World Wrestling Entertainment has signed the 7"3' (although often billed larger) Dalip "Giant" Singh. Singh, a native of India, originally trained with the All Pro Wrestling school in California and wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling, often teaming with former WWF Oddity member Giant Silva.
Earlier this year, Singh had an entertaining turn in the Adam Sandler remake of "The Longest Yard" playing a gigantic inmate named Turley who played for Sandler's penal football team. The film also featured Bill Goldberg, Bob Sapp, Kevin Nash, and Steve Austin. Singh was memorable enough that Sandler used him in several promotional appearances to publicize the film, including an appearance with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show. While training at the All Pro Wrestling school in May 2001, Singh was linked to the death of 24 year-old wrestling student Brian Ong. According to a January 2004 East Bay Express article, Ong (who had previously suffered a concussion but yet continued training) was powerbombed by Singh. Ong took the bump wrong, landing on his tailbone with his head hitting the mat backwards due to the whiplash effect of the bump. The trainers didn't realize how badly Ong, who told them he was dizzy, was hurt until he got on all fours, vomited, and collapsed. They called 911. Ong passed away while being transported to the hospital via ambulance. The official cause of death was acute and subdural hemorrhage due to head trauma. Ong's family sued APW for his death, receiving a $1.34 million ruling against the school and its owner, Roland Alexander. Singh did not testify during the trial and was not implicated legally in Ong's passing. For more on that case, click here (http://www.pwinsider.com/elite/ViewArticle.asp?id=11602&p=1).

Good to see they at least look for talent in their big men.
Isn't that right Nathan Jones?
Anyone got a picture of him?
BTW the incident doesn't really sound like it was his fault so who knows if he will be any good.

Sounds like it was Ong's fault.

He's HUGE.
Wasn't this the incident that was talked about quite a lot last year. From what I remember, it sounded like it was the trainer's fault. Ong said that he had a headache but the trainer told him to keep going.

It would be cool if he was Triple H's bodyguard. You know... how the Big Show was telling HHH that he had noone etc etc. Calling Big Show a freak and it would work out since Singh doesnt speak English so it can be like he is being used by Triple H.
Would be interesting.

This could either be very good, or a Mark Henry-esque signing. I like the idea of putting him on SmackDown!. You know, to give the show some attention. Plus he can squash cruisers and get over huge.
LOL, Nunzio adopting Singh into his new stable would be awesome to see. For some reason I can see him being stuck with JBL or Paul Heyman, though.

Nathan Jones wasn't that bad, just a bit too green.
He was terrible man. So uncoordinated.
And no, Giant Singh isn't a good wrestler.

So basically he'd be just like everyone in the locker room then?
That does sounds pretty nifty though. Too bad it would end up with him being burried though.

Plus for the 6% of WWE viewers who don't have the memory of a goldfish it would seem too similar to the Eugene storyline. But for that other 97% HAWT DAMN!

Thought that was Giant Silva from the Oddities. Apparently this is Giant SINGH.
I'd like to see him in a ring to see how tall he is. HAHA

The guy's definitely cut though. A very impressive specimen, as JR might say.
I think simply due to his sheer size and the fact that he looks pretty not fat would make most people marks. I'd prolly mark out. And most wrestling fans would be amazed at his size in real life (like, I can imagine at a WWE show, people just going   when they see him).
Anyway, hopefully, he's a decent worker.

i searched and found nothing on Brian Ong. Give me a website to go on plz. And i have no idea what you guys are talking about. Hes so fugly!! besides he's going to die soon. no offense to him, but acromegaly, the disease he has which makes him grow throughout his entire life, is extremely wearing on the bones and joints that hold up his enourmous frame. Let's think of some famous people with acromegaly. Robert Wadlow, the tallest man ever who was 8'11", died at the age of 22 from acromegaly. Andre the Giant, which most of you know was a wrestler and actor who appeared in "The Princess Bride", was 7'4" and weighed 500lbs. Dalip Singh is 7'5" and weighs around 400 pounds. So he doesn't have a very strong chance of living past 36. I'm not dissing anyone, so don't get pissed at me.

Inexplicably, ottawa_to_iws writes:

------------------------------------------------
Oh, for Cripes' sake. He's not a murderer, because the term "murder" implies intent to kill.
From http://sports.tbo.com/sports/MGBPGS7G5BE.html:
"A jury found that Pacific Coast Sports acted recklessly in its coaching of Brian Ong, 24. The student had already suffered a concussion before he suffered a fatal blow in 2004 from a "powerbomb" maneuver by a wrestler known as Giant Singh. Ong died while being taken to a hospital by ambulance."
There's a reason the school, and not Singh, was found liable. Singh didn't intend for Ong to be killed, and had no way of knowing the guy was already suffering a concussion.
It's insensitive and crummy to call the guy a murderer but, hey, this is IMDB, so I don't know why I expect anything that even vaguely approximates rationality.

UPDATED Sun Dec 4 2005 09:55:43
thomasskull666 are you stupid, robert wadlow had the disease but he didnt die from that, he got an infection in one of his ankles, and it went untreated until it was too late, as for andre the giant, he too had it, but he as very obiese, which also did a number on his body, and he never got the surgery, or it wasnt available to remove the pituary gland, singh however is extremely fit, and he doesnt drink or smoke, ok. Oh and by the singh is like 33 or so, and i doubt he will die within 2 or 3 years, big show had the surgery done, and my guess is so did dalip. get your facts straight.

I agree that I don't think he'll die anytime soon but hopefully he has had the surgery because Andre is a bit of a poor example because though he got heavy later in life his 46 years is one of the higher recorded life spans with the disease. Also Robert Wadlow only got those constant foot blisters because of his acromegaly, so pretty much yeah it did cause his death. Acromegaly itself doesn't kill its what it causes in a person and one of the side affects for Wadlow were the foot blisters. Today these guys have better shot to live longer, but as you can see below its not pretty...
Doctor's Guide
November 21, 2003
NEW YORK, NY -- November 21, 2003
acromegaly, a serious, life-shortening disease.
Acromegaly is triggered by over-secretion of growth hormone, most often caused by a pituitary tumour. This excess of growth hormone leads to overproduction of a second hormone, insulin-like growth factor-l (IGF-I). Patients with excess IGF-1 experience debilitating symptoms, including headaches, excessive sweating, soft-tissue swelling, joint disorders and, perhaps most striking, a progressive coarsening of facial features and enlargement of the hands, feet and jaw. Long-term problems associated with acromegaly include heart and respiratory diseases, diabetes mellitus and some forms of cancer, contributing to a shortened life span for the patient.
Robert Wadlow - While on a trip to Manistee, Michigan in July of 1940 Robert came down with a fatal infection from one of the many blisters that would form on his large feet. He was confined to a hospital in Michigan and underwent emergency surgery and blood transfusions. The infection lingered and on July 15, 1940 Robert passed away in his sleep. At the time of his death Robert was 8 feet 11 inches tall.

I would like to repeat, that i was not trying to be mean or anything like that. But i will say that Robert Wadlow did die from an ankle infection. But why do you think this would happen to him? I would think that acromegaly was the cause, because not very many people get ankle infections, don't you think? I'm not flaming anyone here, I am just simply stating my opinion. But you are right that Dalip Singh is in very good shape and that could be a contributing factor to his good health. He is lucky that we have the technology now to remove the pituitary gland and reduce the impact of the disease. But as for Andre the Giant, the reason he was obese is because with his extremely large body, he needed to eat more than normal to accomodate for his size and energy exersion. So H Town Ryder, i will have to disagree and say that i think i have my facts quite straight. But you are of course entitled to your opinion.</he's>
