View Full Version : Going up on top of the cell

Seeing as WWE has banned the 450 splash and the shooting star press do you think going up on top of the cell in hell in a cell matches has been banned also?
It really seems like WWE has toned it down with the violence and I think this has been a big part of it.
A big spot was pre-determined all over the internet for the orton taker match but it didn't happen.
When Bob entered and the door was open I was sure that the match would make it's way outside but it didn't.
We know that Orton isn't afraid of pain (backlash 2004) so if he didn't take a bump then who will? Not many wrestlers would do what he did against Foley.
Therefore in my opinion Vince has prevented wrestlers from taking their match outside of the cell.

Yeah, damn Vince for wanting to not (intentionally) kill his workers.

More in some kind of nearly-landed-on-his-head-and-broken-his-neck way.

The hell in the cell nearly killed Foley, WWE wants to make sure it doesn't happen again.

My view is that Foley nearly killed Foley. He didn't have to risk his life by throwing himself off the Cell (I even believe such a decision is very selfish as he would be leaving his family behind). Foley's first book revealed that the Undertaker was against the idea from the very start
And yes, you could argue that the pressures of the industry meant that Foley had to resort to such measures to save/resurrect his flailing career. In this case I would've said that Foley needed a better way to re-invent himself. Stunts like this meant Foley had to retire relatively early in his career and has missed numerous big pays days since as a result.

Right, thats why since, both Foley and Rikishi have both either fallen off or through the cage again.
Truth is Taker isn't getting any younger, at Armageddon he looked almost scared to walk on top of the cage.
As for the others, some of these clowns can't even pull off a move inside the ring and you want them on the top with lots of innocent (and who can sue your ass) people around?
It's down to ability my friend, the last two I can remember fighting on top of the cage were Trips and Jericho? I may be wrong.

LOL no way can you compare Rikishi's bump to Foley's.
If you remember, Rikishi manage to land on a truck full of soft saw dust, where as Foley hit a wooden table, on his side, and whacked his balls on the guard rail.
You could see Rikishi's bump a mile away.

Foley and Kishi are the only realistic ones as they wouldn't break the roof when they got up there.

No way am I comparing the two. My point was simply saying that since Foley's original bump, there have been further ones.

Go on WWE.com, superstars, smackdown, then click on Undertaker and you'll see Hell in a Cell Videos, it's there.

Rikishi's bump could've been worse than foley's. He could've hit the cab of the truck

That would have been a much better bump. Kishi wasn't really thrown from the cell, he was gently released from the safe grip of Taker and basically guided down into the truck bed.

I honestly expected a big bump from Orton. Anyone remember Backlash 04?
I'd say Orton and Taker discussed it and Taker talked him out of it.

Yeah, because the wrestling environment is so safe now that they've decided not to go up top in a HIAC match.

Stunts like this meant Foley had to retire relatively early in his career and has missed numerous big pays days since as a result. The reason he ended early is because of his knee. Not the bumps

Kanyon also fell off a cell and I think bishoff or Russo might have too.

The bumps he took throughout his career like that from the cell ended his career. In fact, it was one of his dives onto the announce table that excabated the condition of his knee and ended his career.
