Source is very unrealiable but apparently in the book he talks about how he was suppose to compete at Wrestlemania 17. Any truth behind that?

He was part of the "oh fuck, we forgot about Hunter!" plan for Mania X7 - they tried to get Hogan, and failed, they wanted Michaels, but it failed, so they settled on Taker. Even after Michaels turned down the match, he was set to play another part in it, but was sent home due to showing up repeatedly in 'no condition to perform'.

Actually, not exactly true.

HHH was being saved all through the build up because they were negociating with Ray Lewis. That fell through so Shawn Michaels was the second choice. However, he pilled himself up or something down those lines, fell asleep backstage at a Smackdown show and Triple-H was actually the guy who went nuts and told him to leave. Plan C was the Taker which is what went down.
