OK, so I got these new DVDs from the states, right. And when I attempt to play them on my home DVD player, I get 'region code error', because my DVD player is set to whatever region Australia is, and the DVDs are set to the US region.

So I play them on my laptop which was bought in the States, so I have no problems playing them on that. Problem is, I sorta wanna be able to watch them on the big DVD player, and also lend them to my mates when I'm done, who don't have the benefit of my yank laptop.

So I put them in my home computer, and it asks to change the region of the DVD drive, not the actual disk. Is there a way of changing the code on the actual disk, or only the player?

I'm pretty sure that once the discs are burnt, you can't change the region code on them. I've never tried it, so I'm not 100% certain if it can be done, but I'm pretty sure that you can't change the disc, and only change the region on the player.

If you have a DVD burner, you can burn them to a DVD-R and take the region code off.

like DM said, if you copy it using dvd shrink you can remove the region coding. failing that, buy a region free dvd player

check if your dvd player has a region free hack, or code. it will save you a lot of time.
