View Full Version : Dunno why... Trevor Murdoch...

Trevor Murdoch is the first new guy in a long time that I absolutely hate. I don't know what it is, but something about him pisses me off, and quite frankly I'm happy with it. He's the first heel in a while I can hate in a non-mark environment.

Anyone like/hate/don't care about him?

NO, I take it back. He could be the TNA champ.

Vastardikai

He has a personality.

That, and it's been a while since we've had a heel that didn't fall into the following 3 categories:

1. Monster Heel (Big Show, Kane)
2. Cowardly Heel (99.99 % of the Heel roster NOT in group one.)
3. Triple H

Seriously, a Roughneck Heel is something that has become fresh again.

I hate him b/c he's such a blatant Larry the Cable Guy rip off. And I don't even like Larry the Cable Guy.

I am pro-Murdoch. Anti-Cade though.

Why the hell is Murdoch getting pushed above:

Shelton Benjamin.
Chavo Guerrero.
Rob Conway(what happened to his push?)
Gregory Helms.

and a lot of others...

Honestly I love what they are doing with Murdoch. Not overly happy he went over Shelton, but I'm thinking that might eventually lead to a heel turn for Shelton so it could work out in the end.

I really had no opinion of Murdoch when he showed up, but he looks like a old-school heel, and he acts like an old-school heel. I may be just craving nostalgia, but it works for me.

I think it's kind of refreshing that an absolutly average looking person is kicking ass. Remember when not everybody was a fined tuned, perfectly sculpt wrestler? I think it's great. He's a throwback to pre mid90's

I might have missed it, but why is Murdoch a singles wrestler now? Did they break Cade and Murdoch up? And if so, did they give any reason?

A big thing in wrestling is Variety. Having a bunch of guys coming out built the same, look the same, etc etc isn't really good for the business. Hell, look at the X-Division. Outside of Joe, Daniels, and Styles when he comes out, there's a bunch of guys I can't tell apart.

Why not have a fat guy win matches? I see a good solid midcard run for him. I doubt he'll be on top, so why not have a midcard guy whose grandiosely unrefined.

Besides, he's not bad on the stick.

Wrestling fans either hate him or love him due to the following:

Hate - because they realise that he's fugly and scruffy, and can actually wrestle, and they're looking at themselves and knowing they could do better.
Me personally, there's no chance I can do better. I know this.

Love - because they realise that he's fugle and scruffy, and can actually wrestle, and they're looking at themselves and knowing they could do better.

Here's a solution - turn the channel when he comes on and you won't have to deal with his face.

Additionally, in the long-term, if we all do this enough and on a regular basis the WWE might even realise the ratings slump during his segment and kick the fucker off Raw... but in the mean-time, just turn over

I love Trevor. Why? Becuase he's such a throwback to the 80's in a time where every dam guy on the roster has this chizzled body and these model-esque looks. Mordock has a "real world" look to him and that's what the WWE seems to be missing now and days. You take one look a Trevor and you know immediately that he's got to be a heel. Lots of character definition with him. :y:

That's the point man. When I look at the new crop of wrestlers, I ask myself, can these guys cut it as a face and as a heel. Murdoch...is a lower card heel. He's a friggin' joke. Bought as funny as a sack of doorknobs. I find him about as plesent as being beaten by a sack of 'em. Thus why I dislike Murdoch. He's playing a character that hasn't been popular since the 1980s.

I like Trevor Murdoch. He's playing the character perfectly, and I love the way they're not having him and Lance Cade seem "buddy-buddy" all the time. I read a house show report where Lance Cade (who I also like) did some chain-wrestling with Val Venis and shook Venis' hand afterwards. Trevor Murdoch then through one of his trademark fits and abused Cade for shaking Venis' hand.

I don't know why, but I find something very charming about the character. He may not ever headline WrestleMania, but he's decent enough in the ring to warrant and IC Title run or two.

Just for the record, I can see him playing a face easily. Have him come out, kick ass, and take no names. Stone Cold rip-off? Nah, there's something more helpless about the Trevor Murdoch character. For some reason I'd love to see him to be involved in a "beauty and the beast" storyline, where he tries to win over a diva, but they just won't take the bait.

I wouldn't ever have Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch feud. If you decide to stop using them as a tag team, fine, but let them retain some sort of alliance (sort of like Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas). If they ever do play out a storyline where Trevor Murdoch tries to win over the woman of his dreams, Lance Cade in the role of a redneck "Hitch" could be perfect.

My favourite thing about the Cade/Murdoch pairing, right from the start, has been how different their characters are. On one hand they seem to be really close, but on the other their differences seperate them so much. Give both more room to develop. I'd have Cade work a program with Shawn Michaels (his mentor), while Murdoch does his own thing for a while, and eventually have them come together full-time, again.

LOL, this is exactly what I was saying to myself today. I was thinking about this and how they were both "southern" and "rednecks," but Cade was the sweet and charming Cowboy that sweeps women off thier feet and Murdoch is the back woods tough guy, who loves to get into fights.

And that's exactly the kind of thing that makes great tag teams. Too bad they never got a nice push.

Look...kidlet....I don't think I can explain it more clearly. Murdoch stinks...badly. He's nothing but a lower card heel and that's all he should've been. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to push this freak as anything other than a glorified jobber.

Dorkchop
11-29-2005, 09:57 PM
I saw him wrestle at a house show back in the summer. I thougth "total jobber", but no. He had some talent. He reminded me of an old school heel. He played a heel very well. Not a huge ass jerk, but complaining, yelling at the ref, and reacting to the crowd perfectly.

He'll never be a main eventer, but I'd like to see him around for a while.

Indeed I did. You had Mankind, you had the Rock, you had Stone Cold, and you had Triple H.

Mankind: Fat, Out of Shape, rather messed up Bizarre Brawler

the Rock: More of a Wrestler, more of a comedy character personality wise, but was a sharp dresser

Stone Cold: Bar Room Brawler, take no prisoners attitude, Redneck

Triple H: Muscled up monster, Very intense, the most chiseled physical physique of the other three. The most technical of the four as well.

They weren't all the same. They had the serious characters, they had the joke characters. We can't have all cowardly heels and badass faces, though.

Fact is, Murdoch is an old school heel. He doesn't have to bash you wit a chair to get heat. It's the little things they would do during the matches that would get you to hate them. It's called psychology, kids. I'm not saying he's a master at it, but he's better than most of the roster. Remember his match with Flair in England? Remember how he pulled his knee pad down for more effect? Classic heel right there. I loved it.

I'm sorry, that was WCW late '80s-early '90s.

To be honest though, I'll even admit I had a hard time with Edge and Jericho at times.

Also, Owen at that point was working a flat top, and he was even more technical than Trips.

So I'm up to 5. :p
