What are your thoughts on this band?

I recently picked up their new City of Evil CD, I must say WOW.

Every song almost has that "epic" feel to it IMO. Any guitar player should pick this up because of the awesome solos and riffs, great harmonizing with guitars too.

There isn't much "hardcore screaming" on it, and the singing isn't my favorite, but it's still a must own CD if you like Bat Country.

No song is shorter than 5 minutes, 11 songs almost 73 minutes. Definitely worth it.

Can't say they do anything for me, but people I know at college seem to have a thing for them.

The singer should have left after he had the vocal surgery because he is a shitty singer in my opinion. He was a decent screamer. I liked the first album a lot, the 2nd album was mostly good. The new one sounds like they are trying too hard to be a hair metal band.

I was going to say that Bat Country song is the most annoying thing I've heard since Hawthorne Heights and now the post above mine completely reaffirms my opinion.

Avenged Sevenfold...

Well, they are similar to Coheed and Cambria to me. A Guilty Pleasure band.

The new album is way different than their older heavier style. I don;t like the new album. It's way too soft. Try out their older albums, especially "Waking the Fallen".

I'm a big Avenged Sevenfold fan myself. City of Evil is nowhere near as quality of a cd as Waking the Fallen is, but with the surgery that the lead singer went through, what can you expect? I don't view them as the same band when I listen to the older two albums then listen to City of Evil. Though, I still enjoy CoE.

I wouldn't rush out and buy that CD either. If you liked that kind of music you would go and get it.

true but they were still alright even if you hate a band you still can't say they were that bad as they are known by many

Just heard that Bat Country song (tv was left on mtv, couldn't help it), and I must say what the fuck?

Seemed like slightly above average rock/punk/alternative/whatever you call it, then it turned into a metal song for 2 minutes. WOW.
