View Full Version : Ortiz AND Shamrock sign BACK on to UFC!

You can get this from the offical UFC Website (http://www.ufc.tv).
Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz have signed on to be the couches for Ultimate Fighter 3. For those of you who maybe are new to UFC or don't know...first of all Ken Shamrock and Tito don't like each other at all...night even kind of. They had one fight back at UFC 40 I believe in which Ortiz beat Ken. The real shocking shit here is that Dana White (President) and Tito Ortiz have little to no respect for each other. As you are probably aware Ortiz was the biggest thing UFC had, then he wanted more money, White said no and that he was no more of a draw then the Ultimate Fighter Forest Griffin (who by the way Ortiz is no schedualed to fight). Ortiz told White to fuck off, and then Dana basically wrote Tito out of UFC history and has barley mentioned him since.
Anyway, at the Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale, Shamrock and Ortiz will have their fight, and...as reported on TNAWrestlingNews.com (they report on him since he refs in TNA once and again) if he wins against both Forest and Ken, he has been promised a Light-Heavyweight Title match against whoever is champ at that point (my guess is it will still be Liddell, though Couture has his shot coming up in Liddell/Couture 3).
Did anyone else shit a birck when they heard this? Mainly just becuase of Dana and Tito's history.

My bad...didn't even think to look for it in the wrestling forum...though I guess since Ortiz refs once and again, and Shamrock was a wrestler...whatever...
UFC talk has always been in the sport forum.
I've been crying on about Tito Ortiz returning for ages. It's nothing but good business and now finally Dana White has seen the light.

I said it in the other thread, but this is the sports forum where it belongs
Forrest needs to close up his stance, he is too open and his arms just flail around out there. We also haven't seen Forrest fight a true ground and pounder like Tito since everyone who fights Forrest wants to stand up.
I hope Dana knows what he is doing, since Forrest is a draw, carrying over TUF fans.

Anyone think Tito WON'T win against both Griffin and Shamrock? I hope Kenny pummels him .

If he couldn't do it before and has seen had his arse handed to him but Rich Franklin (a middleweight) and Kazushi Sakuraba (who is totally washed up), he ain't gonna do it to Tito this time.

That result did legit shock me. I haven't seen the fight yet because I've been offline for like a month so a link or something would be nice :)

Sorry, nothing I can do for you there. Diaz didn't even fight badly, he just got beaten, no 2 ways about it.
Yeah I'm hardpressed to believe Griffen could really beat Ortiz, but you never know. He is a very well rounded fighter. He can roll around on the ground pretty damned well, and he can knock you out. Ortiz is a master of taking you down and pounding you, but maybe (JUST MAYBE) Griffin could possibly hang with him enough to get to his feet and knock him out, or even sneak in a submission.
I could see it being a very poor fight, because IMO Ortiz is a pretty boring fighter, and if it goes his way, he's going to be lying on Forrest for 3 rounds.

The more I think about it, the more I think that:
1) We haven't seen Tito fight in a year, if he shows rust OR tries to be a dumbass and stand up ala Tito/Chuck, Forrest can win.
2) Dana White is a fucking genius. If Tito wins, it is Tito's comeback to the title. If Forrest wins, that elevates Forrest into title contention. Student vs. teacher.
Dana White is hardly a genius. The UFC practically books itself and even if it doesn't, Joe Silva is the match maker so he deserves the credit.

Shamrock and Ortiz again?

Just caught this fight. You were spot on too. Diaz fought well, especially on the ground where a lot of people underrate the fighting on your back skills. Sanchez just fought an awesome fight. I'd love to see these two fight again and again though.

Hey Rob, I like UFC but don't really follow, so I'll ask you this one.
I was looking at the current champions.
Hughes is a year older then Franklin and a few years younger then Liddell, yes has like double the fights then either one and it's not like had has a ton of losses so they were all rematches. Does he just like to fight or rarely get injured? how come he has double the fights of the others?
just wondering.
Not too sure to be honest. Depends on how early they got started in actual competitive legal MMA. Some guys do underground stuff which doesn't count (not saying any names because I couldn't say for sure of the top of my head), some guys do other competitive sports like wrestling or kick boxing. Some guys like Jeremy Horn just fight whenever and wherever. In the MMA world today, if you are in the big time, you probably won't have more than 4 or 5 fights a year tops so records will start looking smaller (which a lot already are).
