What's up with Jerry Jarrett meeting with WWE officials? Is he no longer working for TNA? Is TNA going under? This is weird as shit.

I hope this isn't some kind of "working arrangement" between TNA and WWE. It might get them some exposure, but Vince will shit all over them. Besides, they don't need his help. He's the motherfucking antichrist of pro wrestling.

I'm thinking it has something to do with thier wrestling library. Probably some of the Memphis footage they want now.

It is probably the Memphis footage, but I hope it is something more. Wrestling needs competition, but I like it when things get shaken up.

Maybe if they actually kept TNA, RAW & SmackDown! seperate, but under the WWE banner, things could get pretty interesting. Hell, I can easily see TNA becomming a cruiserweight show while all TNA's heavyweights get brought up to RAW & SmackDown!.

It won't happen, though.

Maybe he'll give away the Memphis footage for trademark rights? New Age Outlaws, and other future shit like that?

That seems to be the most probable explanation, and it would make sense. It would benefit both sides.

That would be bloody smart on the part of TNA, sadly I cant see TNA relenting and doing it or WWE accepting it because it would mean givintg TNA an inch.

Vince has an eye on TNA and this will be very interesting, although I highly doubt a WWE takeover is on the cards. Perhaps Jerry will sell his percentage in TNA though in return for a Jarrett WWE return. It's certainly interesting and very puzzling news, although odds are it is just about the Memphis archives.

Jerry Jarrett isn't really powerful backstage I guess anymore, AND I read that if McMahon got indicted in 1994 for the Steroids Trial, Jarrett was the one tapped to take over.......verrrrry interesting

Jerry Jarrett was in the WWE offices and it was made a pretty public deal. Jarrett had called Jerry Lawler recently and told him about being disenchanted with TNA, believing he put the company on the map and now that it is on the verge of success, he has pretty much no power. The story is he was there to negotiate with WWE for a big Russian he was representing, but at the meeting, made it clear he was unhappy with TNA. Virtually nobody, and that includes the people closest to Jeff, were aware he was going. The "other guy" that the WWE web site doesn't say but wants everyone to believe was Jeff, would have been the Russian, whose name we're not aware of. The way the story is being slipped out on the internet is a very public FU to TNA from WWE, and no doubt, Jerry perhaps even more, knowing it'll shake everyone up. To say people in TNA are pretty furious at Jerry for how he played this game would be an understatement.

First of all, how much power does Jerry still have in TNA? Does he still own it?

And why, IF he owns it, is he selling his libraries to WWE? Wouldn't it be smarter to keep them and market them himself through TNA? That just doesn't make sense to me...

Jarrett brings mountain of a man to WWE
Oct. 28, 2005

Longtime wrestling promoter Jerry Jarrett met with WWE officials this morning in Stamford, Conn., and he was not alone.

By Jarrett's side throughout his meetings with Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis (Vice President of Talent Relations for WWE) was a 6-foot-6, 310 pound monster of a man called Oleg Prudius.

"I know they were both impressed with Oleg, as is anyone that meets him," said Jarrett as he left WWE Headquarters Friday afternoon. "He's an exceptional person and a special athlete."

So with Jarrett's backing, is Prudius on his way to WWE Superstardom?

"He's a future prospect who is very interested in WWE," said Laurinaitis after meeting with Jarrett and Prudius. "He comes from a very highly-regarded amateur background. And hopefully, if things work out on both sides, we can maybe do business together."

Be sure to check back here for more information on this potential Superstar.

Well, anyhow, it doesn't matter. I read once in the past, and one of the moderators on the TNA board (take it for what you will though) stated that the Carter family have the first and last rights to purchase the shares from Jarretts.

PullMyFinger

Also...this is another reason why I say technically speaking...WWE and TNA are in a war somewhat.

This was all purely Vince trying to put down TNA, and making it look like shite. In my opinion, it worked somewhat. Also, if Jerry doesn't want to be part of TNA, then he can sell his portions to the Carters then since like I said, they have the first and last rights to purchasing it.

However, this is why Vince is at the top of the wrestling world...all these games is what made him the #1 guy that he is today.

I was out for the day yesterday when the whole "Jerry Jarrett-gate" appearance at WWE headquarters went down. That was certainly some story to break on a Friday afternoon! Here is what I have heard about his visit to Stamford.

* The big question is why did Jerry go north to begin with. Well, it's no secret that his role in TNA has been diminishing with the company for a while now, and he is not happy about that. Jarrett has made a few power plays in the past, and none of them have worked. I have also heard that he has looked for investors to work with on a promotion that would compete with TNA, with some people saying he was working to align himself with Dave Nelson, the guy who said he would be on ESPN and PPV by October (which of course never happened). From what I have heard, he feels that as one of the people who started the company, he deserves a bigger role than what he has. I know he has felt this way for over a year now, as he has told people so. There are others who started with him in TNA that feel the same way. The problem is, those who started the company would have put it out of business in three months due to gross overspending if Dixie Carter had not come along and bailed them out. The Carters then bought controlling interest in the company from the Jarretts, and the writing was on the wall as to how the power structure would go. Jeff Jarrett kept a decent amount of it, Jerry Jarrett didn't. That, in a nutshell, is the background.

* As best I can tell, TNA management did not know he was going to WWE headquarters. I can't say how surprised they were, since a number of people in the company knew that Jerry wasn't overly happy in TNA lately. But, I can tell you that from what I have heard, they are very angry about the way that Jerry played them for suckers by publicly embarrassing TNA. It wouldn't shock me if they tell him don't come back after doing this. Frankly, if I were them, I would. Jerry's last major responsibility for the company is to work the Gorilla position at TV. I would find someone else to do it if I were TNA.

* While no one is talking, the feeling is that Jerry was looking to do more with WWE than just represent a Russian wrestler. The feeling among both TNA and WWE people that I have spoken with is that he is looking to get back into WWE, where he has worked before.

* WWE loved posting the story on their site. There was a lot of crowing among WWE employees I spoke with, and rightfully so in my opinion, about how they told the world that one of the founders of the only company that could remotely be looked at as competition to them was at their offices, looking to work with them. Obviously, the message it sent was that Jarrett would rather be working with WWE than TNA and that they are the big time while TNA isn't. I think it was a brilliant move, for a perspective standpoint, for WWE to make a big deal out of the story.

* Obviously, Jeff Jarrett wasn't there. WWE wanted to make it seem that way with the story, but whoever was passing "rumors" around that it was him was totally misguided, for a number of reasons. One, he is under contract to TNA (and I believe still owns a small part of the company). Two, he is persona non grata in WWE and while you can never say never where bringing back people they don't like are concerned, this would be as surprising as any "hell froze over" deal that they have done since Jeff is so entrenched in TNA and knows how he would be treated after the initial buzz wore off (if he wasn't under contract and able to sign). He clearly remembers the ill feelings that Vince has due to Jeff holding WWE up for all of the money due him after they let his contract run out back when he was the IC champ. Of course, he got his money, did the job to Chyna and then went on to WCW, but the bitterness that Vince McMahon had for being "held up" has reportedly remained.

* In a story on the site last night, Buck Woodward mentioned the rumors that Jerry Jarrett could have also been there due to trying to sell the rights to Memphis TV footage to WWE. That is not true and impossible because he sold his half of the company to Mark Selker of XL Sports years ago, and has no such rights.

Im calling it right now, he is going to be a mega super heel russian technical wrestler who hates everything about America.

Either that or a russian athlete who has been medically enhanced so that one day he could defeat American Athletes - Think Drago from Rocky!

Will this guy ever be a Face? He just reminds me of every russian bad guy ive ever seen in the movies.

Anyone think he could have a massive feud with Kurt Angle? He has a big amateur background along with the martial arts and kick boxing, he could be massive if he can put on some good matches. :naughty:

I bet Vincent Kennedy Mcmahon is having orgasms over this big russian hoss as we speak! :shifty:
