Anyone remember VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Songs of All-Time from a couple of years back?
I agree with a lot of the songs on the list, but am not crazy about the placement. So, I propose we have a tournament wherein I post a pair of songs, the winners advance to the next round, thereby eliminating 99 songs and leaving us with the REAL #1 greatest song of all-time. Interested? Here's the first batch of Round One match-ups:
"London Calling" by The Clash vs. "Jumpin’ Jack Flash" by The Rolling Stones
"Let It Be" by The Beatles vs. "No Woman No Cry" by Bob Marley And The Wailers
"(Sittin On’) The Dock Of The Bay" by Otis Redding vs. "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen
"Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison vs. "Fire And Rain" by James Taylor
"California Dreaming" by The Mamas & The Papas vs. "Gloria" by Them
Just reply to this post with your picks and in a couple of days, I'll have the results and the next batch of songs.
Of course, if this idea sucks, feel free not to respond, thereby effectively de-bumping this post into the nether realms of the Music Forum.
