LOL, maria bello in the buff reminds me of her and Bill Macy in "the cooler."

Oh man, Macy giving her oral = hottest scene EVER.

what is this? I haven't seen a preview for it. Like some indy film?

The Mask
09-27-2005, 09:47 AM
I don't think it's indy. It's getting advertised in a pretty big way over here. It's made by David Cronenberg too.

Wickedly Amazing. Even when doing something more mainstreak Cronenberg delivers what is expected of him, he took a basic story that could have easily been done with a soft-R (14A in Ontario) style and knocked it out of the park with his hard-R (18A in Ontario) style.

It's a good film.

However, The Jacket is still comfortably the best film I've seen from this year. Followed by Crash.

I enjoyed it a lot. Mad entertaining and it is such an awesome premise for a movie.

SPOILERS: A mafia dude goes into witness protection and then he kills two robbers at his diner and he becomes a hero and gets his face all in the papers. The mafia then finds out where he is, obviously, and comes after him. BEST SHIT COME ON.

It wasn't witness protection, you cunt. He just buried his personality.

Great movie indeed. Not as violent as everyone makes it out to be though.

Awesomeness by William Hurt.

Like, was anyone else bothered by the unrealistic way he killed the second guy in the diner? The "hitman" had a shot at Viggo all along -- Viggo did his power ranger jump roll over the counter and grabbed the gun and the hitman just stood there waiting. ==_==

I just laughed at the fact that he killed all these guys and their didn't seem to be any real investigation :)

Like which scenes exactly...

The sex scenes (the wife as the cheerleader, on the stairs)

the son feuding with that kid from school

These scenes took a good half of the movie. Were they really necessary?

Jason Cage

the following contains SPOILERS so --

well I spose the sex scenes should have been cut down a few minutes since I'm not too sure what the writer(s) was trying to get across. Could have been something, could have been nothing. The whole "giving a backstory on Viggo's character by having us believe that he "never had time to be a teenager" came across, though it was more graphically depicted. Hmm.

But the bully thing, I think it was rather essential as a part of the son "becoming like the father" transition. You see at first he doesn't want to engage in acts of violence. Then the dad does violence--leading the son to do so as well.. Which also lead up to him shooting Ed Harris' character, thus becoming his father.

One scene I thought was seriously long was the opening sequence. Redundant.

There really never is any point to a sex scene anyways. It just adds extra time on to a film I guess. Kinda like car chases in a way..umm, dunno what to do here..oh I know..car chase!

The Mask
10-25-2005, 06:54 AM
yeah the opening scene is annoying. I wouldn't have complained about the sex scenes though tbh.

The opening scene was a work of art.

Someone said it was pointless, it established the two thugs as villains.

El Capitano Gatisto
10-27-2005, 06:38 PM
The opening scene was great.

Also, the sex scenes were in there to highlight the change in their relationship. The first sex scene is loving and tender to show how perfect their relationship is, the second is angry and violent. The wife is both repulsed and turned on by his violence after his true nature is revealed. It's not just about this guy, but how the history of violence affects the way his family see him. They are vocally hostile, but their actions say differently. It's fairly simple, lads.

and their car and a few motel doors.

also, rewatching this and looking at what the critics say...I find it superbly overrated. I thought there was some sloppy writing, some ridiculous moments and just average acting all in all. Still, Richie kicked ass.
