View Full Version : Something to think about - ECW

-- WWE has contacted the owners of the former ECW Arena about running the June 2006 ECW One Night Stand PPV.
:naughty:
I know its a long way off but i loved ECW One Night Stand 1. So 2 should be pretty amazing stuff if they can get Sandman, Sabu, Dreamer and Co back for this one.
I wonder if Rhyno would consider working the show. Or even Raven by that time.. who knows.
Its good news though - at least ECW is still alive, even if its just one night a year. They proved they could still put on a great ECW show once.. can they do it again??
Something else to think about - RVD will be 100% and have matches under his belt by that time..

Yeah, no Dudley Boyz is gonna blow, and alienating them with the names may be a mistake. Those ECW boys have a lot of respect for each other, and so I wouldn't be shocked if some former ECW talent were more reluctant to sign with the WWE as a result of something like that.

The emotions are going to be diluted. We all said this when the first ONS stand rolled about and all the n00bs wanted a weekly ECW show. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to watch - but it somewhat tarnishes the memory of the great event jusrt gone.

I just want to see Van Dam vs Rhyno. For a sense of compleation.

I really dont see the point in another ecw ppv.Dont get me wrong i love ecw,but currently a good portion of their stars are signed to TNA.Which means we'll be stuck with a main event like Balls Mahoney vs The Blue Meanie.

I know. But for a guy who literally broke his back for the company, it'd be a great send-off. I posted a scenario when ONS rolled about this year about how I'd like Dreamer to win the title. It went like this...
Following the last match of the night, all the ECW stars are in the ring saying their goodbyes to the loyal fans, very emotional blah blah.
Then Rhyno's music hits, and the Man-beast comes out from behind the curtain with the ECW belt around his waist!!! Rhyno stalks down to the ring, dips under the ropes and walks straight in between the celebrations, grabbing the microphone off whoever has it.
Rhyno yells into the mic that he was the last ever ECW champion, and a show without the last ever champion would be an injustice and a fraud. All these guys in the ring now don't have the ability or the balls to face him one on one and they better get out of his ring now before he gores the first sorry son of a bitch who gets in his way.
Just then Tommy Dreamer's music hits. The Innovator of Violence charges down to the ring, points at Rhyno, points at himself and points at the belt. Rhyno stares back, rubbing his hands together, grinning and nodding maniacly (in that wa he does). The ECW stars pile out the ring.
The match starts with Rhyno basically owning Dreamer with a few near falls and Dreamer receiving hard punishment. The ECW stars act as lumberjacks, comforting and rolling Dreamer back in and beating Rhyno whenever they can get close to him. Just as the match looks over, with a dazed Dreamer set up for the Gore and Rhyno ready to pounce in the corner.... Raven jumps the rail, onto the apron and cracks Rhyno hard with a singapore cane.
Rhyno staggers into Dreame, who is as dazed as he is, and manages to get Rhyno onto his shoulders.... hitting the Spicolli Driver. Ref John Finegan counts 1.....2......THREE! Dreamer is the new, and last ever, ECW champ.
On commentary Tazz is going insane saying "OH MY GOD.... Raven! He wasn't even meant to be here.... he says he wasn't going to be here....."
Raven walks solemnly up the ramp. In a scene reminscent of wrestlemania X, Dreamer is on the shoulder of the rest of the locker room and Raven (playing the reluctant Owen hart role) on top of the ramp... he gives Dreamer a single glance,a thumbs up, and then through the curtain in a show of ultimate respect for his old nemesis.
End show with Dreamer craddling the belt that got away (albeit those brief 30 seconds) and the ECW crowd chanting those familiar letters... E C DUB! E C DUB! E C DUB!

Good stuff Chavo. I would still rather see the VD match. Dreamer has had the belt where VD hasn't (VD  ) not to mention that the last main event feud was set to be VD/Rhyno. On that grounds I vote for the VD/Rhyno match. That and there is no more ECW heavyweight championship.

Running another "One Night Stand" show will be disasterous.

Well personally i felt it was PPV of the year so how could the second one fail?
I mean think about it, this show will be more about matches now that the original hysteria has gone - Raw and Smackdown invading. Id love to see SABU, RVD, SANDMAN, RHYNO, RAVEN, BWO, CRAZY JAPANESE GUY, and maybe even TAZ(Z) having one last match.. i mean why not???
He could train himself quietly behind the scenes next year and put on one last great match against Sabu or maybe RVD. Or BOTH in a triple threat! - Id also like to see the REAL REY MYSTERIO, not the watered down version.
Still so much they could do even without the dudleys.. sorry Vince Team 3d! Id like to see a few more gimmick matches maybe scaffold, or a crazy ladder match of some sort.
There's still a lot they could do with ECW, even just in one night.
How about Kane Vs Sabu or Sabu Vs Mick Foley?? Some inter-promotion matches could be awesome!

There's a reason why One Night Stand was so good, because the feeling was it was just going to be one night and everyone knew they wouldn't have another chance to show there emotions for ECW again in this way, so everyone was letting it all out and was really fired up.
It just wouldn't be the same the second time round. I like ECW, but if Vince does it again it'll seem too much like he's just trying to get the money off ECW rather than celebrating ECW.Only reason I would want ECW to have another PPV though is to see RVD have a match.

I don't see the point in complaining about a second one night stand. The first one was amazing, and I mean the PPV live, not the DVD edition of the show.
No TNA wrestlers will be on the show.

ECW resurrected the first time was special. ECW being resurrected a second time one year later isn't special.
IT's just a repetitive process. It would no longer hold the specialness of a true ECW: One Night Stand feel. Sure it would be nice to see Rey do an ECW style match and ditch the 619. Sure it would be nice to see RVD back showcasing his skills in front of the crowd ECW style but overall it would almost be a waste.
All in all that specail feeling that was once there with the ONS won't be there. It would have maybe half that special feeling simply because it's been done before. Some things can be repeated and still have that special feeling in it. But resurrecting a brand for a show a year? It doesn't have that same appeal or magic. It would be best to just leave it at the one and only ONS and not go for a second one.

I think I have earned the right to not make a big long post, and have most people believe me when I say I have my reasons...
NO. Do not do another One Night Stand. Hardcore Homecoming is going on tour, that's all you need.
