Alistair Ralphs
Abyss
AJ Styles
Alex Shelley
"Alpha Male" Monty Brown
Amazing Red
Andy Douglas
Apolo
BG James
Bobby Roode
Chase Stevens
Chris Harris
Chris Sabin
Eric Young
"Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels
James Mitchell
James Storm
Jeff Hardy
Jeff Jarrett
Jerry Lynn
Jimmy Hart
Johnny Devine
Kevin Nash
Kip James
Konnan
Lance Hoyt
Matt Bentley
Petey Williams
Primetime
Raven
Rhino
Ron Killings
Sabu
Samoa Joe
Sean Waltman
Shark Boy
Shocker
Simon Diamond
Sonjay Dutt
Sonny SiakiThere is serious potential in a TNA game if whoever develops it keeps the gameplay at a high tempo. When I had a bunch of TNA guys created in HCTP, it was odd to watch, because all the X guys were a step or two too slow. Can you imagine a game with the Canadian Destroyer, New School, and the Stroke? :shifty:

Really the biggest thing wrong with putting a PPV on Sept 11th this year is that football season starts that day. Woo!

If EA got their hands on it, it might be good. EA's Def Jam Vendetta used a modified version of the old N64 games engine. I'm not sure who actually owns the rights to the engine these days, but EA seems to be able to get their hands on it.

AKI made DJV.

AKI has the rights to the engine.

AKI also made the FFNY engine.

I liked back stage assault you could take 100 pound weights and murder people with them.
