AIM is being a bitch

Ok on my laptop, yesterday AIM starting to fuck up on me. I went into preferences and unchecked the box "Make AIM Your Default Message System", and did whatever, then logged off. Now I tried to get back on, but whenever I start AIM a box comes up "Make AIM Your Default Message System" and it freezes. I can't click on anything, and it comes up "Not Responding" on the task manager. Now I've tried unistalling, reinstalling and deleting all the User folders, but nothing is working. WTF is going on :(
