View Full Version : what do your friends/family think of wrestling?

Like some of it is cool. But sometimes I'm watching a match and the guy's face/cock is too close to his opponents' ass.

Also, the hot bods  And don't forget the typical "so you like watching oily sweaty men wrestle eachother"

Cena can spit out terrible shit from time to time. He should seriously target the 20-30 demographic. Be hip, ya feelin me? He's still the goods though. :y:

I was watching RAW at the gym and my boss is like "turn it to football!!!"

Sometimes I change the channel when people are around. Also what is up with Monty Brown? Fuck knows.

----

Now onto the good things about wrestling. When something cool happens it's fucking good. Last thing I can remember was when Cena came to RAW.

Things I look forward too:

Cena vs. Hogan
Orton vs. Cena
Cena vs. Eugene
HHH vs. Cena

on a side note- Angle sweats a lot. You don't see Cena all sweaty. Discuss.

k I didn't even answer my own question

My dad thinks wrestling is okay but I don't know the truth, because we watched that WrestleMania Movie. My dad said "haha now they're gonna kiss" in the scene where Austin tells The Rock that he loves him and Rock closes the door behind him

My other buddy, who doesn't watch anymore but is a huge die hard nWo/Hogan mark, lost interest long ago but he'll stick in the odd pro-nWo Hogan remark here and there.

My non-wrestling fan buddies grew out of it. One of them was voted to be the WWF Champion in the yearbook, and bought Rock's autobiography but still likes Flair (mainly because he's an old school vet)

My asst. manager watches here and there. I don't talk about it too much with him just cuz

Just weird because wrestling seems like non-existent in my parts. Wrestling can be cool again, but god damn it just gets worse every year, when compared to 97-00

Goddamnit stop complaining, if you don't like it don't fucking watch it.Atleast there were parts I liked about the show during the time when KK kept throwing that shit at me, but damn be abit more positive.

Anyhow, my family hates wrestling, but i got into it through my friends.

Noboby talks wrestling anymore. My dad will occasionally channel surf and catch a few things on Raw and always says how stupid it is blah blah blah. The last thing he said was after seeing Rowdy Roddy Piper. "I remember when he was on Channel 8 Wrestling and Harley Race was the champ. Now he looks like an old alcoholic." Face it guys and gals, wrestling is great to us, but to most people, wrestling just isn't cool.

Most of my friends rnt wrestling fans, but a mate of mine came to show with me for a laugh cause i had a spare ticket and actully got pretty into it, we were cheering for all the heels lol

My dad hates it. He keeps saying to me 'You do know it's fake, right?' And it aways annoys me, cuz whenever my dad sits down to watch it, something really stupid and childish happens, knowing my luck, next time he sits down 'The Boogeyman' will debut...

My family didn't care about Wrestling during the Attitude Era but they'd still watch and they would laugh in some scenes or say it was entertaining. However, today, they always say, "it used to be better a few years ago, seems like no one cares about wrestling anymore."

My dad hates wrestling, I get asked when I'm going to "grow out of it" constantly, and if he does watch it with me, he sits there picking holes in it. Pretty much everyone I know seems to be relatively indifferent about it, they don't feel the need to bitch about that fact that I watch it anyway.

My mum didn't like me watching it during the Attitude Era.

Mostly because I about 9 or 10 years old and my mum didn't like some of the gimmicks, like The Godfather and his Ho's, Val Venis (the porn star), Austin (The guy who swears, flips people off and drinks beer) and The Undertaker.

But now she's ok with it, but she sometimes says how stupid it is.(Mostly when I watch SmackDown!)

My brother hates wrestling, always says I'm sad for watching it and it's all fake. The ironic thing is though that it was him that got me into it in the first place. As soon as I became a fan, which was about 6 years ago, he went off it.

My Mum and Dad just find it funny that I watch wrestling. When I started watching when I was about 9, they just laughed and thought it would just be a matter of time before I grew out of it. I'm now nearly 15 and I think they're just accepting that I'm gonna be a fan for life! They hardly ever bad mouth it though, I've been to a few shows with my old man and he actually got quite into it. He doesn't like watching it on TV though.

Most of my friends say they've grown out of it. I can't see how you can grow out of wrestling to be honest. It's a programme suitable for all ages IMO. I've actually been getting 3 of my friends back into it recently, which can only be a good thing for wrestling I suppose. My girlfriend always goes on about how it's gay and all, but she watched a RAW with me a few weeks back and she didn't mind it and she hasn't said a bad thing since.

As for my friends, I had one friend who was really liked it, and we always used to talk about it, back when Smackdown was on Sky One, that is. He doesn't have Sky Sports and can't watch WWE Experiance because he goes fishing on Sundays. So whenever I mention WWE, he looks like he couldn't give a shit anymore.

Another one is a total nut, who stays up and watches Raw and PPV's, even though he has school the next day, I'm not that nuts and set my video to tape it while I'm asleep. But he always spoils the results for me before I've watched it. I'm wondering what I'm gonna do for No Mercy.

These bunch of retards in my year did that for me during the draft, because they knew I was like the biggest WWE fan in the year. I'd tape RAW's and watch them after school on Tuesdays, but they'd go on the net Tuesday mornings before school and see who got drafted and spoiled it for me. I was so pissed off.

I really only have one friend who watches it, and he moved to Maine in 2003......I still see him occasionally when he comes back here to visit, but outside of that we've lost touch. As far as I know, he's still a massive fan. I had another friend that watched every show as well, but he's been hella busy the past month or so and has basically stopped caring.

So I'm alone, basically</font>

I have a wide range of friends with a wide range of imput on it. My former wrestling partners and what not, most of them stopped watching wrestling because they said it lost all heart. They hung up their tights and that was it. I have some friends who haven't watched since the InVasion of wCw. A couple still tune in once in a great while, but they don't like it other then "Hey that guy [Carlito] is like pussy Rock." (Don't ask I don't know what it meant either). The last group of friends I have will sit down and watch it if it's on in the room, they know nothing about it, but they all seem to love guys like Big Show or Batista just because they are so fucking big. They usually ask questions about who everyone is and think it's funny I know alot of their histories both storyline wise and in real life. Then if Hogan is ever one people start rolling around on the floor laughing that he would even try to get in the ring...yet they all seem to love Ric Flair...probably because I would kill them if they didn't.

Honestly, even the guys who used to watch it all the time don't anymore. Once they lost Rocky and Austin I think they lost the masses.

Nobody in my family cares anymore. They tried so hard (esp. when I was younger) to get me to quit watching, and I never did. So now no one bothers me about it.

I have one or two friends that still watch. Which is ok.

my mom always says "I can't believe you still watch this crap. I thought it was just a phase." lol

my dad hated it back then, but I dunno, he watches it every now and then now.

nobody else in my family watches. my cousin (3 yrs younger) watched it back in the Attitude.

My mum hates it. Always discourages me from watching "that crap". And she doesn't know that I watch ECW.

My brother likes it so there's no problem there.

As for friends, they are total marks. They say "Cena rules", "Christian sucks" and "Hogan is great". I shake my head sometimes.

My mom hates it. She thinks it's just a phase of rebellion that I'm going through and that I'll grow out of it. But sometimes when I watch it, she'll watch a segment (and it's usually the worst part of the night) and denies even more that I watch it. My dad thinks its foolish, and my sister thinks I like it just for the 'sweaty men rolling around in spandex'. My friends deem it 'fake' and 'retarded' and think that you can absolutly not get hurt. So I'm pretty much the only one. I do have one friend who watches it, but she's been really busy now and doesn't have anytime. So aside from you all, I don't really have any wrestling buddies. But I'm counting on my friend who watches it to go to Armegeddon in Providence this December. If she doesn't go, I can't go. So pretty much everyone thinks that I'm insane.

Funny enough, my mom used to like wrestling and when she's around when I'm watching, she'll watch for alittle bit. My dad, used to like it, but thinks it's too fake nowadays. My brother probably wonders why I randomly go WOOO and slap my chest and do the Orton pose.

Friends, only two of my friends I really talk to and go watch wrestling. Anyone else is like "why the hell are you watching that? It's fake".

Back in the day all of my friends used to watch it but most stopped caring when wwe fucked up the Invasion angle.

My mom hates and my sisters have been asking me "when are you gonna grow out of it" since I was about 10 and 9 years on they still cant believe I watch it.

My dad was a fan during the 1970's and 1980's Mainly The WWWF and NWA, but a few Australian Federations as well.

1980's back when the World title was defended against all countries. He doesn't like what the business has become, pure business and all out storylines, He says a storyline is good, but they go overboard.

My Dad wants all the young wrestlers who have worked hard to be given a title shot, they don't have to win it, just give them a title shot to give the young wrestlers hope that someday they might just win that title if they work hard enough.

He is strongly against DQ in Title matches, says that cheating is wrong, but it's up to the other wrestler to fight against their opponents cheating.

My mother doesn't like Wrestling. plain as simple.

My Cousins like Wrestling, Ashley Likes the fighting side while Steve likes the package of it, he likes it when a Wrestler does a great looking move. We all get together to play Wrestling Video games

And myself... Well I obviously like Wrestling always have, I can actually see myself getting into the business itself one day, either as an announcer, ref, manager or even a wrestler. but most probably a manager/announcer, I have a good voice :naughty:

my sisters watched from the start of the invasion to the end of WMX8 with me

my dad was a wrestling fan and was at the first wrestlemania in toronto.
He stopped watching when he saw a wrestler who was bloodied up during a match walk by him perfectly fine when he went to the bathroom in a live event, just a few minutes after the match. LOL (he stopped watching after finding out it was fake)

Most people I know stopped watching when Austin/Rock left, or just say "lol it's fake" and then when i tell them everytying on tv is fake they mention sweaty oily men touching each other.

My dad doesn't care that I watch it, he supportive, he stayed up to watch Wrestlemania 18 on his own as I was there, and tapes Raw/Smackdown etc when I go.

With my friends, it's pretty 50-50, half are fans, half arn't....it's a good mix.

My girlfriend hates it, but accepts the fact i'm a fan.

Funny this topic has come up because i've been getting more grief than usual from my friends for watching wrestling.

It nice to show someone something from time to time than looks nasty (Paul London at the Rumble) and see their reaction, they have their mouth's open like goldfish for a few seconds and then quickly say that they know how to fall and how fake wresting is.

Putting it simply - I get shit from everyone. I tried to have the Wrestling Channel on as much as possible, but my housemates just won't have it - and they have a point too because from a layperson's POV, wrestling looks pretty lame.

My girlfriend does well to put up with it. She makes a big deal out of it and makes snacks for some of the PPV but recently I've sensed her discontent and stopped watching with her so much. We even missed a 1PW show here (with Corino, Sandman, Aries and Dreamer - people I've wanted to see for years) because I could tell she really didn't want to go.

I speak to a few guys from my college and they say 'shit, you still like that wrestling stuff?' Feels kinda stupid but its hard to give up.

Most of my friends used to be pretty big fans, not anymore though. They still like it but only watch it when I'm around. My one friend who can't get out of the past thinks everybody that he's never seen before (i.e. not Austin, Rock, Bret Hart etc.) is gay, granted one of them in John Cena.

And as for my friends that have never really been fans...Well a lot of you think women's wrestling is a waste of time, the whole bar wacthed the Handi-Cap bra and panties match at homecoming, then went back to their beers.

My dad wished I would grow out of years ago. My sister was a huge Angle and Lesnar fan. She used to watch the PPVs with her friend, but then her friend got married so she doesn't any more.

my dad was the same when I used to watch it @ his house. but it was funny cos he'd say "oh this is so fake", then HBK would take a bump and blade and he'd b like "wow, did he actually hurt himself then? Did he actually hit him?" That always helped justify me watching a "fake" sport.

The worst thing tho was that almost everytime my dad came in 2 watch about of it, it would always b Eugene...:nono:

I think its cool 2 show ppl who aren't fans of wrestling a really cool match, such as a Benoit VS Angle classic (Cage match on Smackdown, Unforgiven, Royal Rumble). This helps ppl realise that it maybe fake but geeze, you do need to have some awesome skills
