View Full Version : Am I the only one who will miss The Hurricane?

He's been amongst my top favorites since the Hurricane gimmick debuted. I mean, I know it's about time for him to move on, but I can't see this change being any good for him. He'll still be lower midcard fodder, more than likely. They're treating this feud with Rosey like it's nothing but an afterthought. So you know that can't be good for his future.

You know...
(1) It's a shame that people automatically assume that certain people will be midcarders for life. Didn't some people think that about Edge?
(2) What the fuck is up with WWE airing important things on Unlimited? I was at my g/f's house watching RAW and she doesn't have Internet access where we watched it. Idiots. I think Unlimited is only a good idea if they have unimportant stuff on there.

A lot more people thought Edge and Jeff HArdy were going places.

I believe you just contradicted yourself. If they really planned on pushing Hurricane somewhere, do you really think they would've aired that segment on Unlimited?

I think the Hurricane Gimmick has run it's course. He should've turned about 2 years ago but if this marks the return of the Vertibreaker...I'll be all for it.

Piledrivers are banned. Do you really expect to see the Vertebreaker?

Yeah, and Edge for the most part is a crappy midcarder, well maybe upper-midcareder. A better example would have been JBL.

And yes, I'm going to miss the Hurricane, but it's time that he moves on.

Keep dreaming...The Vertibreaker is done and over with.
This will lead to a match between Gregory Helms and Rosey at a PPV, it won't matter who wins because next week they will both be wrestling on HeAT and soon after that will be dropped.
Now as to whoever said people thought Edge was doomed to be a midcarder for life...actually since Edge arrived in WWE he has been always used in that "at any point we can make him a main eventer" type thing. I am just personally shocked (and pleased) they havn't run with the Edge ball yet...once he does go over big I have very little doubt Edge will be one of the top men in WWE for quite some time.
Spoiler warning is not needed as this happened over a week ago. (The slapping Rosey and removing the mask thing)
Helms isn't that great in the first place...get over any frustration you may have. This is still just left over anger from the entire "Vince misuses every single WCW wrestler" era...
Am I the only one who will miss The Hurricane?
No saddly there will be more who for whatever reason will continue to have a longing to hear a "Wooosh" and then see a little fuck jump around in green tights...
i've said for a year that the hurricane character needed to die and i am so glad it finally has but again they fucking call him gregory helms instead of shane

To be fair his real name is Gregory Shane Helms...if by some stange act he gets over using the name Gregory Helms he can continue to use the name after he is let go...HOWEVER because Shane is his middle name he wouldn't have legal rights to use that outside the WWE if they (or rather when they) decide to trademark it. And while we are on the subject, when the InVasion was going on and Shane McMahon was in charge so Helms could no longer use Shane, it is my understanding that Gregory LIKED the idea of using his real name.

I really liked the hurricane, always did. Even got the same tattoo that Shane Helms had (got it when he was back in WCW). I'm excited for this new twist, while still being happy about the warm fuzzy that was left by the Greatest Super Hero of All Time.

Yeah, Hurricane was an alright character, favorite hurri-moment was the double chokeslam attempt on Triple H-Austin at Royal Rumble 2002.
I think the character change will be similar to the Kerwin White change. Some comical moments, but nothing big.

I will miss the character, but as it's been pointed out, he's probably done about all he'll be allowed to do as The Hurricane. It's a shame this comes at a time when Flair is a babyface, or he could've used Flair's speeches on him on Raws earlier in the year as well as last year as motivation and seen if Flair would take him under his wing.
Of course, that COULD have happened with Helms as a babyface, but that's not the road they've gone with Hurricane being done. I just hope they do SOMETHING with him and make him a decent player.

Rock carried him big time
I don't think that's accurate at all. Personally, I just think they worked well together and had some chemistry. I didn't find Rock's stuff with Booker T, for example, to quite have the same element of entertainment to it, and that's no knock on Booker T.

<font color=goldenrod>I loved the gimmick and the wrestler...though I admit it's probably run its course and it's time to move on
I'm shocked to think back at the fact that he's had the gimmick for four years.

As much as I enjoyed the comic relief that Hurricane's character brought to the show, I think Helms looked purely sinister in that maroon shirt he wore last night. He will make a sick heel, if pushed right. Not huge, but he will do well, possibly get a belt somewhere along the lines.

Yes and i'll tell you why.
Gregory Helms could be a main eventer a year or so down the line if he's built up right. Maybe have him side with Triple H or another heel like Angle.
He has massive potential on the mic, is a great worker in the ring, and hell he's still fairly young so i think he could be huge. :y:
The Hurricane was entertaining when the Rock was around because they played off eachother brilliantly, but for around a year now the characters become boring and predictable. So i think it was time for a change for Helms personally. :y:
I really think he could go all the way, good luck Helms! :y:
