Austin looks slimmed down, not like anorexic, but maybe 10 to 15 lbs lighter and muscular for the first time in a long time. Thinking in ring return? Or you guys think he's just in shape in general??
I told my friends HHH was gonna come out fat again, and he really looked overweight, IMO. Perhaps (give or take) the same 10-15 lbs Austin lost? I thought he really looked terrible.
Called HHH turning on Flair, but no real idea why other HHH yelling about how he didn't foget. Hmmm... HHH-Flair feud? Not looking forward to it
The ladder match was a disappointment, well, the ending was, it made sense and all, but I was let down. The people I watched it with (hardcore fans) agreed.
Hoping for some interpromotional stuff at SS based on what we saw tonight, that's probably where they're going.
Hogan v Austin teaser, not thrilled, but not hating the fact that its gonna happen, I don't wanna see Hogan win. Austin's not great anymore, but he's probably the lesser of the 2 evils.
Thoughts?

Aha!!! Another one who shares the opinion that HHH is indeed looking "puffy" and quite frankly terrible.
Austin has always ruled in my mind.

My thoughts--
The Ironman wasn't nearly as good as it could've/should've been, and the ending did nothing for me. It could've easily been done next week, then we wouldn't have had time problems, likely.
I loved the HHH segment. From his decent face pop, to his predictable heel turn. I loved it, even though I believe he beat the shit out of Flair for way too long.
SmackDown match getting cancelled erked me as well, I was looking forward to it. They could've used that to progress Eddie/Batista, and why not? It would've been the perfect stage for the Eddie turn.
Hogan didn't take up too much time. :y:
I really hate John Cena, but I can see why he squashed Bischoff. It would've been a huge mistake to have him lose the title to the GM. It would make him, the title, and WWE look like a joke. :D
personally i thought the legends segment where they beat the shit out of conway was the best thing of the night
mainly because dusty is my all time fave next to sting
i still cant believe the pop hunter got that was amazing
cant wait for falir to best the hell out of him though
the austin/mcmahons segment went way too long and we all know shane is better than that so it was kinda dumb the way the booked it on top of linda fucking up the stunner
and 1 thing you guys have'nt brought up yet piper completely fucked up the rko and foley as always sold it perfect

this show had so much going for it: the legends, Raw, Smackdown!... all on one show and they did nothing with it.
Piper's Pit was good, as was Austin v "The Family". HHH turning on Flair was somewhat predictable. The Legends beating up on Conway was funny. HBK/Angle tore the house down just too bad it was the first match.
But then they threw 95% of the matches in the last 45 mins. No Smackdown match, no major run-ins (minus the end), and when they did have a chance to have a clusterfuck big bang ending... they cut it off. So much for all the "extra time".
I don't know. There was so much promise for this night and it left me wanting so much more. Maybe it's just me, but I think they really blew it tonight.
Why not have Sleazy beat Cena with Angle's help but have Vince turn it around next week? Why not have Batista confront HHH after the beating he gave Flair? Why not a Mr. Kennedy promo? Why not have Hardy flip out after he lost instead of having him walk out like a bitch with his head down?
Eh....
2 out of 5 stars (1 star for HHH and the other for HBK/Angle)

Homecoming = gold. It was perhaps the non-PPV best show the WWE has put on for the last four years. I loved it.
Personally, there are a number of things that stood out. The guy wearing the purple WCW shirt in front row was hilarious. I loved his various signs such as 'Foley = Stuntman', 'Kick Bischoff ass for Nitro fans' and 'I'd rather be at KOTDM'.
Then I wondered if there was anyone who could blow a spot like Linda McMahon and her Stone Cold (sit on the floor) Stunner, until Lita failed to miss the entire area of Matt Hardy's back with a three foot long Kendo stick.
I marked out big time for Randy Orton, Stone Cold, Shane and even Stephanie. She looked gorgeous. I'd hit it. Kudos also to the pops Foley, Piper and Hogan received, although the all-mighty pop for Cena (which drawfed anything else all night, even the returning Batista) was worrying. How is he THAT over?

I thought it was a good show. Good opening with Foley and Piper, then the Ortons. Angle/Michaels was great. Hated to see Kurt just walk away at the end of it though.
Austin v the McMahons was the best segment of the night to me. I've always been an Austin mark. And to see him give a stunner to every member of the McMahon family brought back more good times. He did look a little slimmer than before.
Ladder match was good, though the ending sucked. Matt getting caught up in the ropes, leaving Edge to get the easy victory.
Shocked to see HHH get a pop like he did. He's only been gone 3 months! But the heel turn was predictable, though I'm not sure what Trips didn't forget about.
Legends beating Conway was funny stuff. Bra and panties match was typical, though we almost got to see a little more of Victoria. SmackDown match getting cancelled sucked. Hogan didn't use much time, which was good. Main event went as expected. Cena shouldn't have to job to Bischoff in a title match.
A good setup to a SmackDown v RAW feud, even though the coverage cut off to quickly. It was just like last year's draft, when everyone was in the ring fighting, and coverage cut off there too.
But I thought it was an enjoyable show. It almost seemed like 3 hours wasn't enough time to get everything in.
although the all-mighty pop for Cena (which drawfed anything else all night, even the returning Batista) was worrying. How is he THAT over?
cuz he is the man
so is austin, that segment was gold, it got a little boring when he was talking to linda, but i swear i haven't been that into the tv screen of raw in a long time
actually this is the first time i actually 'watched' all of raw since around 2001/2002, usually i Just watch the good parts and listen to the rest while doing other things at the same time
best show in a long time, I hope this isn't a one time thing and they try as hard on every raw as they did on this one, of course all the legends/old guys/McMahons wont be there but it doesn't mean they can't put on a good show
kinda sad that the rock wasn't there
cena is THAT over simply because he's the cool guy that now everybody likes
he's the exact oppoisite of what austin was when he got this over and i think that is what draws more people to him
no me personally i've been a cena fan since the night he walked into smackdown and went face to face with angle so i'm not one that has jumped on the bandwagon
hell at a house show here when john was heel i bought his 1st word life shirt and got some weird ass looks but when they came back the following year it seemed like everybody was wearing cena shirts
but this year we got a smackdown...the one where jbl blew up the damn us title(that was fucking awesome)
and at smackdown cena was more over here than austin was in 97 for raw here and everywhere you looked there were cena signs and cena shirts
the guy is gonna be the most over in the company long after he looses that title
last year he won most popular in pwi and he was'nt world champ then
this year he'll probably get it again and probably end up wrestler of the year

The Austin segment was gold. Linda botching the stunner aside it was a flawless segment. Someone said something about Shane being better than getting the Stunner right off the bat. To that I say, did Shane-O-Mac ever put up a challenge for Steve Austin in the past?
HHH/Flair tag match and following segment was superb. Was the heel turn predictable, yes. But it was still enjoyable. For me seeing something coming is enjoyable, it lets you pet your own ego by saying, "I saw that coming." Kind of gratifying.
The ladder match was awesome, this is going somewhere. The feud is definitely not over. I'm not sure if they are going to save it for WM or bring him back before hand but either way we definitely haven't seen the end of this story.
Hogan kept it short and sweet. Hogan/Austin is a dream match if I have ever heard of one. The leaders of both the big booms squaring off against each other, . The match match isn't going to amazing but it is still history in the making.
The iron man wasn't phenomenal but it was the opener, and it is going somewhere. I think the fans will get to vote for Cenas opponent or something to that effect at Taboo Tuesday. Maybe into another direction, either way it was build up, I know its strange to have an iron man build up but it works.
I thought it was a great show that pushed a lot of story lines a made a few new ones. Bischoff/Vince will be very entertaining. HHH/Flair should be the goods. Kurt/Michaels rubber match will actually be on a Pay Per View :y: . Austin/Hogan is the biggest match in a long time. I am loving the idea of Interpromotional Survivor Series matches. Randy Orton/Piper this Friday will suck, but its another legend on the list, so :y: . The show was awesome and the aftermath will be watchable as well, :y: :y: for RAW Homecoming. Fantastic show.

Although, Cena is still nowhere near where Austin was popularity wise in Austins peak.
Cena does suck however.
Moving on, High points for me were Piper, Austin, and Edge owning his bitch.
Low point, no Taker, when he along with HBk are the two sole guys left from the very first Raw show. He needed, and deserved to be on there. Hell, he didnt even get one moment in the raw exposed thing.
Oh yeah, and btw, Piper is the original Legend Destroyer, and it used to say on his shirts..Orton had best do what is right and job to the fucking man.

omg, this Raw was very good. One of my favorite episodes I ever saw. The best part was when Stone Cold Steve Austin did the Stone Cold Stunner to all of Vince's family. I did the IM to my friend and I was so excited. Also, dat thing with HHH? Why did he do dat? :( I thought he was going to be the good guy now? I hope someone kill him now.
Really great show

Here's my thoughts:
Pipers pit was good, Piper is so fucking good on the mic.I would've like to of seen Randy/Bob Orton V Foley/Piper though, that would'e made a good first match.Always good to see Foley back.
Angle V Micheals was a good match, and a good ending to though they nearly botched it.It keeps the feud going, and makes Angle's chase for the title even more entertaining.Though i reckon it will be Cena V HBK V Angle for the title.
Loved the Austin/Mcmahon family segment, brought back old memories.Couldn't watch when Linda botched the stunner, i knew that would happen, did they really think Linda could sell the stunner?Oh and Stephanie looked great.
The ladder match was abit shorter than i expected, i don't mind the ending to much as I was nearly right about it, but the ladder match was good overall.
HHH/Flair V Carlito/Masters was a poor match, but you knew as soon as HHH got the sledgehammer that he was going to use it on Flair.I can't understand the logic behind it though, should be interesting to find out when HHH does his 30 minute promo next week on Raw.(did I just use 'interesting' and 'hhh promo' in the same sentence?)
The legends beating on Conway was good.
Hogan is back YET AGAIN. Though Austin/Hogan is one match I would pay to see, just to see who would do the job.
Don't get why they had to shit on smackdown with that 6 man tag match, do they not want people to watch that show?
Cena/Bischoff could've been far better. It would have been so fitting if they ended the night with bischoff shockingly becoming champ.I'm tired of Cena.
Why the fuck they cut the brawl off at the end i'll never know, that;s like 3 times they've done that this year.I would love for them to explain to me that logic.Mind you, they probably wouldn't understand a question with the word 'logic' in it.
I give this Raw 9/10, they lose a point due to the ending being cut off.

The point of cutting it off is old Dusty logic, it leaves you wishing you had seen more. So you come back when its time to see the real action.

10-04-2005, 04:24 PM
well, it did work for WCW in the last 90's when they did that every week and Raw did that a lot in the Attitude era as well. I remember they cut it off once when Austin was about to stun Chyna.

It sells tickets, you keep coming back to see what you wanted to see the first time. Its really smart if you think about it. And for the record, you're not supposed to like it. When you finally get to see it, thats when you're supposed to be satisfied. (To TL & LC)

Well i'm not satisfied. And it's not like they show it the next week either.
They have got it on WWE.com if you want to the end of the show. The satisfying part will be at Survivor Series, when RAW squares off against SD! That was all build up last night. They cut it off so you are left saying to yourself, who would win there? Instead of going RAW sure did whip SD!. Again its all build up.
Dude, even Stevie Wonder saw the heel turn coming.
Good, the Raw thread suggested that some people were suprisesd.

It sure did. Not trying to be patronising, but mostly because the biggest star of the Attitude era returned and stole the show with his segment. I really really enjoyed it. It was good to see the crowd laugh along as well - it would have been great to be there.
Hopefully the writers can capitalise on this and try recreate some of the aura from the show on next week's Raw. I've got to admit that it'll be very difficult, perhaps more difficult than the task of recreating the ECW aura for ONS. But overall, I think it was the second best wrestling event I've seen this year (behind the said event above)
