View Full Version : I don't really care for technical wrestling at all

The reason why I started watching wrestling was for the gimmicks, the drama, the soap opera, the action, the spectacle, the theatrics etc

I started watching because of The Rock cockyness on the mic and being able to deliver every single week with a kick ass promo, Stone Cold for getting down to the nitty gritty by giving someone a stunner, the reaction of some poor jabroni getting the Stinkface, Ric Flair WOOOOOing, DX running this shit, the backstage skits, the puppies, all that cool shit.

I could careless for technical wrestling and all that. That's fine and all and I respect it, but only the minority is interested in that. And look what we have now.

Cena, although people complain that he has a terrible moveset...who gives a fuck?! Look at Hogan! He's shit when it comes to wrestling, but what matters most is what he does with what he has!

Techincal wrestling is highly overrated and nobody except the Star Trek minority of wrestling fans only vare about that shit.

I love technical wrestling, I just wished that the Internet community could realize it isn't the only kind of 'good wrestling.'

Enjay, you must be one of those TNA trollls who chant for Fallen Angel every fucking week. Actually, I think you are that Jeff Hardy fangirl sitting front row

Like seriously, who in their right normal mind would think AJ Styles flip flopping with no psychology is actually cool? Slow the fuck down cheif. AJ Styles looks mad gay when he wrestles and he needs to tone it down or else join the circus. Looks aboslutely ridiculous

I'm a Treky, so that probably says a lot about my views :D

However, the difference between Cena and Hogan is that at that time we didn't know anything else. But now we have seen that technical wrestling had a huge place in this industry and some of these guys are also entertaining.

I agree, the entertainment factor is more important than wrestling quality, but we would still like to see a decent match now and again.

AJ doesn't do technical wrestling, he does a garbage version of high flying/spotfest wrestling.

techn ical wrestling is not cool. I have firends who watch flip through that shiot and think, man that's gay. Why is his he humping him? The homoeroticism is not intended but it makes the product awkawrd

Look at Austin. Wrestling was cool back then because he was a fucking brawler. The Rock was cool because he ripped his opponent on the mic and had a fast tempo on the ring without all the armlocks and pauses that you see now

Wrestling should stop trying to be like MMA reality shit, and do what they do best and what got them to the top in the first place and that's base their product on strong cartoon like characters who brawl in the ring

List of brawlers who knew how to do it:

Austin
Triple H
The Rock
Undertaker

just look at 97. You had the technical renessance of wrestling with Bret Hart and Shawn Michales, of course the nerds loved it, but the cool population loved the nWo and all the theatrics in WCW.

And once the nWO got boring, they swithced over to the WWF because of Austin vs. MacMahon. And once that got old, The Rock did his thing on the mic. Where was techncal wrestling in 2000? Sure it was in the midcard, but it never ran the fucking show.

WWE is trying to hard to be a "sport" where they should be focusing on what got them to the top in the first place which is theatrics and the spectacle of sports entertainment.

I appreciate technical wrestling, but I do like the entertaining match now and again. Say what you want about them, but Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels is good shit, no matter who you are, the cruiserweight style holds my interest much more than Cena hitting a retarded shoulder block.

Cena's got heaps of talent, but his "brawling" looks shit as, and I would much rather see him try and use some kind of psychology in his matches. The thing about The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H is this, though: They could all wrestle. Even if they weren't technical masterminds (The Rock), they were at least able to make stuff look effective.

I would much rather see them focus on the sport than the entertainment, as the entertainment rarely works in the WWE these days. If they get guys who can do it all, though (Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Chris Jericho, Booker T & Chris Benoit) it could all really be good. Unfortuantely we get Cena hitting the F-U on anyone more deserving of being the top guy than he is (Cena's good, but not good enough to carry the company).

I like seeing good matches at mania......but then again it doesn't need to be technical to be good.

Calm down, WWE soldier.

AJ Styles actually does insert quite a bit of psychology into his matches; as do many of the X-Division wrestlers. If you actually sit down and watch one of his good matches (not one of his 5-minute deals on Impact), you will see that he combines good psychology, crisp mat wrestling, high flying, high impact, and extremely fast-paced styles all into one.

Comparing the WWE-style to the TNA-style, I'd take the TNA style any day. WWE wrestling is BORING (save a few).

Rock, Jericho, Angle and Eddie are my all time favs. not because of their in ring work but because they can entertain like no other

Is it just a coincidence then that at least 2 (one could even argue 3) of those 4 guys are among the best wrestlers of our generation? (Early 90's and onward)

Yes it is a coincidence like you said.

What makes Kurt Angle an all time great is his personality and work on the microphone. No offence to Chris Benoit, but if Kurt had Benoit's personality he probably wouldn't be headlining Wrestlemanias and winning World Titles.

I also loved Mohammed Hassan when he was with the company. If he didn't get "UPN'd" he'd probably become an all time great

samichna

Fair enough.

Definitely agree on Kurt already being an all-time great, though.

Technical wrestling can be boring if done by the wrong people. In a high profile match though, technical wrestling adds kind of a chess match like feel to the match. My favorites really all involve Angle and and Michaels though.

Uhhh...

What WWE have you been watching?

"Live Sex", "Batista Gets Sued", and "Randy Orton Vs. The Undertaker LXXXVIII" doesn't look like any sport I've ever seen.
