WWE World champion Batista recently did a chat with The London Sun discussing a number of topics. Highlights include:

The Reaction to Batista criticizing the Smackdown roster last year: " Oh yes - tons of heat! I got lectured by Vince McMahon, The Undertaker and all the way down. I had good friends who just turned on me. Well, I thought they were good friends. Some of them are not with the company now. But I spoke from my heart then and I still feel that today. Maybe I chose the wrong forum to voice that opinion but I was speaking from the heart. When we were having that discussion we were talking about the competition between Raw and Smackdown. I didn't mention anybody on Raw, but there were guys on Raw I had the same sentiment about - who were absolutely lazy, had no passion and I thought should not be there. The same goes now. I'm putting my foot in my mouth again but I still think there are guys on both shows who are lazy, couldn't care less and show no dedication. But we're slowly weeding those guys out. I want everybody in this company to work as hard as me, Triple H and The Undertaker do. I want them to sack the guys who lack the passion for this business and this company - I don't want them to be part of my show. Some of the guys who I think should be on their way out the door are still being given opportunities to shine, and it's up to them to take the bull by the horns and show that they really want to be out there."

Whether the move to Smackdown was a demotion: "Looking at the two shows compared to last season I wouldn't say Raw have a stronger talent base. On Smackdown we have Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and The Undertaker. That's a very strong line-up. I get a sense that we're starting over and building the brand - telling new stories and starting new feuds. Right now we're in the transition phase and once we get our feet under us - especially now we're on Friday nights - it's going to be a whole new Smackdown."

His Feud with JBL: "It was very difficult and I was a little disappointed with our matches. JBL and I have absolutely zero chemistry. Enough said about that."

The Muhammad Hassan character: "Muhammed Hassan, a different person would have made that character work. He was helped a lot with his promos and in the ring I don't think he held his own at all. Daivari, on the other hand, was perfect - if only we could have taken Daivari's mind and stuck it in Muhammed Hassan's body. I liked Mark Copani as a person, but he's one of the people whose heart just wasn't in it. He said he could live "with or without" wrestling and that is hard to listen to for guys like me who live and breathe for this business."

OVW preparing WWE talents: "I really wasn't prepared well for the WWE in OVW and when I came up there were a few times where my job was in jeopardy - and I think that's not fair. There are still people brought up without the right preparation. Look at Bobby Lashley - I don't even think he's close to ready. Bobby Lashley, if held back for a while, could have been another Brock Lesnar. He's got the amateur accolades and he's an incredible athlete."

TNA as a competitor to WWE: "I've actually not ever watched any of their shows. I saw a press conference that they did, which I wasn't very impressed with. I've also seen clips of their car wreck matches with AJ Styles doing his stunts. That's not wrestling. Wrestling is storytelling. But at the same time, I have friends in TNA and I wish them the best. Those type of matches definitely have their place, it's just not my thing. I also welcome the competition, which I think can only be good for the wrestling business."

Being World Champion: "I remember having a drink with Undertaker before I won the title. I told him I was enjoying myself and he said: "Enjoy it while it lasts, because when you win that title you'll be working your ass off." Being world champion is physically so demanding, ask anybody who has held the belt. You're constantly travelling and working and there is also the mental pressure, as you're stressing over business aspects that you've never had to worry about before."

His Dream Wrestlemania opponent: "Brock Lesnar, without a doubt. It's a dream match for a lot of people, including myself. We could have the bout that Goldberg v Lesnar should have been. People expected so much from that, but neither one of them had their hearts in it. I think if Brock did return my heart would be in it, as would his - we've always had a healthy competition between us. I have sent the message out to Brock as much as I can, I really hope he comes back. He said he's done a lot of growing up and mentally I believe he's ready to return. So much weight was put on his shoulders at the time so fast, and he was just a kid then, that he couldn't cope with it."

He got heat from Vince McMahon for trashing Smackdown, well at least that shows VKM cares a little about SD!

Muhammed Hassan failed because of the performer...if Daivari were Muhammed Hassan it would've been perfect. Well I'll agree if Hassan wasn't even bothered about wrestling, your heart must be in it.

Bobby Lashley's not ready? Well I know a few in TPWW who'd have a thing to say about that...

A good read.

One thing really caught my mind...he called TNA's matches a car wreck, and AJ Styles a stuntman...this bothered me because has he even seen his own matches?! Batista has no room to talk when it comes to wrestling ability.

He's never seen TNA but then thrashes the matches claiming that it's 'not wrestling' and it's 'not storytelling'. Yeah. because his classic epics with JBL told great stories. :nono:

I gotta give Batista some advice:

When you're being interviewed, don't trash anyone. Trust me, it wont work in your favour. Just say everyone's great and fine, if you insult people, it's gonna come back at you. For example:

CRIME: Batista trashes Smackdown terribly calling the wrestlers lazy, useless, no heart.

TIME: Batista is sent to Smackdown in the draft lottery.

Need I say more?

It sounded like Batista was talking out of his ass. Everything he said, (to me at least) seemed like it was the opinions of others (the higher ups I'd wager) in the company and now Batista is using their opinions, as his own.

Don't know what show he was watching. Copani played the character perfectly, and the only reason that it didn't work out was because of a bunch of bitches that got him off TV, the second they had the chance.

I respect Dave's honesty and all... but he insulted TNA's style and he has never seen it, and that is really disrespectful. He was honest about the shittiness of him and JBL but he needs to realize that the WWE doesn't revolve around Dave Batista, he was manufacutred in a very short time, and they could make another Batista in a heart beat.

I may be a Lashley mark, but he is definatly ruff around the edges. So with that Batista and I concur. When it comes to Lashley he has a lot of work to do but in a few years time he is going to be the man.

I dont think there is too much wrong with twhat he has said to be honest. Critisizing TNA without viewing a range of there work is wrong but lets be honest when VKM is trashing TNA as not worthy Batista cant go out there and say TNA is a threat or that TNA is even good. THats just stupid.

I agree with him about people not having the heart, if you dont have the heart dont do it. Wrestling is not a business where you can half ass it, it is all or nothing.

Bobby lashley is rough around the edges, shit almost every talent that comes up from OVW we all say they look rough and unprepared. Lashley has a natural in ring charaisma that sets him apart but imagine what another year or two of training could have done for him.

And Pullmyfinger, Batista can work. Sure he is no Chris Daniels but that is not his style, he is a heavyweight brawler/impact wrestler and by damn he is pretty good at it. I do agree he is wrong to trash AJ when he hasnt seen many of his matches but Batista is no slouch.

And Jordan X he is the cahmpion, he shouldregard it as his company because he is the flag bearer. He is the benchmark and the "money man" of the company and the fans do love him. Also I doubt that they could build anyone up to the same level in a heartbeat, people dont automaticaly get over in a push. Batista has a charisma that people like and as such through that and his in ring work he has taken the ball and i feel very much run with it.

Yeah, exactly. Lashley can't be older than 25. That's plenty of time to mould him into a true superstar.

I definitely respect his honesty, though I disagree about Styles. That's just generalization.

He's got a good point about Copiani not having his heart in it (or else why would he leave like that?). The character was still awesome tho, IMO. I think Mark had the heart in the character, and maybe Dave meant the wrestling part.

In any case, as long as he doesn't get a big head, it's cool.

 at his "work as hard as Triple H and The Undertaker do." I'm a huge Taker mark, but seriously... how much work does he actually do? LOL

WWE World champion Batista recently did a chat with The London Sun discussing a number of topics.

Damn, it's just called The Sun and The Scottish Sun.

Just because it's based in London doesn’t mean it's only for London.

It's just like the Americans and The Queen. She is called The Queen Of Britain. Not The Queen Of England!

Just because she lives in England doesn’t mean that she is the Queen of it.

Are you serious? What was he suppose to do? He was basically kicked off of both networks, told by the WWE that they had to drop the character, and was sent home. There was no info given about him being repackaged. Chances are, he was going to be stereotyped into that role, and eventually released.

Corkscrewed
10-16-2005, 01:21 AM
Yeah, but my devil's advocate point was that if he was truly into it, then he would have waited till he WAS released. Or he would have gone to TNA. Instead, he decided (and I don't oppose his decision) to try acting instead, which indicates that wrestling wasn't necessarily his life as it is for a lot of wrestlers.

I'm not faulting him for that, just being technical.

Mr. JL
10-16-2005, 02:20 AM
So fucking what if you do not have you're heart in the wrestling business! As long as you do you're job to you're full potential and are good at it, whether or not you have heart, should not matter.

To me, that excuse has always come from people who have love/heart for a sport or job, but were jealous because some other person who does the job to their full potential but does not love the job, does it better than them.

I figured as much. What I'm wondering though, is if he's not going to TNA so he doesn't burn bridged with WWE ( Who has a film company. So in theory, WWE can meet both his movie and rasslin needs)

Even though Bats is champ I dont think he has the right to say after only being in the business for a few years after leaving body building.

I also dont think anyone would really read this and respect Bats opinion and believe that there would be any truth behind what he says.

Afterlife

Point #1) We're arguing with a report. He's not going to hear us, and we're all just telling him he's wrong, anyway. I don't think everything he said was right, either, but I also don't think he said any of it to piss people off. He was layin' it out the way he sees things. Giving his perspective. That's what we read; it was not him taunting us.

Point #2) Copani did a decent job. I say "decent" b/c the character itself bored me. So, yeah, when it came to having a good look and an adequate in-ring ability, he was fine. His promos sucked -- not b/c he was bad at it -- but b/c they were tedius. Basically, he was extremely good at being mediocre. And just so we understand about the "heart" and the "making a character work", he was supposed to go to OVW to lay low for a while and to return eventually with something new. Daivari himself said that Marco simply never showed up. Seems to me, if you have it in you to try, you do your job and you WORK with the company. But perhaps I'm mistaken, I'm not claiming to be a know it all.

Point #3) Savior, I said it before and I'll say it again: You're an idiot. You can negative rep me all you want, but these forums -- I would hope -- are on some level respected by the people who use them, and for you to jump into a thread of actual conversation and knowledgeable input, simply to post something as useless and sophomoric as "Batista sucks" is just this side of infuriating. I don't neg-rep ppl myself, but if I did, you'd have earned your weight by now. Just my advice; obviously, you don't have to take it, but here it is: Don't be a jackass.

Batista's would sell way more because WWE is a marketing machine. AJ is incredible, and yes most of AJ's matches are better than anything Batista could hope to have, don't kid yourself; when it comes right down to mass market appeal and marketing WWE is light years ahead of TNA, ROH, etc and as result Bat's would outsell AJ's.

Another fact to face, is that without someone like Double J, or Raven or someone who actually knows how to wrestle, AJ is no better than Sabu, Jeff Hardy, or any other spot machine out there.
