Yeah, Ghost In The Shell (the movie) is pretty hott. The series that followed GitS: Stand Alne Complex) is even better. It used to show on Cartoon Network. Missed the last few eps due to being in Canada.

Naruto is pretty good. The Japanese version avec subtitles is considerably better due to the annoying English version voices. It is about these kids growing up in a ninja village, learning moves and going on missions and shit. English version is only 3 episodes in on Cartoon Network, Japanese version is at episode 151, as of last week. www.narutochuushin.com for the Japanese version.

Bleach is the shit, too. It's only in Japanese w/ subtitles right now (get it via torrent at www.animesuki.com) and is 49 episodes in. It's about this kid with unusually high spirit power and can see ghosts as a result. He meets a death god while she is on a mission to kill a hollow (corrupted soul) and their lives intertwine when he has to take her powers after she gets injured in battle. If you are going to follow anyof these, FOLLOW THIS ONE.

I guess there's Inuyasha on Cartoon Network during Adult Swim, but that is so ridiculously far into the plot, that you'll never catch up.

Yu Yu Hakusho was pretty good until Cartoon Network gayed it up with ridiculous editing. It was on Adult Swim, then they PGed it so they could show it during the day. It's about this guy who dies, but earns his life back in exchange for becoming a spirit detective (ie demon hunter). Also, this guy has the most bastardish teachers of all time for some reason.

Ninja Scroll is a pretty good anime movie. It's about ninjas, btw. :shifty:

Spirited Away was a decent movie. Not violent or anything. More of a family thing, but good nonetheless.

Metropolis is overrated, IMO, but everyone shits themselves over it. Decent movie. It's about robots or something. It's actually pretty screwed up.

Akira is hailed as the greatest amine movie ever. Good, not great.

Lupin III is a pretty funny series, but the dialog is fucked because it's from 1977 but all the references are to stuff from the last 5 years in the English version.

That's all I remember right now.

There was this one about wolves and other other animals and stuff and there's this animal god or watever. It was pretty screwed up, but alright. Can't remember the title. It had these weird little white creatures that made rattling sounds when they shook their heads.

I will post more if I remember.

Everything Funky said is spot on, especially about Naruto and Bleach, but go to these sites instead for Naruto and Bleach ---> www.narutofan.com and www.bleachportal.net :y:

I also recommend Fullmetal Alchemist. It's about two brothers who lose some things (namely an arm, a leg, and an entire body) trying to revive their dead mother. Story basically follows them trying to obtain the Philosopher's Stone, a stone that will amplify their powers.

Rurouni Kenshin and Cowboy Bebop are always fun to watch.

I also recommend Paranoia Agent or 'Read or Die,' but they're pretty weird so you might hate it.

And if you're into cars, there's always Initial D.

P.S. If you wanna look up info on the anime posted, go here ---> http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php

X:The Movie is a mind fuck if I've ever seen one, not gonna try and even describe it, just see it. They crammed an entire manga series in 2 hours heh. I've heard the TV series is better but I haven't seen that and rather enjoyed X

And I really enjoy the Sailor Moon series in its original japanese format w/eng subs but I doubt that's what you are looking for.

Personaly I enjoyed the Street Fighter Movies, Armitage III, Dragon-Half (it was an unfinished series though) and Urusei Yatsura. Can't say I enjoyed Ghost in the Shell but then I do enjoy crazy stupid random stuff compared to straight out Sci Fi.

Let's not forget that it has the worst pacing ever.

Anything by Miyazaki is good (if a little more aimed at children)

Princess Mononoke
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Porco Rosso
Castle of Cagliostro (Lupin III movie)
Grave of the Fireflies (maybe a little heavy)

are all awesome.

Funky said it all, I believe. Naruto is currently my fav. show (in Japanese) and Bleach I'm patiently getting in to. I get those shows by narutocentral.com and bleachtv.com. Bebop, definitely the best I'd say as it's short and sweet, along with FLCL, even shorter but very crazy. Full Metal Alchemist is also great, along with GITS: the series (not the movies, don't like it). EVA and Escaflowne too.

Funky, I think you were talking about Wolf's Rain, as those were wolves but when they spoke to each other, they were shown as people. I didn't really watch that one, seems kinda meh. Oh, and if you like Paranoia Agent, I just saw the movie Tokio Godfathers and it's even better I think.

Naruto and Bleach both started off awesome.

However, currently in the manga Bleach is crap, and Naruto is pretty bad, though not on the level of crap that is Bleach.

One Piece (NOT the English version) is better than them both.

Wolf's Rain does lick ass, however.

As for good anime to watch. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are awesome. Spirited Away was mentioned earlier, and it fucking rocks the house. Another awesome Miyazaki movie is Kiki's Delivery Service.

I hope you're kidding, that is the LAST thing you recomend to someone trying to get into anime

THIS SITE HAS ALMOST EVERY ANIME IN EXISTENCE: http://boxtorrents.com

recently they had to take down shit that is licensed by funimation, but i'd still say it's a great source of anime. The only really popular anime they are missing is Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, perhaps DBZ if ur old skool...

anyway, this toplist lists what 300+ reviewers think is the best and has info on every anime, so USE IT, then SEARCH http://boxtorrents.com, if box doesn't have it then it'll be complicated.

http://www.animenfo.com/statistic/top.php?type=anime

My favourite anime of all time is Fullmetal Alchemist, it is FUCKING AMAZING. Boxtorrents doesn't have it though, so you'd have to find it somewhere else, I'm not sure where atm. Should be easy to find though, as it is immensely popular.

Get Naruto from the sites other people listed, and if you catch up use http://yhbt.mine.nu/ to dl the weekly episodes, because they do it faster than anyone (have every new ep thursday afternoon)

Cowboy Bebop is pretty old, but it is still damn good, this has been a gateway drug into anime for so many people. Get it from Box

If you're into big machines and gun fights, go for Gundam Wing, then Gundam Seed, and then Gundam Seed destiny. Use boxtorrents.com for gundam wing and gundam Seed. Then use http://seed.eatshoe.com for Gundam Seed Destiny up to episode 47. Then use http://hiro-fansubs.com to get the newest episodes of gundam seed destiny every saturday night.

A lot of people like Inuyasha. I like it too but i'm just being desensitized to it, since there is such better shit out there (EG FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST!!!!) get it from boxtorrents.com if you want

I've just started watching Kenshin and so far it's been good, if you want a nice long series go for that. again, boxtorrents.com

I've got 107 DVDs of burned anime, and 80 more gigs on my comp... i haven't watched most of it though, my sister who has watched everything I have thinks these are also good: Full Metal Panic, Bleach, Fruits Basket. Sadly you can't get any of these from boxtorrents.com, but others have told you where to get bleach and you can probably get FMP/FB from http://anime-supreme.com

i duno if you read all that, but i don't care... took me 5 min to type and everything was from the top of my head, sorry i couldn't organize it better though i'm in the middle of some university work :(

God, there's too many that I could even mention.

Ai Yori Aoshi - One of my favorite series, it's a good watch if you want to with your girlfriend or something. The whole thing boils down to this: A guy who's a college student now disowned his family when he was about 16. When he was little, he was set into an arranged marriage with his childhood friend. After 16 years of not seeing him, she goes looking for him. Think Love Hina, but without such a hard edge, I guess.

Uzumaki: Not really an anime, but there was a live-action movie based on the manga. It was a horror series, & some really sick & twisted stuff happens in it :D. A teenage WB-ish girl lives in a rural Japanese town, & disturbing shit goes down . I remember there was a part where a guy commits suicide by twisting himself into a spiral inside a barrel. I also loved the character designs in it:
http://www.metrokitty.com/blog_files/uzumaki.jpg

Video Girl Ai: This is what got me into anime in the 1st place. A guy rents an adult tape from a wierd video store, & the actress in the video falls right out of the TV & makes life "difficult". Kinda like The Ring, only as a romantic comedy lol. The anime ran for 6 episodes, but the manga ran for 15 volumes I think. The anime had like 6 main characters, but the manga had about 20. The only downside to the series was it was made in the early 90's, & the whole thing has a really bad Vanilla Ice bad clothes & hair feel going on. Lots of really nice Boobage tho.

I hope that was a help.
