The quality of wrestling in the big time sure has taken a dramtic turn for the worse. Not just in the fact that wrestlers have been asked to limit themselves in the ring and alter their styles, but in who they hire and actually push.
Take last nights Raw for example. We had a women's match, with one chick who has barely had any training, and another who has had years of it, yet is still a worthless piece of shit. She cant cut a promo, nor can she wrestle even the most basic of matches.
I recall a time when the wwe would show us ads on tv with a wrestler telling people like us to "please, dont try this at home". Why? Cuz they're the pros, leave it to them. Well frankly, some of them are not pros. We should be sending the same message out to some of these hosses and divas that can barely get by a 4 minute match. That women's match last night looked worse then some basement matches I've seen friends get involved in.
How does a chick with zero in ring experience get pushed to the big show, and get a match so soon? She was bound to suck. How does another still have a job when she cant yet carry a girl( and it is a sad thing that a "pro" needs to be carried for a 3 minute match) to a watchable match when she has been in training for years.
In my line of work, if at review time, or whenever else, you have not been performing up to par, you get sacked. Torrie and a few others, not just chicks, need to be sacked.
I can only imagine what great wrestlers, who have busted their asses to get where they are, and be how great they are, must think of this when they see it. A real slap in the face. They must want to puke.
There are so many great wrestlers yet still unsigned, or on Heat, or wherever else..and they dont even get a second glance. Yet this company, the supposed "big time"..doesnt seem to want to hire big time stars. They prefer the bottom of the barrel.
It's almost like having the NFL or whatever top pro league, drafting entire B list players. Same thing.
I believe you shouldnt even be in the ring until you can at least execute the basics, and then even still, you should know more then that. The chicks they hire sure dont.
That search needs to stop.
We've grown accustomed to thinking this is actually where pro wrestling is at, when in fact, it shouldnt be at all. Half the roster does not have pro skill.
What a sad stae of affairs.:n:

No, seriously, you're right. I'm pissed off that the WWE thinks I'm impressed by two of these chicks rolling about on the floor. Its embarassing and cringe-worthy. I can't imagine how pissed off the wrestlers (who've grafted their entire lives to get to the WWE) are watching these two amateurs hired on the basis of their superficial looks taking their television time. In fact, no... I feel more sorry for the 15 or so wrestlers who were recently fired on the basis there was nothing for them to do. Charlie Haas, Akio, Shannon Moore, Billy Kidman, the Dudleyz, Matt Morgan and Kevin Fertig are all out of jobs because the creative team spent more time promoting the Diva Search and developing stories and characters for these Divas instead of finding them gimmicks, angles and storylines.

Thats been my approach for the last 6 weeks. Velocity is the only show I watch on a semi-regular basis and the last PPV I watched (other than ONS) was No Way Out.

It's just baffling really. How are you going to send a guy like CM Punk down to ovw, a guy who knows his shit in the ring inside and out by now, and yet allow women and others matches on their top program already, with barely any knowledge at all? They dont even have the basic fundamentals down yet.
I recall Benoit once stating that training to become a wrestler takes years of dedication to. He needed to learn how to even fall numerous times to protect himself before moving on to the more flashy shit. Just the basics itself take a lot of dedicated practice time.
A girl like Ashley may become good, but she imo right now, needs at least half a year to even put on a basic 5 minute match.
Torrie on the other hand, wrestling just isnt in her blood. She is not cut out for it. Some people are just not meant to do certain things. I cant be a doctor, she cant be a wrestler. She;'s been there for years, yet cant even make a girl like ashley in 3 minutes look somewhat decent.
I dont blame her fully though. I blame the bookers for booking her to do that for ashley, and I blame the people in charge for not accepting that Torrie is shit.
Tomko could use some serious work as well. He has some major near misses in the ring.

Zen-its amazing its taken you that long to realise this.We all know the diva search thing is stupid, last night was proof of that, i had to switch over during that segment because it was crap, two times when i switched back to see if it had finished, I saw the new girl fuck two things up. The first was the pin she tried on torrie, the next was when she was being pinned and forgot to kick out(atleast i think thats what happened-it was too embaressing for me to check if thats what really happened though)
And this is what they wasted $250,000 on.Pretty fucking sad if you ask me.

I Bit Torrent WWE PPV's and the infrequent RAW's and SD's that appear to have some entertainment value.
I watched RAW for the first time in months last night. I only saw the last half of the show. I turned it on and the match Zen is speaking about was on. :nono: Then some really ugly wrestler and Garrison Cade are trying to be a less talented (and gayer) America's Most Wanted tag team. Then I watch Shawn Michaels last 5-8 minutes in the Master Lock Challenge. The funny part is it was actually entertaining but I could not keep my mind off the fact that every other wrestler put into the hold is knocked out cold within 3 seconds but Shawn Michaels can withstand the hold for 8 minutes (yes and exaggeration of time but it was a long time).

you can't pin all the blame on the new girl. Torrie reallyhas no excuse. How freakin long has she been in the biz? How freakin long has she been training?
Look at last week. Ashley was in teh match with Victoria. It was at least tolerable. Why? cause Vicky knows her stuff and can execute them, even against someone who doesn't know her craft that well.
Torrie ont he other hand is just a blonde bimbo that has been doin nothing but walking around in bikinis, doing bikini contests and all sorts of other lame crap. Put Torrie in there with any diva that can actually wrestle and Torrie would fail. Just like Stacy. I mean Stacy all she can do is that leg choke to show her leg. That's it.
Really there rea those that can actually wrestle like Victoria and Trish, then there are those that should be willing to learn lie Christy and Ashley,t hen there are those that flat out can't do it and are more simply there for name and face value. Torrie and Stacy.
Face value names should be kept out of competition. But overall... it's always been like this.

I remember when Trish didn't wrestle either. Well, she did wrestle but it was equally as embarrasing as watching Torrie wrestle. Thats why i have respect for Trish because now she can carry other women wrestlers through matches... as long as they don't botch their own moves.

Yeah, Trish is a tremendous success story. Ashley's got the same upside, but it'll prolly take her a few years.
But I learned not to mix logic and WWE writing a long time ago. They have as much blending capability as vinegar and oil.

btw, TL, I wasn't just realizing this, it's just this time I took the time to put it into writing.
Especially after last night, I just got to thinking, and felt I needed to relieve some stress.
Basically, Slim, as for placing Ashley in a match so soon, I think that was primarily their fault. I cant blame her for going out there and sucking, she shouldnt have been there in the first place. But Torrie, well no excuse for her.
I have to wonder why it is they are willing to allow for really shitty and shoddy "wrestling", when a couple of great talents in say OVW would actually get the crowd much more into the show, and it wouldnt look so embarrassing for their company.
Yes, we are the wwe, the biggest wrestling company in the world, and we will showcase how great we are with some unique matches that anyone in their backyard could fucking do.
Pitiful.

I like Ashley, I really do think she could be something. Why she is getting air time that could be given to Val Venis (he was on RAW, I know, but still), Danny Basham, Tajiri, Rene Dupree or a Kerwin White match, etc. is beyond me. If they really want to air this angle, air it on Heat. See if semi-hot women with no talent really do draw.
Alexis Laree is under WWE contract. Why is she in OVW when Ashley Massaro is in the big leagues? Why is Torrie Wilson still on TV if she wants to be a wrestler? Shouldn't she be training? Why is Jillian Hall on SmackDown! with fake shit on her face, instead of hitting 450 Splashes on RAW? I don't know the answers to these questions, and I doubt the WWE does either.

But Trish was used as a manager/valet. She had a raison d'etre. Meanwhile, Torrie is just a piece of eye-candy and is thrown into wrestling matches for no apparent reason.
Trish only wrestled as part of a storyline with Test and Albert or whatever. Since then she took it upon herself to improve. Torrie meanwhile, is just complacent.

I don't know. I just recall everyone going nuts on the forums here about 8 months ago when Lita and Trish headlined Raw (when Lita nearly broke her necked after a botched Suicide Dive) saying how far the Women's Division has progressed - enough to be main event material.

Not to jump to Torrie's defense, really, although I guess I am jumping to her defense. I've never been much of a Torrie Wilson fan at all, but to be honest, I don't mind her stuff with Dawn Marie (in ring, believe it or not.:o), and saying she's had "years of training" might be stretching things a bit. She's had years where she'll work the occasional match, MUCH more often simply removing her top and revealing her figure for fans to gawk at.
Given Torrie's wrestling experience and what she's had to work with, I really don't see how you could expect her to be a great, or even good wrestler. That's really all I have to contribute. :o

My main gripe is why she even gets booked to wrestle, when she cant. I understand she was demanding a greater on air role, which meant more wrestling. Well, she had best be able to wrestle, if she expects more in ring action.
The whole point of this, is why the wwe doesnt mind showcasing substandard and low quality wrestling action, when all it does is make their company look bad.
I know of one obvious reason as to why they feel a need to showcase these girls, and that is a reason that lawler constantly harps on. Guys want to see near nude females on their tv in any capacity.
I would like to think that's an over-rated concept. But I have a feeling it isn't.

BOOBZ ROCK!!!!1111ELEVENBAHGAWD
I just finished watching this week's Raw and I must agree with everything Zen said.
Personally I am a fan of more technical wrestling (including cruiserweight stuff) and when I am forced this shite I can't watch it!
It really annoys me that these women are given the TV time! Case in point...Billy Kidman gets his marching orders whilt his bitch roles around for 5 minutes (5 too long!) with other women that can't wrestle! And she has a really annoying voice!
Don't get me wrong, I respect the girls that have taken the Trish approach, Christy & Ashley deserve some props for wanting to be more than a TV Tramp!
But it boils down to the fact that it's not worthy of my time! In fact I bearly watched Raw, I had my back to the TV for most of it!
Sack the silly sluts that fall about the ring and rehire Charlie Haas et al!
Worse yet....they've taken 7 or 8 spots on the new SmackDown game and I for one will not be using them.
Maybe it comes down to age! Granted at 21 I still like to see a goodlooking girl but do they have to be in a ring??
Essentially it's a tough time for WWE! When a person that rarely gets to see ANY wrestling can't be arsed to watch the first show he's seen in weeks it's a sorry atate of affairs!
