View Full Version : SAW 2

The Greater Power
10-29-2005, 03:30 AM
Well, I saw SAW 2 tonight.

I'd say that I liked the two a bit the same. I liked the ending from SAW 1 more (how can anyone NOT like that ending?) but I like the story better in SAW 2.

Without spoiling much, all's I'm gonna say is that it's more interesting because there are more than just two people trapped in one room. We also get some GREAT acting by "Jigsaw".

Oh yeah, and there's yet again a little twist in the end. :)

Go see this shit.

Jigsaw is the only good thing in this movie. He had my full attention. The cast in the house were terrible and everything the mexican guy was doing after awhile was just irrational (talking in terms of "trying to find a way") like "why would he do that? that wasn't even necessary". Anyway, I can't say too much. Just that I was so dissapointed by the ending. Some beg to differ and I have no idea why... Even my friend was like "the ending was fucking sick" and I went in with hopes and it was actually 80% dissapointing, excluding some minor facts about the "twist" that I liked.

And I fuckin lvoed the first one too.

Sweet movie; definitely a good way to spend a Friday night.

Jigsaw was great and the ending was ingenious, tying everything from the first two acts all together, and everything making sense.

The characters in the house were alright, though some of them were just downright stupid. The drug dealer's freak out wasn't built up well enough, so when he does start going insane, we don't really understand why he's doing these things instead of trying to work together to escape. I guess he was just the asshole character though.

One of the goriest movies I've seen in a long, long time - probably because it's the first major horror picture to not be rated PG-13 in a long ass time. Highly disturbing.

God damn was this movie gory. All kinds of violent shit going on in there. I must admit that the twist at the end really fooled me. All in all, I liked it, but it didn't seem as creepy as Saw I. It was just more gory, it seems to me.

This movie was amazing, that's all I know. And the twist threw me even more.

I was sitting there like  by the time the movie was over. Hardcore.

I liked it better than the first. Just the general idea was better. It was more of a 'masterpiece' IMO. The twist at the end was freakin great.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I liked the first one better. I called a part of the ending, but a part of it still got me. I also didn't like Jigsaw for some reason. I don't think it was the same guy as the first. It was good acting, but maybe I just didn't like him having such a direct, face-to-face role in the film. Just couldn't get into him. I agree that the Drug Dealer's antics just didn't make a whole lot of sense. That said, I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Good Movie.

Spoiler warning--

When you think about the fact that everything went together as planned, from the cops arriving to the detective taking John to the house, it all falls together as a genius plan that went through so well. Amanda's heel turn at the end was sort of expected for me, but it was still much better done than John at the end of Saw 1.

and when you think about the transition and vibe saw 3 is gonna have...man...it just ruins everything. No one cares about the change?

Anything involving John and the Detective was fantastic as was the last 15-30 minutes or so, the stuff in between dealing with the people in the house was way beliw the quality of Saw 1. Still a great sequel but mostly because of the dichotmy between John and the Detective and the ending.

i thought it was ok. there were alot of parts in where i had to look away. i still think the 1st was alot better. it had a pretty gay ending.

I thought the ending was great.
All he had to do was play by the rules and it would have been fine. It just tied into the whole genious of the plans that made the puzzles that much greater.

I give this movie 6 out of ten. Some of it was horribly contrived.

the "playing by the rules" part was great. it was the very end that i hated and the whole taking over thing that i thought was dumb.

I thought it was ok..nothing extravagant. But once again the acting was poor, Xaviers' character coulda been good, but he was horrible. I liked the ending, and Jigsaw's story fuckin ruled. Like the first one...it coulda been done better.

A+ for originality in a genre thats just about dead.

Yeah, at least it's original. My best friend hated SAW, and I can't seem to figure out why. Probably because he's an idiot and can't grip the slightest grain of intelligent concepts or original ideas. Most of my other friends liked it, though. I still haven't seen it.

Now that they have a sequel, I'm going to need to get off my ass and see both. I already know some of the twists and turns in the first one, so it may lessen my enjoyment, but I have a strange feeling that this series will be the 21st century's version of Nightmare of Elm Street and Friday the 13th.

Summed up my thoughts. I am huge fan of Original. Went to see this one and just wasn't impressed. I did like Jigsaw character and the play by the rules twist but everything else wasn't great. Also was I the only one annoyed by the constant camera cuts/editing. I enjoy watching bad movies, so I deal with a lot of bad camera work. It rarely if ever bothers me though, but for Saw II it pissed me off.

Not as good as the first. Mainly due to the people in the house being really stupid and badly acted. Why were some of them even there? The blonde girl - why even bother with her character. The black guy was like the unifier but then just dissipates into nothing. Some very superfluous characters.

Having said that still really enjoyable and original. Didn't see the swerve either which is always good. Jigsaw and the cop were good too as already mentioned. I just prefered the intimacy I guess of the two main characters in the first one rather than the group setting of the second one.

I'd give it 7/10

Saw I owned Saw II:
- better character development
- a surprise ending, Saw II you expected literally anything so it wasn't as impressive although it was a different ending.
- In saw II it felt as though their punishments were optional, in Saw I they were all forced.

I really don't understand why some thought Saw II was so much better than Saw I.
