it's possible to oversell moves? I'm a big fan of John Cena, and i personally think he oversell's to much. Now, i know there are alot of wrestler's who don't sell enough (HHH, and Undertaker to name a few), but do you think it's possible to sell to much or am i looking into this to much? I don't know, it just bother's me when someone takes a move, and sells it like it cripples them, then someone else takes the same move the next week and it's like it had hardly any affect on them. Anyways, thoughts...opinions....

YES.There is such a thing as overselling.

It actually makes the moves look like more of a joke than make them
look good. Sometimes you'll see a guy who takes one punch and flies
all around the ring. If you look back at the early 1990's WWF Monday
Night RAW's,you'll see some of the really green jobbers overselling....

For them it's understandable, but for the "real pros" it's kinda lame

It's very possible to oversell, and it looks as bad as underselling quite often.

The only move that i find to be over-sold sometimes is the "Stone Cold" Stunner. I mean i remember whenver Billy Gunn/D-Von received The Stunner, they would flop around like a fish, whats the point in that?

I remember when Booker T came into the 2002 Rumble at #30, he eliminates RVD right away, looking strong. He does a Spinaroonie, and when he turns he receives a Stunner, and he oversells by walking backward and basically going over the top rope, making it almost look like he eliminated himself.

That sucked. :(

Backward roll into a handstand, then flopping onto his belly and rolling over a couple of times.

Best example of an oversell is Curt Hennig's sell of a Hiptoss (You'd think he was going into the Stratosphere)

Austin says in his book that Shane is the best one to sell the stunner

Brock sells well. I remember him getting low blowed by Matt Hardy when he first debuted and he sold it well, even while destroying the future VeeeOneuhhh

I think RVD oversells the 5-Star. Yeah, there's a huge impact and it takes something outta him, but when he can't get to the pin quickly... Yeah.

I actually think the way Scott Hall sells the Stunner is alot better.

The Rock kinda overselled in his match against Hogan at No Way Out.

Anybody who was pinned by Hogan during his last stay, totally oversold his Finisher. I mean this is the day of the F-5, The Pedigree, Batista's massive powerbomb, are we really to beleive anybody would stay down after receiving "The Atomic Leg-Drop". :wtf:

Personally I don't think there is any such thing as overselling. I figure if you make your opponent look strong it's all for the better. I love ting people take the Stone Cold Stunner like it just broke there body. It's aweseom when people took the Atomic Leg Drop and make it looke like they be decappatated. It's all part of the theater of wrestling.

Yes, ironically it was the only thing he sold in his whole career... including tickets and merchandise.

That's all good only when everybody sells the same move the same way.

There's a line that often gets crossed between actual selling of the
move to make it look like it hurt, and making it look like a cartoon pi-
ano fell on your head. It's silly.....as some have said,The Rock does
oversell quite often, and RVD does on the 5-Star Frog Splash.

D-Von Dudley's overselling is part of his character.Often he'll take a
finisher or a basic move and go into a complete body spasm....

I don't think RVD oversells the 5-Star. With the huge height that he gets off the top rope, I don't doubt that it knocks the wind out of him. Obviously, not as badly as he makes it look, but still knocks the wind out of him. Besides, it looks great when he bounces off the guy after the initial impact.

LOL @ Rock's Stunner sell. Me and my friends used to make fun of that all the time.
