I just started listening to this track again lately because i heard the instrumental version on tv recently.
Its still a time less track in my eyes. Something i listen to quite a lot on WinAmp. Granted Kanye's getting all my play at the moment because 5 or 6 of his songs are the shit on his new album.
Is Jay-Z one of the most underated rappers in history?? Its just something that JUST ran through my mind i thought id share it with you all. :D
Anyone else listen to some of Jay-Z's older tracks?
Also ive started listening to the Blueprint 2 - Unplugged album and i have to say thats some awesome rap music. :y:

Well if you've ever listened to the black album you'd realise he thinks the same thing himself.
He's just as good at rapping as Biggie and Pac was.. its just he hasn't made the same killer records that they did.
But he's still young and maybe he just needs a few killer records to get the respect he deserves.

You're retarded. I love Jay-Z. but the LAST thing he is is underrated.
you know how much classic shit he's come out with?? REasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime, Vol. 1, the first Blueprint, and the Black Album are all fucking classic hip-hop records (and yes, I own them all).

I respect your a big Jay-Z fan like myself. I have every album too.
He is underated - He hasn't got as much love as Pac and Biggie did.
Im sure i remember him saying something like that himself - Maybe i have to fade to black for you to see that.. Something along those lines i recall.
The retard comment.. well i didn't like that personally. SO A BIG FUCK YOU! :D
I dont flame but i respond. :naughty:
Maybe he's not quite in Pac's league i got carried away there. But i do believe if he died everyone who wasn't on the Jay-Z bandwagon would be..
Right now i think he's the best there is (alive)
Problem is outside of the rap industry noone really gives a fuck about Jay-Z's music. They just get hard ons because he's with Beyonce. :nono:

I agree after thinking about it for a while.
But you must admit he could be with the right material.
Pac was and forever will be outstanding (R.I.P PAC) probably the best rapper in history.
Jay-Z though now has probably made more albums than Pac (if not he must be close) he talks about the same things in his music, and as a person himself he's pretty real. I really think that even Jay-Z himself kicks himself and wonders why he isn't the biggest rapper on the planet. Have a look back at the black album and you'll see what i mean.

the fact is Jay-Z is proably is the biggest mainstream rapper out there, but the problem is that mainstream hip-hop has not recovered since the death of biggie and pac. Jay-Z can be good when he wants to be look at Reasonable Doubt and Vol. 2, but he does not really deal with the deep issues that Pac or Biggie did and when he did people and him would always be like "yeah Jay-z is taking hip hop to the next level," even though Pac already did it before. The one really good aspect about Jay-Z is that he never wrote down his rhymes, he came up with them in his mind and then memorized them. So no I would not consider Jay-Z to be at all under rated
