I hadn't even heard of this until today, but knowing how much time you people spend going to wrestling news sites, I'm sure one or more of you has.

So as I understand it, when Rhino pulled that table out on Impact, there was a strong ECW! chant, and "Vince had a cow" and said that since he owned ECW, TNA can't have the fans chant "ECW!", and that's why the chants were censored.

I hadn't even heard of that, but to be honest with you, as fucked up as some of Vince's actions are lately, even if TNA DOES claim that happened, I'm calling bullshit. The way I see it, if TNA or someone claims that that happened, they're doing nothing more than looking for sympathy and trying to get over as the "good guys" in the TNA vs. WWE "war", if you can even call it that yet.

Isn't there a law protecting sporting events and the like from stuff like that? Or is it only when it's live? Because if the ECW chants were heard live on TV, I don't think the WWE could have done anything because they can't control their fans, and quite frankly, neither can TNA or any organization.

It's bullshit that they also edited out the ECW chants from Hardcore Homecoming...

They can't control their fans?

Oh no, I don't think Vince would like to hear that.

Hey, Vince should have thought of that before letting Hurricane show off his trademark-violating GL tat.

There's no real market confusion here, which is what a trademark's for.

WTF is Jeff going to do? He can't possibly bleep out an arena of people chanting a chant he doesn't want, can he?

And WTF is Vince going to do? Sue the fans?

Okay, here's how it goes.

Vince can't sue over a live event, because the fans can't be controlled.

Impact however is taped, meaning TNA has, in theory, plenty of time to edit out the chants that could cause copyright issues. Since it is taped, they actually do have control as to wether it is heard on tv.

Don't get me wrong, it's a bullshit claim, but he does have somewhat of a legal case.

The claim isn't bullshit, and legally he is 100% in the right. Vince owns these things, and has legal right to ensure no one profits from/promotes his property against his will. The problem is its trivial and its lowers the shining character of Vince ( ) and the WWE. It makes them look like they fear TNA. A fact I know isn't true, but it is the impression that they give.

Like I said, I honestly think the whole story is bullshit and designed to make fans even more mad at the WWE than some already are, in some feeble effort to sway fans to the TNA side.

Yeah, I don't have a source. I initially meant to post this in the first post of the thread, but apparently, I didn't: I heard about it from someone while talking to them on messenger.

And from a person like that, I'm SURE it's been posted at a wrestling site or two, and I figured some of you TNA marks would've already been all over it.

You do realise they CAN censor the fans, right?

Howabout no?

Vince isn't 100% in the right, because he owns a trademark. Trademark is designed to prevent market confusion and stop other people from succeeding based upon your name, possibly at your expense. Are you stating that:

1. You believe that the TNA chants are actually what get viewers to watch?

2. TNA is actually identifying themselves as ECW in some way by their fans chanting it?

3. There is any damage caused by TNA, to the WWE or ECW?

TNA doesn't use the lettermark or identify themselves in any way with ECW. Legally, that's where the limit to the claim ends for the most part. Now I know it's already been stated that this is probably a bullshit story, but I did want to clear the air that Vince is not in the right and this is a waste of a legal issue if anything does come of this.
