Tell me your thoughts on the most overrated ______ in wrestling.

Most over rated match, wrestler, tag team, federation, manager, announcer, ect...

I think the most over rated wrestler is Sting. His crow gimmack was the shit before he wrestled.

I think TNA is over rated as well, I can't sit through an entire 1 hour show.

Match - Undertaker vs. Mankind, Hell In A Cell

Good match, but not the all-time classic that people make it out to be. There were only about ten moves actually performed during the course of the match. The high spots were fantastic, among the best ever, but there were lengthy gaps of nothing between them.

Wrestler - Steve Austin

Don't get me wrong, in his prime there was no one better. However, WWE ran him into the ground in the latter years of his career. He put on some phenomenal matches throughout the 1990s, but over the last five or so years, every time he shows up, it's the exact same routine. He goes through the motions, but he's lacking the edge that made him...what's the word...watchable during the Attitude era. But every time he comes back, it's like Christ himself is walking through the curtain, and he swallows up massive amounts of air time like he was still a main-eventer. Then he gets his feelings hurt and goes home, only to be welcomed back with open arms a few months later. Lather rinse repeat.

Bret and Flair = EXTREMELY over-rated. Don't misunderstand, they were good, but they weren't that good. Same match week in week out, no charisma, just a couple of great matches in their legacy (Bret/Michaels, Flair/Steamboat)

Oh yeah, WrestleMania XX was utter crap (except for the closing moments.)

WrestleMania X-8: The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
Most. Overrated. Match. EVER.

Smarks over rate Samoa Joe a lot too, though I wouldn't say he is the most over rated, he does get far too much credit.

Bret Hart is far too over rated by Canadians and smarks alike.

Christian isn't as god in the ring as some people here give him credit for.

Jeff Jarrett is over rated...in that so many people place all of TNA's problems on him, trust me TNA has ALOT of problems, some of them bigger then Double J...so I guess he is over rated in terms of blame worthiness.

Hebners are over rated as refs...guys seriously they are fucking refs, a trained monkey could do their job.

Billy Kidman, Brian Kendrick, Paul London, Jamie Knoble, in fact most WWE cruiserweights (or former as certain cases may warrent) are far too over rated.

The Dudley Boys.

Owen Hart...he was good no doubt, but don't make a saint of him just because of his death.

Love Flair, but the figure 4 = most overrated finisher.

I must agree. Owen was great, but since his death he gets way more credit than he should have ever had.

Matt Hardy is overrated. He was a good tag guy, but once he broke away he's been shit. I mean, he's not horrible as a singles, but he isn't "next big thing" good. Same with Jeff, truthfully. (Hi Shadow... )

Ric Flair is overrated. I own and saw the Ultimate Flair Collection, and even in his hayday he wasn't God-like. He was a good wrestler but a better entertainer. Don't think I didn't like ANY of his matches, though. His matches with Steamboat were subperb.

I think Bret Hart is overrated. I haven't see much of his work, but from what I have seen, he was good, but not that exciting in the ring.

Rob Van Dam is overrated, too, in my opinion. The guy is good, not overly fantastic, wet thyself. His ECW stuff, from what I've seen is more exciting, but his WWE stuff has been strike, strike, rolling/flipping move, springboard kick. This could probably be attributed to the WWE, though. The same limits have been put of guys like Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Jamie Noble, etc.

Chris Masters & Carlito are overrated in terms of how bad they are perceived. Carlito is quite good. If people can wet themselves over a toned down Van Dam and blame it on the WWE, people should wet themselves over a toned down Carlito and blame it on the WWE. Chris Masters isn't exactly fantastic these days, but it's not his fault he's been given the spotlight, and he has done everything asked of him to the best of his ability. The guy has a nice powerslam, too.

John Cena as a talent is extremilly overated. For years smarks and marks alike have been saying he is the savoir of the wwe. He has been in the main event picture now for a year and he has flopped yet most refuse to put the blame on him and try and shift the blame on the wwe. Face it guys he dosnt have that much talent and should at least take alot of the blame of him being a shit face.

Jeff Hardy is preety overated as well. Same with Brock Lesnar

Wrestler: The Rock. The guy had charisma out the ass, to be sure, and could carry pretty good matches, but I can't remember one time he ever put on a show-stopping match or cut a promo that wasn't just opening up his big book of catch-phrases. A good performer, certainly an extremely successful one, but I never saw what was such a big deal.

Match: The Iron Man Match at WM12. I'm a big fan of both guys, and the two of them had spectacular matches across the board, but this one was just kinda dull (notice that during long periods in the match, the crowd is pretty dead) Their ladder match at SS '92 was way better, in my opinion.

Booker: Vince Russo, in terms of the actual damage he did to WCW. Yeah, he had tons of really awful decisions and drove away lots of viewers, but to be perfectly honest, those viewers were already leaving long before Russo showed up. He arrived to WCW in the wake of the nWo invasion which, while it made tons of money during its heyday, dragged on a good 2 years too long and left the WCW roster without any credibility. Russo gets tons of flak for being the man who "killed" WCW, but I really just think he was the last nail in an already closed coffin.

Promotion: Ring of Honor. IWC smarks will sing its praises to kingdom come, but it's really just a second-rate version of TNA, which in and of itself is a second-rate version of WCW and WWE. Not to say there isn't anything good to come out of RoH, but it's hardly shaken up the wrestling world like they wanted to.

Bret and Shawn's ladder match was just on a house show. They had a regular match at SS 92.

Shelton's good, but he's still quite a raw talent. When he's in matches against the top guys (Angle, HBK etc) he can pull off a very good match. It's when he's amongst the mid-carders we see the flaws in him. But he's one for the future IMO.

Rey Mysterio is the most over rated star in the wwe. How can a cruiserweight wrestle to become a world heavyweight champ???
no saying he's extremely acrobatic in the ring but he's not the real deal.

Some guys may think Cena is overrated and can't wrestle:rant: . your wrong guyz
the champ wrestled superb in ovw where he nailed Batista for the heavyweight title  and if ya remember he even defeated Chris Jericho on his first pay per view VENGEANCE 2002 :naughty: and u know what he was wearing traditional tights in that match.

No offense, but I am willing to bet I have seen more Dudley matches then...well, just about any one around here. And I know that the Dudleys took place in TLC, but really watch those matches, the Dudley's contribution to those matches were wonderful, but incredibly breif. Plus if you want to see some good Dudley shit, watch them at the end of their ECW run, more specifically their matches with Spike & Balls. Great team no doubt. But I don't see them as any type of Icon of Tag Wrestling. Personal view.

Rob Van Dam's performances in the ring in the last 2 years have been lazy and uninspired, and so for this reason, I'd like to nominate Mr Monday Night. He's gone from one of the most resourceful and motivated workers in the business to someone who was going through the motions in the tag division.

You could say some of the blame has to be shifted to creative but if the guy can't adapt and evolve to the style which is desired from management then it's his own fault. It'd be great to see how long his desire (and push) lasts after his return. Perhaps by Summerslam he'll be back in the tag division again.
