View Full Version : Stupid question, but what was the freaking point?

The JR angle, period?
Now, I know firing him was to get him offscreen. But why even bring up the whole Austin Angle when he was ducking offscreen?
Rumours were flying before Austin ducked out that he didn't know about this in advance, and wasn't happy, etc., but the important thing is there was no way the fans were going to be happy with a Stone Cold loss, and there was no other way for it to really play out. He was fighting for JR, but we know that JR wasn't coming back one way or another, and that just reeks of bad business.
Two things:
1: Austin's still no hero for ducking out. I don't advocate this kind of behaviour, period.
2: I know half of you are thinking "It's the WWE, what did you expect?" But this shit's retarded even by normal WWE standards.
So what was the point? To milk Austin's "return" a couple more weeks in hopes of keeping ratings up? Have the bookers killed their last brain cell? What?

I still don't understand it. Taking JR off TV to do an angle where Austin would wrestle Coach, only it was never intended to bring JR back, so why do it just to job Austin out to an announcer? :wtf:
WWE booking makes my head hurt. :(

What the hell happened to the McMahon's being "back" as a heel force? I was looking forward to that.
Are we supposed to forget Linda turned heel?
I'm just hoping that their original plan wasn't for Austin to have his retirement match with Henry.
Henry does not deserve to drink the same brand of beer as Austin.

Have you noticed the McMahon angle (Steph/Linda in particular) has ended as well? It was clearly going somewhere bigger, the Coach job was the begging of an angle not the whole angle (though we will never know where it was going.) The job would have been insignificant at the end of the angle. Not to mention its not like he was jobbing clean any way. I'm sure Austin knows that its not one match that tells the story; its the payoff. So why be so unprofessional?

Why not? We're cheering Vince, and he has a personality!

I operate under the assumption that the writers literally have zero logic. That way, if anything goes right, I mark out.

It probably would have built to WrestleMania where it all hits the fan. Maybe something similar to the WrestleMania 2000 main event.
Triple H with Stephanie, Cena with Austin, Angle with Bischoff and, just to throw the curve out there, Jericho with Shane.
Either have Cena win it and have Austin give him a rub or give it to Jericho if he comes back full time.
Would have worked. Would have been a clusterfuck, but if they booked it right (hey, it's happened) it could have gotten Cena over huge or built an even bigger star out of Jericho.
Or, if they got him back, replace Jericho with Lesnar and Heyman.

You must mark out a good once or twice a month then. ;)

What's the point of a lot of what they do lately? It's gotten so bad I havn't watched it in months.

The only logical explaination of this that I can see was to punish Austin for no showing events before. And also it kinda helped set up a reintroduction of the McMahons. But yeah, for the most part it seems pretty dumb.

Do you realize the inherent contradiction in this comment? How do you know that it's been pointless lately if you haven't watched in months?

I hasn't been the bad, but it hasn't been all that good either.

I assume it's because the writers think (and I guess they're pretty much right), that anything Austin=ratings. As for Austin losing, well, I guess they just thought it didn't matter.

God forbid that ever happens again, i was SOOO happy not seeing shane or any of the other McMahons outside of vince (sorry Vinnie, its not genetic to be as entertaining as you). There all just too "Annoying" and not the "God i hate these heels" annoyin but the "Get off my TV annoying". Need we forget it was the mchmahon-helmsley era that ushered in this godforsaken version of wwe?
im sorry, i just dont like them outside of vinnie, beacuse like its been said on tv (or simlilar) "your only hear beacuse you got lucky in the gene pool." and maybe if they could act (steph for The EG show almost seemed like a bad acting...and she wasnt) and not be spot fest wres...not be wrestlers i might take them seriously...and as for shane...stop playin WWE video games so much, we know your entrance and its even gayer in person. ill be zippin up now
Well, to be fair, Vince wouldn't be here without being lucky in being the son of the old WWF owner.

You are very right, but was vinces dad makin him part of the show in some sort of way that nobody really cared about? I cant remember if vinnie JR was an announcer when his dad owned the company but even then Vinnie JR was a pretty good announcer, at least to me. Someone once described vince as the equivlent of an evoloved football coach, any coach can tell you to throw a touch down, vinnie on the other hand will go out there and show you how to do it. Now while that hasnt been all to true as of late it shows sometimes...i just wish hed teach his kids how to throw a football (metaphor there for ya)
Shane's not bad, he can actually take a few bumps and has great charisma. Stephanie isn't HORRIBLE. Linda doesn't do anything good. She "cuts" horrible promos and can't sell for shit. (See: Stunner and Tombstone)

Shanes charisma and taking a few bumps? sounds like what nick mondos good for minus the charisma, though u were against spot monkeys? any time shane talks i just think "you cant act, and you dont have to so you wont", hes never seemed natrual to me before, thus no charisma in my eyes. Steph and linda...wont even waste the time to on my keyboard weith them

I meant bumps in the sense of moves and selling and taking something that looks good and adds to a match. (See: KOTR 2001)

Yea he can sell moves i suppose, which is vital in the ring but again, just not impressive to me. His mic skills suck, his cocky persona is not done in the correct way at all, im supposed to hate him i know but as a wrestling fan you know when someones trying a bit to hard. His facial expressions before he gets on the mic show his nervousness as well,a bit TOO well, despite being in the biz for so long. AND NOTHING IS MORE ANNOYIN THEN WHEN THE GM IS A MCHMAHON, its just it kills the show to me.

Didn't you see him at WM17? Or against Angle at KOTR?
Obviously not.
Shane is the best of the McMahons. Can do the face, do the heel, and can pull out a 4 star match in the ring (depending on the opponent). Nervousness on the mic? Please. He's better than a lot of the roster.
If they swerve tonight, I can see a decent match with Cena. Or if they don't, a VERY decent match with Kurt. Would love to see that rematch.
WHICH WAY DID HE GO?

I think you're just being negative for the sake of it.Don't you remember how big Shane was in 2000? Or his match with Kurt Angle in 2001?And why is the GM being a Mcmahon annoying?I'll agree that Stephanie was annoying as fuck on the mic, but Shane is perfect for the role of GM.
