From the other thread modified...

Posted this on Mondo's board posing as a mark....

Got this response to someone else's post in the thread...

Whoever just said that indy wrestlers don't make any money reallllllly needs to be slap upside the head. Yeah sure I have a day job. But guys like Hero, Castognoli, Amazing Red, Styles Joe and a laundry list of other guys don't have any job but wrestling. I disagree 100% with "indy" wrestling only being a hobby. If you get paid...IT'S A JOB!!! If you make a living of of that pay....IT'S A CAREER.
Note that at least three of those guys are TNA guys. If you're a regular on TNA, you DO have a job (just like I would classify ECW as a "job").

I'm not a wrestler, but I'm sure that all the indy guys here agree that you can't survive being a full time Indy wrestler. Am I right?

Well if i recall Joe was doing perfectly before he even signed to tna. Jimmy Jacobs also stated that he's been able to make a living off of just wrestling.

To my knowledge, wrestling is a lot like baseball. If you're in the minor leagues (or most indy leagues), you're going to just barely scrape by, if even that. You'll get low pay which you could probably support YOURSELF with (and that would still require being frugal), but no way could you say, raise a family or support somone else.

Once you make it to the big leagues (or in this case, something like WWE or TNA to a lesser extent), then you could pull in enough cash to live comfortably and/or support a family.

Well there is also japan. If you're good enough to make it there you can really get paid the big bucks.

If you're a top guy like Low Ki, Joe and Punk before they signed, Cabana, and other top bill guys you can get by. Punk and Joe said in the Straight Shootin Interview that they both get by and get paid handsomely.
