Recently got Season 4 on dvd so I really need to watch it soon before it comes out over here in the UK.

Almost finished watching Smallville season 4 so I will hopefully start it soon.

I heard (spoilers in black)

Tony dies in the first episode

I didn't believe it at first, but the ads kinda make it seem that way.

Can't wait. As for what I think will happen, I imagine there will be some catastrophic event that ties into a mysterious incident in Jack's past, and he'll be the only one able to save the world, but only by going outside of his authority and getting on the bad side of the CTU boss du jour (Sean Astin).

I'm envisioning a scene where Jack pulls a gun on someone and yells. Not sure how that'll fit in, though.

:D

Seriously, though, I can't wait. "24" is one of the top five or so shows on TV. The writing, direction, and acting has been top-notch for four years, and this one looks to be excellent, as well.

See but this is what makes 24 "24". You have dipshit people interfering with a God.

I mean I swear, Bauer is better than Bond. I mean they are similair in so many ways

They both have the License to kill mentality.
They both have initials JB.
Both first names begin with JA.

Think about that one for awhile

I dont know what happend in the last seasons, but any chance Elisha Cuthbert makes an appearence once she finds out he is actually alive? Or is she dead? I have no clue. I just know what i know from the first season.

When Palmer got shot i was like " Damn killing the black man off already " then remember i missed like 4 seasons.

So here's the thing.

The way Fox ran the ad's, the way they ran the promo's was in my opinion, awesome. 24 returned to it's form that has made it a signature for TV shows. I thought last season was a little off, don't get me wrong, it was good, but it wasn't great. Last night and Sunday night restored my faith in 24. You still have so many unanswered questions after last night.

Tony- Is he dead, is he still in surgery? I loved how there was no mention to him whatsoever about his health. It really leaves you wondering.

The Mole which is one of Logan's aide's- I knew going into the season that they would have another mole. I mean it was a given, they've done it for all 4 of the seasons so far, why stop now. But the way that it was done, and who it is, truly shocked me. I would have never have thought it was the President's aide. Never.

Audrey Raines- It's obvious that when Jack returns to CTU, she will not show the hatred for him the last time we saw these 2 together. She will be more calmer, but the way they are going to lead it up, it will make it seem like they want her and Jack back together. As long as I get to see more of her though, I'm happy.

CTU in general- The guy that was introduced yesterday (The guy from either DoD or Division) that realized Jack was using old protocol. What truly is this guy's role here. And with him going over Buchanan, what does that mean for Billie Boy.

Martha and President Logan- President Logan, although seemingly trying to get things done, is still going to cower down when it comes to him being the strongest at the worst time. When I saw they were going to play another role of a first lady, I was a little worried. But the way the story is going from her perspective is just awesome. I kinda figured that they had changed the voice recording, but still.

The Nerve Gas- Now I have not done a whole lot of research on it, but obviously it's very deadly. If anyone can add something about this, it would be appreciated.

Jack Bauer- The biggest thing is is that Fox signed on 24 for 2 more years. So this is the first year. But the biggest thing is "Can they really keep Jack alive for one more season". When they killed off Dennis Haysbert and Reiko :(, part of me actually smiled, cause I thought to myself, this could be the last year for 24. Whereas that might make me sad, I want it to end on a good note. And when I say good note, I mean ratings, because let's face it, when they terminate the production of 24, Jack Bauer will have to die as well. But about Jack, Keifer's calmness and his attitude when he's on one of his tirade's is what makes his character Jack. I really can't wait to see where they are going with everything now.

Comments from you guys?

Ok, are they expecting us to believe that the presidential staff people are so thorough that they even take manual logs of the the recorded phone conversations, but they don't have a single freakin security camera to show what happened to the first lady? C'mon now! Also, if the prez and company are just visiting LA, why is there entire archive there?

This season is still interesting, but the President/First Lady storyline is really pissing me off. It's not quite as annoying as Sherry and Wayne in Season 3, but if it goes on like this it might get there.

Also, I don't have a problem with El Hobbit running things so far. It's kinda hard to take him seriously in the role, but the character isn't really a pain in the ass yet.

01-25-2006, 01:33 AM
I'm used to ignoring the impossible things dealing with timeframes, technology, etc, but if they've proved one thing over the years, its that somebody is always watching everything. The not having a camera in the first lady's room thing just bugs me. Especially since they made it a point to show how anal the administration was when it comes to those sorts of things.

I'll drop it though, 24 is still my favorite show :)

Another thing about 24, is that something early in the season may not pay off right away.

Yeah but still 24 was the goods last night. I didn't think Cummings would really tell the President what was going on. AareDub

I'm not whining, I just feel a little let down by this season so far. Season 4 was probably the best season of the entire series, it had so much going on that I didn't mind when they fudged a few details. Season 5 hasn't done that for me yet. Most of the characters I like aren't being used (or were killed) so it's easier for me to get distracted and start picking things apart. I guess I can keep my complaints to myself though :p

Boondock Saint
02-01-2006, 12:04 AM
I'd say season 2 was the strongest season, with the exception of the mountain lion. 1 had the amnesia. 3 just seemed disjointed at points and 4 was good but so many plotholes that were just too hard to overlook.

But hey, 24 kicks all amounts of ass.

Boondock Saint
02-01-2006, 12:19 AM
Yeah this season has been going at a rapid pace. The moles have been found out already (that we know of), which would have taken a few more eps in the past seasons. I was surprised Cummings admitted his involvement to the President so early.

Something big is prolly gonna happen towards the halfway point, per usual. The nerve gas is only the beginning. The whole Chinese after Jack thing is supposed to be big this season as well. Cuz if they drop that, well, that'd just be dumb.

Pinnacle Charisma
02-01-2006, 06:25 AM
24 usually has about 3 or 4 really good episodes at the start. Then it slows down after that untill it comes to the now yearly mid season "cliffhanger" then slows down again untill the last 4 or 5 episodes.

But this season was always going to be good. The last episode of season 4 was prob the best 24 cliffhanger episode ever and did such a great job in setting up the next series. The last 15 minutes of that episode had me "marking out" non stop.

I also think that they shouldnt have killed off Michelle not only because she has been the hottest 24 girl ever (yes even hotter than kim) but it would have been awesome if Tony (dont get me wrong Tony is my fav 24 character ever )got killed or kidnapped and we see Michelle acting without Tony for a long peroid of time.

And just a sidenot am I the only one who would think Jack would have made a great character on Lost

But why would she do that? Thats the part that doesn't make sense. There is no reason why she would betray her country and I don't see a reason why she would want to see screw Jack over other than killing her husband in Season 4 but it looked like she cared more when Jack "died" at the end of the season compared to her husband.

It dosnt make sense for the writers to kill off Tony when they have so much material for him regarding Michelle's death etc. But I will cry like a little girl in he does pass away

I just want to say this:

If they kill (highlight)Tony is one of the worst things the producers could do. s/he has got a huge fan base, and killing them off would not only affect the show, but it's ratings as well. The show needs to keep some veterans, how often can you say out of the people you worked with three years ago, you're the only one still alive.

I know the producers like to say they can kill off whoever they like, but eventually this will affect the show. I've heared rumors that the ratings went down once Palmer and Michelle were killed....just rumors though.

McDoogle
03-10-2006, 10:27 AM
I don't think it matters that much though because this is the last season anyways. So even if they kill off all the main characters it wont make a difference unless they make a movie.

To clear up some rumors....

the person that is rumored to die this week is not Tony, but it is in fact Lynn Mcgill. IMDB confirms this as they have him listed as working the next 4 hours of the show and this is Lynn's last episode. So don't expect Tony to die.

Also, when it comes to the seasons, it was heavily rumored that even though Fox signed it for 2 more seasons, they would pull another one over us and end the series this season. This is not the case as there is Season 6 to go, and now the heavily rumored movie is going to take place, they just dont know when it's going to happen.

Speaking of Tony, just found a funny story.

Apparently Carlos Bernard and Mia Kershner (Tony and Mandy) felt like playing a prank on the producers last year.

MT: Any one prank stand out as being a really good one?

CB: We were shooting up in Valencia I think, somewhere north of LA, and I got to work with the actress who plays Mandy (Mia Kirshner). She comes up to me in the morning and says “ I feel mischievous today”, and I say,
“Really?” and she says,
“Yeah,”
“Ok, do you want to play a practical joke on someone?” I ask her, and she says yes.

So I call the police over who are blocking off the street for us and I ask them if they would be willing to play a practical joke on our director, and they say “Yeah, Sure”. I tell them that right around 3:45 p.m., I want them to come up on set where we are shooting by this garage and arrest her for buying drugs in the parking lot. So when they arrest her, I am going to start arguing and I want them to arrest me, too. Well, the whole day was basically scenes between she and I so basically production is screwed if we get arrested. I mean that would cost thousands and thousands of dollars! So, anyhow, right on cue at 3:45, he walks in with his partner goes up to her after the cameras are cut and pulls her aside and says, “Can I talk to you ma’am?”

“Yeah.”

“Our undercover officer told us that you bought some marijuana from him?”

And he starts cuffing her saying “I need to place you under arrest”. Suddenly everybody is like what is going on here. Nobody knew except for myself her, and I told Kiefer because he was in the scene as well. Now all of a sudden John Cassar comes flying over and is like “uh, uh, uh….”

Right before this happened, three producers showed up on set and they are never there. They never come, and it was just perfect, they show up and they don’t know anything about it. They start talking to the cops. And I come over there shoulder and say “What’s going on?”

The officer says, “This lady had admitted to buying marijuana in the parking lot, and we are placing her under arrest.”

And I go “For that? She got arrested for that? This is all you have got to do with your time is arrest little girls for buying marijuana in the parking lot?”

They say “Sir you better step back right now, and the producers start pushing me back, “let us handle this.”

I say “F**k this, you’re screwed, you are going to tell me that you are arresting this girl for buying pot and this is where our tax dollars are going?”

“Sir you better step back right now or I am going to place you under arrest.”

I’m like, “Screw you! You’re an asshole!” (laughs) And we started shouting back and forth, and five guys are pulling me back. Including Cassar, and the place in like, nobody knows what the hell is going on, one producer is on the phone calling back to the studio like “uh we have big problems.” And then finally I tied to pull a camera out and take a picture of John Cassar. And he saw the camera and was like “You, you a**hole” (laughs).

Anyhow, it was really great because after that everybody was in a great mood and joking around. The cops had done such a great job, everybody was like giving them t-shirts and hats, and they were sort of like baptizing them into the group. It was a lot of fun.

I found this post on the IMDB boards (give me a break, I'm bored). Anyway it starts off bitchy, but I was rofl by the end of it. Oh, and something he didn't mention, "I programmed the memory card to self destruct!." WTF? Y'know, that hidden line of code you can put on a memory card that makes flames come out!

Okay, is it me, or did things really go from "Okay, this is plausible" to "Naw, we don't care what happens anymore"?

First off, Tony dies. We see him in the last seconds last week blanking out, opening seconds this week, they are already covering the body, Jack is recovered from his grief, things are "honky-dory" again. And this is after Tony got injected with whatever was in that interrogator's kit. Which, you got to wonder, what exactly would that guy have that could kill you so quickly, even if in a weakened state?

Also, you can release names of people who died if it is in-house. The govt does not release names of people killed in action to the public till after next of kin have been notified. Telling over people in the govt, for the purpose of filling skill-sets, is alright.

Homeland Security comes strolling in and there is immediate "drama" because they are making waves and going to basically take over. And then they totally set things up for "I'm the boss, what do you mean Jack Bauer is not doing what I say?" moments.

Chloe just kicks things off with her 'tude and then for WHATEVER reason, has to give up her access card. If this guy is so high level, why does he need CHLOE'S card??? What the hell did he put the card in, anyways? Nice touch with the whole "Hey, I'll use Edgar's desk, he won't be needing it anymore."

The VP is pushing to have martial law declared. FINALLY, someone in the administration realizes "Hey, the terrorists are sneaking around LA. Maybe we should stop people from sneaking around. That might help." And of course, who has a problem with it? Martha Logan. What position was she elected to? Oh, that's right, SHE WASN'T! And then Faux-Nixon immediately takes an affront when people question the legality of his executive order. No s### sherlock, remember how you guys discussed this in the previous two hours? Why is it such a surprise that people would say this?

Palmer's brother (out of the blue) calls up the secret service guy, who is still on the job even with a massive next wound. (Man that guy kicks ass.) And for whatever reason, brother's got his personal number. And by the way, don't worry, the cops are not going to pull over a black man driving a fancy car. That would never happen in Los Angeles.

Jack and company find the Bavarian beauty's room. (She's 5'9", I would so break me off a piece of that.) No one is home, the window is open... she must have gone to the roof! Yeah, we totally snuck in, no reason to suspect. So get up to the roof, poke around, and for some reason this guy jumps off a roof to take down Curtis. WTF? Why? How is it people just happen to be so ready to lay in ambush for people all over the place this season, you know? It's like, if you are going to ambush someone, and you are doing it alone, you will succeed. But if you have a group of people, you will fail. Oh yeah, Desmond (for you Lost fans) is a German agent. WTF?!

So, Jack has to deal with someone, negotiate, come to an agreement. Yeah, let's see, how do these normally go with Jack? He either starts breaking fingers and shooting legs, or does something totally ridiculous. Which route are we going... the wet list? Wow, just pull that one out of the ass of Mission Impossible, huh?

Chloe displays her super agent moves by spilling a guy's coffee on his lap. Hacks into NSA in a minute. Jack asks, "What is taking so long?!" Chloe: "They added a new layer of security.... DONE!" No wonder terrorists can sneak around the U.S. so easily, even our own agencies have piss poor security. In fact, it is fairly obvious that in the 24 universe, the U.S. is not the paramount society, it is the limp noodle of podunk countries.

Desmond and Jack are laying in wait and... *RING*, hold on, got a call. Desmond: "Make it a speaker phone call!" Jack: "Ah... why would you ask me to do that?" Desmond: "I don't know. I just felt like saying that. I kind of want to, you know, listen in. You do say you talk to the president a lot." Jack: "Ok. Unusual request, but alright." Jack to CTU: "What's that? You want me to screw over Desmond? Sure." CTU: "Yeah, we can't stress enough this wet list which we know the Germans, because we all know Germans are stupid, stupid people, won't know what to do with it and totally screw things up."

Stengor arrives, gets nabbed, Desmond drives off, pops in the memory drive, calls up Heinrich Himmler, and- so sorry, Mr. Phelps, your tape has self-destructed in five seconds, not thirty. (Another MI reference!) Jack phones up: "(Nelson/) Ha ha! (/Nelson)"

Brother Palmer is on his way on the only road to the presidential compound, hurrying along, and... who the hell are these guys? How the hell did they manage to catch up to and pass a van full of people against a lone guy in a car? Got to love this presidential security....

Stengor: "I know I am a hot piece of *beep* ass, but how about you let me walk away and I'll give you what you want?" Jack: "Oh, would I, would I?" CTU: "Jack, we can't let her wa-" Jack: "So, here are the keys to your car, your identification back, a gun, my phone number, keys to my house, my PIN number, a map to the place where I buried a bunch of money and some guns, and-" CTU: "Damnit Jack! Why is you always go seasaw on terrorists? Either you are killing them without a second thought or letting them roam free!" Jack: "Hey! She said she would give me a wienerschznitl. That sounds kinky." CTU: "That is a food item, Jack!" Jack: "Oh.... Hey!" Stengor: "What? I told you. I handle tons of secret information, I have world wide contacts, and I am a hot piece of Hun hubba-hubba. But like I said, I do not know what I gave the terrorists. What more do you want?" Jack: "Ah... who gave you the info?" Stengor: "Oh, some skinny chick named Audrey Raines?"

Audience at home: "WTF?!"
Jack Bauer: "WTF?!"
Audrey Raines: "WTF?!"
Keifer Sutherland to the writers: "WTF?! Are you serious? AUDREY?! She's working with the terrorists now? She is where they have to follow the trail to next?"
Writers: *toking up* "Yeah man. It'll be great. Cuz then we see Jack conflicted about how to deal with Audrey, and whether to interrogate her or maybe try something-"
Keifer: "You guys have completely lost your minds, you know that? I wondered why Carlos Bernard wanted to quit since everyone loves his Tony character, but now I get it, you guys are totally going off the deep end with story ideas now. Do you realize how LITTLE sense the past few episodes made?"
Writers: "We killed Edgar, it's dramatic, people will be like 'Oh no, he and Chloe had this thing and never got it on."
Keifer: "People like Edgar! The whole country went ape-s### over his death, you nimrods."
Writers: "So bringing Palmer back from the dead is out of the question?"

Also if the president is on it, wtf was up with Walt Cummings? Sure he could have been in on it without knowing that Logan was the "mastermind", since I'm sure the President would want to keep that info extremely limited. However I'm pretty sure I remember a scene with Logan screaming at Cummings after he finds out that he dealt with the gas. It just makes it kinda obvious this twist wasn't planned from the start and that the writers have got some real good explaining to do.

So they knew where to plant the gas cannisters and see how the gas lines run, etc. I doubt they could just have placed them anywhere in the building.

Hard to believe a US president would ever be behind this, but its just a tv show and it makes for good tv.

Too many seasons if you ask me.

Producers don't know when to end a good thing.

Some may not agree with me but I felt Season 4 was a pretty good way to end the show. Jack was on the run, Tony and Michelle were happily ever after.

But producers care more about money than a show's rep. i guess.

Season 5 has been good, but it should end soon.

If you love the show enough, 10 years from now you'll dust off the DVD sets, watch it and think, "God, I wish 24 was on FOREVER. :wavesad:"

Sometimes I get tired of shows I love, but then I stop watching for a while... catch reruns in syndication and think, "GOD I love this show. I'm glad they kept going even though I in my infinite wisdom told them to call it quits!"

I remember hearing that when they do the movie, they're hoping to do the first hour like a regular movie, and the second hour in realtime.

Making a movie out of a show like 24 seems like a bad idea. Any show where a problem is introduced and resolved in the same episode could make a successful movie. They can use the 2hrs of the movie to tell a longer story than they'd normally get to in the 30 mins/1hr they usually have. In 24 there is usually one big problem that lasts all season. Sure, it's broken down in to smaller problems throughout, but they all tie into the master scheme of things. I can't imagine the movie having some huge epic plot and only lasting 2 hrs. It seems like a step backwards. Making a movie out of 24 is like making a tv series out of Star Wars....

I remember when the first season finished some critics where saying it might be a bit insulting for viewers to accept that Jack was involved in not only 1 hectic day but now two. Well its going to be 8 days. LOL

I was thinking of what they could possibly do for another 3 seasons and my brain was pretty racked for ideas. They seem to have done almost everything and getting unrealistic for Jack to somehow keep being involved in the loop. I think if the writers knew this wasnt going to be the last season they would have killed off Palmer , Tony and Michelle because I would have liked to see a season where Jack didnt appear untill half way though the season and we would have characters (add Kim, Billy Boy, Chloe and everyones favorite transivite Audrey) that we know and could follow untill Jack comes. I It would add credibility to the show and refresh it a bit.

I would like to see a "cuban missle crisis" type season with 24 and I think one future season should be a "country in war" type. I mean it wouldnt be too hard of a strech given how crisises they have to had to endure over the last few years.

I would also like to see them introduce a few characters that are somehow related to earlier characters we have seen in the first few seasons. I mean a character such as Nina's evil revenge seeking sister or George Mason's son trying to uphold his fathers legacy would be kick arse. Or maybe even Tony's brother could appear played by Chave Guerruro.

the only way I could really see the movie tying into how the show is presented, is to do a whole season, than the last 2 or 3 hours of the finale are the movie

Sutherland Reveals '24' Movie Plans
http://ia.imdb.com/media/imdb/01/I/61/23/48s.jpg Hollywood actor Kiefer Sutherland (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000662/) has confirmed popular TV drama 24 (http://imdb.com/title/tt0285331/) is to hit the big screen. Sutherland, who plays federal agent Jack Bauer on the show, recently joked a spoof version would make great cinema viewing. But he now tells MTV.com plans for a straight blockbuster film are already in motion. He says, "The 24 movie would be a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day. That would be the first time that we would not do something in real time, but the characters would obviously all be derivative of the show. The timing issue is something the writers are working on right now. But the sky's the limit at that point for them, because we would not be restricted by the time element."

Here in the UK, my 21 year old sister and I watched episode 12 where Edgar dies. I was a bit surprised at my sisters reaction: She burst into tears!!! Got to say season 4.

It had so many awesome moments. The almiedanatator coming back and later being reinstated, Jack returning to CTU and shooting the captive in the leg (I swear Im a hetrosexual male but I got a massive erection from that), Jack in the hospital wing choosing the Chinese prisoner over Audrey’s Husband and Palmer and Novack showing their still have it. I swear I have never marked out so much.

Special mention to season 2. Season one made me like 24 but season 2 made me love 24. Mason’s death was just immense, Jack, Palmer, Tony and Michelle where all great in it, Sherry and Nina’s return were massive mark out moments and it had a great story line. Kim’s role in it was what made season 4 better. She had a number of crap storylines in it (the babysitting, the cougar and the creep with the bunker) and she had too much focas.

Season 1 was good but the later seasons improved on it in terms of structure, ideas and characters. Season 3 was just lacking.
