View Full Version : Ricky Hatton unifies the IBF/WBA light welterweight titles
Get in son!
Did anyone else watch him kill Maussa last night?
He looked a little overhyped at the beginning and the cuts didn't help, looked like Maussa just wasn't gonna go down until he got levelled for the KO.
I just hope he eventually gets a shot at Cotto and Floyd Mayweather, they'd be some cracking bouts.
Thoughts on this or any other boxing stuff?

I didn't see this fight but his fight with Tzuyu (sp?) he didn't look like anything special and all he did was hold and fight dirty. However I would still love to see him fight Floyd Mayweather.
What fight were you watching? He took Tszyu to friggin' school. Mayweather needs Hatton now a lot more than Hatton needs him. Mayweather can go on about punching above his weight but guys like Winky Wright and De La Hoya woud mop the floor with him.

All I saw was him throwing himself all over Tszyu. But yeah I guess Tszyu was stupid to let Hatton control the fight like that.
Maywheather will not fight Hatton any time soon. He's been dodging the guy forever. I dont see it changing .
Like it or not, Ricky Hatton is a talented dude, he's gonna be quite a threat.
Mayweather has more to gain by going after Zab Judah now, which is what he's doing.
I'd say if Hatton wants to make his name on the US scene he has to beat Cotto and/or Mayweather, but it looks like he'll take on Arturo Gatti first and with FMJ moving up to Welterweight to go for Judah (another unified champ) its becoming less likely.
Reckon Hatton could contend at a higher weight?

Tsyzu is a terrible, terrible boxer. He looked out his depth throwing random punches and swinging like a drunk in a barfight. It wasn't a great match to watch as Ricky couldn't find his usual stride.
On the other hand, the guy was pissing me off so much I really marked out when Hatton dropped his arse.

Eh. He's nothing special. Neither is Miguel Cotto. They're well known (and Hatton isn't even that known to most casual boxing fans) cause they have the support of "their people" (Cotto is Puerto Rican, and most boxing fans are latino). Cotto hasn't impressed me at all and people are saying he's the next Trinidad. And I'd love to see Hatton try and fight out of England. The special treatment he was getting in the Tsyzu fight wouldn't be there to bail him out of the beating he'd get.
