Yeah, so Nintendo just recently announced that their much anticipated new system this year would be a duel monitered (and I'm assuming in some way portable) system called the 'Nintendo DS,' or 'duel screen.' It will tkae a diffrent kind of disc from Gamecube, with each moniter being 3 inches wide.

Looks really crappy, the full article is here

Discuss.

"There are no photographs of the device available. However, IGN's own Matt Casamassina has created a conceptual drawing of what the Nintendo DS may look like. Very intriguing, for sure." LOL

I wonder if Nintendo's gonna start going the way of Sega. You know, like 50 different consoles/portables on the market.

You know, it's not really a bad idea but it's pretty worthless at the same time.

They should've invested in the online aspect.

Sounds like some dodgy next gen Gameboy... but not, since the Advance obviously has life left in it. Which makes another hand held a bit pointless, more powerful or not. And this'll be nothing like the Virtual Boy, it won't burn the image of games into your retina. :shifty:

Hopefully they're slaving away on the successor to the Gamecube as well...

Yeah...A portable multiplayer concept? The devil you say?

It'd make sense if they either replaced the GBA (Bad idea since they just put out the SP) or just improved its multiplayer capcities.

Let's see...Sony is shooting itself in the foot by making a $9 million portable system...Nintendo's shooting itself by making more competition for itself...I just can't wait to see what Microsoft comes up with...

And yeah, Nintendo'd better be working on the next gen of console...

They should just make more awesome games for GBA and GC for a while.

And finally come out with some real online shit. My brother has PSO Ep 1 & 2, and it's the hott shit as it is. It would rule 12 kinds of ass online though.

Knowing Microsoft, the hand-held they throw out there will be like monstrously huge like the game gear was :). Anyone else here with me want a lighter xbox?

It has LAN play and online capability, but as long as there is no online service, the game only supprts LAN.

PSO is Online ready, as long as you have a modem/broadband adaptor.

You can play the LAN games (Mario Kart, 1080, Kirby Air Ride) over the net if you hook a computer up to the same network and run a certain program.

Nintendo has fallen on its face with a lot of its concepts and managed to rebound. Virtual Boy, Super Scope 6, that stupid Robot thingy in the early days... lot of ideas that never really went anywhere. I imagine this will go into that pile.

Yeah, well, some of those weren't total failures. The Super Scope was just a gun, like the Zapper or GunCon. It didn't set the world on fire, but it didn't need to. ROB (The Robot) was a similar novelty sort of "expansion."

Virtual Boy...Well, they've had some really STUPID ideas, I agree. And they've rebounded...But so did SEGA for quite some time, which is why I wonder.

I'm not saying they're dead, just that this may be indicitive of something bigger...

Nintendo is also much bigger now with the Cube than it ever was with N64.
