View Full Version : Heat and Velocity are staying! Sort of........

At the tapings this past week, wrestlers who fell into the Heat/Velocity category were told not to worry about being let go as the company was going to continue both shows to fulfill international programming commitments. Before this week, company sources had expected another round of talent cutbacks coinciding with the dropping of the shows.

This reverses the original decision made some time back when the USA Network declined picking up the shows, that they would be discontinued at the end of this month, even though many international contracts called for additional hours of weekly programming.

According to the Ross Report today, the WWE web site was going to make an announcement regarding the future of both shows, which seems to confirm the shows will continue in some form. If USA Network still won't pick them up, there is a chance the shows could be used as web content. WWE had talked of expanding web content with original matches at the last investors conference. Syndication could be another option. WWE had made the decision very suddenly to get out of the syndication business this summer. If the company is already producing the shows for international, the costs of syndicating it to stations that wanted to continue WWE weekend programming isn't that much.

So not great, but at least we get some decent wrestling each week still

Like Australia

Raw(replay),Velocity & Heat on saturday and on sunday it's Smackdown(replay) and the Experence.

However I think they switched something around, either way it's still a good few hours of wrestling...well alright few hours of wrestling ;)

Velocity lives on! Just not in any place I can watch it. Maybe I'll get lucky and the Fight Network'll pick it up when it drops off Spike. Probably won't happen though, as the Fight Network has TNA.

Fight Network? I've never heard of such!

It's a new Canadian station. I don't have a whole lot of info about it, but I heard that they picked up TNA Xplosion. Or something.

Good stuff - Velocity is quite possibly the best wrestling show on at the moment (even in spite of Hardcore Holly's appearances). I was devastated when I heard they might be discontinued and when I saw last week's episode was a re-cap show!

Velocity has been far better than Smackdown. If the WWE didn't treat heat/velocity like shit though, then maybe there wouldn't be this problem.

i cant believe ppl are actually saying they like heat and velocity? no one really wants to see lower card wreslters when you have enough big stars on raw and smackdown

But people like to see good wrestling. I don't watch it cuz either I don't have the time or I completely forget about it. But people here know a good match when they see one so I believe them when they say those shows have at least some redeeming quality.

Awesome, Heat/Velocity rocks my jocks. Anyway, I have my usual (un)creative two cents to add to the matter.

Heat/Velocity right now is a recap show with guys like Val Venis and Paul London getting a chance to do stuff. I say scrap the recap stuff. Go to WWE.com if you want to see the highlights of the week. Give me 20 minutes of Paul London and Brian Kendrick over 5 minutes of London & Kendrick and 15 minutes of SmackDown! re-crap. Don't get me wrong, I like SmackDown!, but I'll actually watch SmackDown! if I want to see what's going on.

My second idea to contribute is this: Show classic matches on Heat/Velocity. I'm not talking classic as in old, I'm talking classic as in digging into your archives and bringing up a match that can build interest into current dealings, and help get guys over.

An example would be Val Venis vs. Rikishi in a Steel Cage Match at Fully Loaded 2000 (for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, I think). Fans see Val Venis take a splash off a steel cage, they develop sympathy for the guy. Show Venis watching the match on a monitor backstage smiling when The Heart Trhobs coem up and laugh at him, saying that getting his ass almost killed by Rikishi is his career highlight. Venis then says he doesn't need Viscera to beat The Heart Throbs, so he challenges them to a Handicap Match, which he goes on to win. Bam, instantly Val Venis is on the rise again.

I'd also like to see Heat/Velocity removed from their Saturday/Sunday night timeslots, and moved before their respective shows. Have Heat air before RAW, and Velocity before SmackDown!. You can get more storylines involved in the show this way. It would be hard on international programming, though.

Forgive me James Steele but...

SHUT UP YOU IGNORANT ASS

I like Velocity and Heat because it has wrestling and talented wrestlers such as London, Nunzio, Super Crazy, Shelton Benjamin (recently) and Chavo Guerrero. If you weren't such a stupid dumbfuck of a mark who pisses their 7-year old pants when steroided freaks who can barely wrestle come out to all so pretty fireworks and have big shiny belts then I'd actually be able to have a decent conversation with you.

You fucking ignorant prick. You've got something to learn about what wrestling is. Good luck lasting on this forum with dumbfuck remarks like that. Bring your testicles next time you want to say something so stupid. dumbfuck!
