WWE non-compete's...

I've read a few places that former WWE wrestlers who were let go by the WWE are bound for a time by non-compete's.

Is this true?

I only ask, because any dealings I've ever had, if the company chooses to let you go, they have to compensate you to enforce a non-compete, otherwise they can't prevent you from taking a job in your chosen field of work.

They will pay them for 90 days, during which they can't wrestle. This clause only comes into effect if the WWE lets them out of their contract early. If it expires, they don't have that clause.

"Non-compete" sometimes only means "non-wrestling". Ric Flair, upon leaving WWF and returning to WCW in 1993 (?) was under a non-compete clause, but he was put on TV right away, just in a non-wrestling role, in his own segment called "Flair For The Gold", according to The Death of WCW. For 90 days, I believe, he was in a non-wrestling role. Once the term was up, he wrestled, but was still on TV until then. Maybe that's changed, or maybe that was a special case for Flair, being greatness and all. ;) :y:
