Spike TV offered the following press release today:

"Spike TV presents the new wrestling alternative, when Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's iMPACT! joins the 'Slammin' Saturday Night' lineup. Delivering a distinct brand of high-risk, live-action athletic entertainment, TNA's roster includes some of the most exciting and recognizable stars in wrestling today such as Jeff Jarrett, Raven, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Abyss, Sean Waltman, Christopher Daniels, Monty Brown and others. TNA features the high-flying "X Division," the "Six-Sided Ring," and concept matches such as "Ultimate X," "King of the Mountain," and "Six Sides of Steel."

Spike TV is going to have some fun with Vince McMahon and WWE in the next few weeks as new commercials will air promoting TNA during every RAW. The 10/16 episode of TNA on Spike is being billed as a "WWE vs. TNA" show and says "TNA vs. WWE." It's meat, muscle, and mayhem as Total Non Stop Action Wrestling tries to smack down the WWE. It's the classic battle of tight shorts vs. mock sports." Ouch, Vince must be a wreck.

Hey, it's something new, whatever a "WWE vs TNA" show means. :p

No more late night partying for me on Saturdays. Unless Jarrett gets the title back.

Greg sent along the following. ... It's officially going to happen. WWE vs. TNA! Well, sort of. According to a post on the Yahoo MXC Group from someone who works on the show, Spike TV is going to have a TNA vs. WWE (officially listed as "Total Non Stop Action (TNA) Wrestling vs. WWE") episode on October 6th. You can look at this as either Spike trying to promote TNA, or burying WWE, or both.

I checked out the group, and the posting does list a TNA vs. WWE episode, alongside a "Desperate Housewives vs. Ultimate Fighters" show and a "Mafia vs. Video Games" show. For those that don't know, MXC (Most Xtreme Challenge) is a Japanese reality series (Takeshi's Castle) in which contestants take part in wacky physical challenges. However, for airing here in the U.S., the show is overdubbed in English with silly commentary that has little to do with the original show. For example, one episode recently claimed to feature "ex-child actors vs. inventors" in the events. It will be interesting to see, if this episode airs (as of right now, it isn't listed on any "official" sites or guides), how WWE and TNA are treated.

Wow. So basically the "TNA vs WWE" show will be an MXC episode. I think that's pretty funny.

Vic Romano: "Now here comes Jeff Jarrett, self-prclaimed King of the Mountain!"
Kenny Blankenship: "Ooh! He just fell face-first into the mud!"
Vic Romano: "Guess he's more like the King of the Mudpile now!"

Or else networks will think that wrestling fans don't care about good matches and will stop airing TNA and we will all be forced to watch WWE pillow fights.
