Vince McMahon himself is said to have gotten very angry at Jonathan Coachman for pointing out on TV once that the crowd was chanting for Kurt Angle over John Cena. Lawler had to save the day by saying people were chanting for Cena too. It's said that there's been a couple different occasions where Vince was furious with Coach for messing up. These incidents have not likely helped with Coach's nervousness with his position on the RAW announce team.
There's also been a couple occasions where Vince had Lawler correct himself on-air with some of the facts he mentions. Most notably when he said that Michaels and Hart went 60 minutes at WrestleMania 12, Vince had him correct himself and say they went well over 60 minutes.
Well, I particuarly enjoyed Coachman saying that as I felt the chants were so loud that even the commentators couldn't ignore it.
Ah well...this means there's more chance Styles will be brought in now. :) :) :)

What does Vince want them to do, ignore the loud chants?
The heel is begin cheered and the face is begin booed, the mark fans need an explanation.
I think Coach did a good job.

Go Colts!
LOL, and they think Styles isn't going to do that?
Styles will do it, and it'll be purposely and he'll back it up, too.
Of course, if Styles really does want this job, he'll keep his mouth shut, but Styles would do something like that...
Coach is a retard, though. He has no place in the announce booth. Throw him back to interview duty and leave it at that.

Well this goes to show you two problems with Raw right now:
1. JR may have had problems with who was who (Jericho and Benoit were major ones), and said some ridiculous things, but he NEVER made mistakes like Coach did. I'd rather have JR over Coach.
2. This situation underscores the major problem, the fact that the fans relate more to Kurt Angle than they do John Cena. It just goes to show you the story of the year: The fans relate to real wrestlers more than retards...

I would like it if the announcers told it as it is....if they hear a heel being chanted then they actually say that the fans are finally get behind the bad guy for once..
John Cena is just a time bomb waiting to turn heel right now...I give it possibly 2-4 months till hes heel (which is sadly 2-4 months too long)

Yeah, JR would just say something like "BAH GAWD! FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE ON THEIR FEET CHANTING FOR THE WORLD CHAMPION JOHN CENA!"
Much better. Sure makes wrestling look less stupid.

Remember WM18 and JR's comments on Rock vs Hogan....
'Some are cheering for The Rock, some are cheering for Hogan'.
Even when Lawler mentioned the Rocky Sucks chants, JR basically ignored it. Just kept saying that it was moreorless 50-50. What Coach did was say that Angle was getting louder chants then Cena. Don't make the face look weak - commentary 101.
Had he done what JR did, he'd have probably been alright.

Or, they could address the real problem...Their heel gets better pops than the new "franchise." Your little 101 memo is great, as long as you want to shatter any possible suspension of disbelief. JR, Coach, they're supposed to add to the feeling, which is impossible in a situation like this.
Maybe the WWE should stop trying to enforce what they want and wake up to the fact that it won't jive with what the fans want.

Don't forget the "That Chant ain't made of clam Chowder!" :p
Seriously, the announcer's job is to put over the product the way it is SUPPOSED TO BE, not necessarily the way it is. If he puts emphasis on how something was done, there's good reason.
JR would never say that the fans like Angle more than Cena, even if it is true.
Doesn't make the product look less stupid, it just reveals the true problem with the E right now... which was stated by you...

JR Pisses me off because he agrees with faces no matter what.
"Randy just hit Cena with a chair! that fucking dirty bastard!"
"Cena just hit randy with a chair! That the By any means necessary attitude the chian gang and I love!"

It underscores a problem which they shouldn't be covering up. JR isn't a better commentator for lying on camera and not knowing finishing maneuvers.

Coach wasn't too bad when he was teamed up with Al Snow on Heat. He had some prety rofl comments from time to time. And instead of shutting him down (like Lawler does all the time), Snow would either one up him or further delve into the topic at hand.

Vince is unhappy because The Coach said the crowd were cheering Kurt Angle, They were weren't they, don't get up Coach because the fans aren't agreeing with who you want to be the good/bad guy, do something about it, if the fans love Kurt angle, make Kurt angle a good guy, easy as that.

Well, I won't go into spoilers, but I would say they figured out how to keep the fans from cheering Angle.

Well, you know this just means they're going to censor the chants permanently.
Kinda funny how last night's Family Guy episode was about the FCC censoring and tonight the WWE "censored" the fans.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they turned that angle into something that really ends up happening... :shifty:

I can agree with Vince McMahon being unhappy with commentary, it has been off lately, but seriously, what the Hell is Coachman supposed to do? If John Cena is the "megastar" everyone says he is, he shouldn't need protecting. Ironically it is that protection from management that is turning the internet fans against him slowly, but steadily.
Coach did the right thing by acknowledging the crowd. They are a ciritical part of the show, and when the fans are chanting "Let's Go Angle", the commentary team should address the issue. If Angle is so damn likeable because he's such a great wrestler, ADDRESS IT! They tried to do something about in on RAW, and that may actually work, but Angle is do damn awesome that the more heel heat he has on him, the more face reaction he will eventually get.

This has nothing to do with Coachman, but I think it would be awesome if during Cena and Angle's match at Survivor Series they could pull a double turn like Austin/Hart at Mania 13. Of course it would be as good of a match, but still.
However knowing WWE, someone will get "SCREWED" and it will be the biggest and most injust screw job in the history of the company. Damn you heel. Damn you to hell! :shifty:
