We?ve received a number of emails asking about a rumor circulating about the health of OVW champion Matt Cappotelli. From asking around, unfortunately, we can confirm the story that doctors recently diagnosed Cappotelli with a brain tumor and we wish he and his family the best during this trying time. Cappotelli, who was scheduled to begin shooting WWE vignettes for a planned debut this week, is scheduled to undergo tests in Ohio to further diagnose the tumor and plan treatment. Cappotelli has been one of the top pushed talents over the last several months of OVW?s television product.

Poor guy. It seems like he can't get a break. From getting beat up by Holly, to getting injured in a match with holly, to breaking his leg, and now this.
My thoughts are with him.

In risk of sounding like a heartless bastard, if he makes it through this and steps into the ring with him, it'll be a great storyline. Kurt Angle talks about how he wrestled with a broken neck, and then there's someone to shut him the fuck up.

Best wishes for Matt Capotelli. I'll pray for his health.

Geez, what the hell. This makes at least four times the guy's been about to debut, only to have a progressively worse injury or ailment knock him out.

I wish him the best, and I hope he can fight through this. He'll be in our prayers.

Damn, I pray for the best for Matt. The guy's been looking great in OVW recently. I hope it's nothing career threatening, because this guy's come so close to being brought in so many times, it would be a shame to not see him get there.

Damn, I hate the fact that he's going through it. I'd hate for anyone to have to deal with that stuff, but Matt is such a diamond in the rough, someone with that kind of talent, only to have it squandered by things outside of his control is heartbreaking.

My cousin died of a brain tumour, right on christmas morning in 1999, ruining christmas for my family forever (haven't celebrated since then).

I didn't know who Matt Capotelli was before reading this thread, but my wishes go out to him. I hope he can somehow beat it and come out alive.

I don't think its heartless at all.

Lot of big wrestlers have used their real life trials and tribulations into the wrestling world. Angle, Foley, Eddie, Triple H (To an extent)...Just off the top of my head.

And frankly, if he can overcome this shit and come back to wrestling, people really should know. He will have overcome some SERIOUS odds and if he returns after, that's MASSIVELY respect-worthy.

Poor Matt. The kid has so much potential and has had so many aborted opportunities at the big time, but this setback is worse than any of them.

I hope, like Paul said, that this is just a benign thing, and that with proper rehabilitation, he'll be back in the ring tearing up the Davis Arena in no time.

Just imagine what could have been. If Holly hadn't injured Capp last year, we would never have been subjected to the Jacqueline-as-Cruiserweight-Champion storyline. The entire SmackDown undercard would be a different place.

Anyone else for taking up a collection to kill Bob Holly?

Matt Capotelli is the man, and this news is unbelievably shitty.

I hope he can work through it for his life, first of all, and then his career. Like KK said, if he could use this down the road somewhere, he'd get MAJOR props for it.

Wrestling aside, I hate to see this kind of thing. It's terrible.

Matt Cappotelli waiting for results

Last week at an Ohio Valley Wrestling show, WWE developmental star and Tough Enough III winner Matt Cappotelli was struck with a forearm to the head that knocked him out.

It was originally thought that Cappotelli suffered a concussion. However, after a CAT scan was conducted at a local hospital, Cappotelli learned that he had a brain tumor.

“I don’t really have a whole lot of information solidified right now,” said Cappotelli in a phone conversation. “I have to wait to hear from the doctors.”

Cappotelli spent much of last Friday in a hospital in Louisville, undergoing extensive testing.

“My main concern is making sure I do things right for myself and my family,” said Cappotelli. “That’s really my No. 1 concern.”

Best wishes, Matt.
