What did you think of Smackdown this week? Here are my thoughts...
1. JBL squashed Lashley? What was all that about? Lashley, the next real deal loses to JBL in 2 minutes. Granted he won the match, but it really hurt his momentum in my opinion.
2. BABYFACE ANGLE!!!!:D :D :D
3. JBL V.S. Boogeyman will suck as a 'wrestling match' but it's sure to be entertaining. I heared Boogeyman is a crap wrestler and I doubt he'd even be able to lift JBL for his finisher, but what the hell, it'll be a laugh. But it's taking up a SD match spot for RR, while Raw's will probably be a better match like Triple H v.s. Big Show II?
4. Finlay looking good in his debut, a lot better than I was expecting. Hopefully a feud between Hardy & Finlay begins.
5. Mark Henry defeats Rey Mysterio............................................................... People, thumbs up if Rey V.S. Angle would've been SOO much better!!!:y: :y: :y:
6. Orlando Jordan turns babyface and puts on 'in my opinion' his best match yet against WWE. Fans weren't really behind him though and with his new bisexual character, they'll never get behind him.
7. Finally, Daivari is on Smackdown! This is great for Smackdown. Great for him as he is a cruiserweight and SD is 'shockingly' for cruiserweights. SD now has one of the best heel managers ever!!!
What are your thoughts on SD this week?

Ummm... JBL did not squash Lashley. It was back and forth for a bit until JBL used his experience advantage and almost won. But he didn't.
... might wanna look up 'squash match'.

Lashley has momentum? Because I've really seen fuck all of late to motivate him higher. Now, I'm not saying I don't like him, but
2. BABYFACE ANGLE!!!!:D :D :D
Amazing, isn't it? They finally figured it out.
3. JBL V.S. Boogeyman will suck as a 'wrestling match' but it's sure to be entertaining. That's the problem. I could imagine it being good for a laugh, but not something I'd pay for. Neither wrestler is a huge draw to a PPV for me. The program so far has been good (Despite the "eat the growth" bit going on too long), but not PPV worthy, especially when I know JBL can't WRESTLE for shit.
4. Finlay looking good in his debut, a lot better than I was expecting. Hopefully a feud between Hardy & Finlay begins.
Yup. He did. Hardy will not feud with him though. Matt will probably be booked to go whine on Myspace.
5. Mark Henry defeats Rey Mysterio............................................................... People, thumbs up if Rey V.S. Angle would've been SOO much better!!!:y: :y: :y:
I don't get it. They want Kurt to get injured?
6. Orlando Jordan turns babyface and puts on 'in my opinion' his best match yet against WWE. Fans weren't really behind him though and with his new bisexual character, they'll never get behind him.
I don't think the fans quite knew who to cheer for until Benoit came out. Before that, the reaction seemed to be based primarily on who had momentum. I'm thinking his turn was too ambiguous (Like his sexuality...ZING!)

Yeah because of a distraction. Lashley gets three moves in before JBL destroys him. That's saying it would take JBL(a man who needed help to beat Spike Dudley in his title reign) could beat Lashley in two minutes.

Hmmm...Did LAshley look strong? yes.
Did it look like Lashley could have legitimately "come back?" Yes.

I'm going to say this, and everyone can agree/disagree as they like.
Putting Rey Mysterio in a spot for the World Title is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Personally (not speaking for everyone else), I find Mysterio to be horribly, HORRIBLY overrated. In fact, I'd rather see Mark Henry or Masters (he's grown on me a bit) as champion as opposed to Rey Mysterio, simply because it isn't realistic. And I know, WWE isn't exactly the token of real world occurances, but geez. Actually making Mysterio look like he could beat Henry? Ridiculous. Even though Henry won, it still aggravates me.

has Lashley won any title of note or beaten anybody of note? JBL was the world champion, of course he's gonna get the upper hand in the match

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. The guy's popularity is second to none. It's just a personal tick is all. I mean, I'd rather see a smaller entertaining guy in the ring than a huge beast with no charisma. I just personally feel that it's a bit of an odd situation. Like I said, just me though.

I'm personally not a Rey fan eathier. Never really liked watching the guy. But I dunno, you look at his whole career until now and he's come such a long way in terms of being able to cut it on top. I think they could pull off a run with him and the Spanish audience would just go nuts.
UmbrellaCorporation
01-21-2006, 04:59 PM
Absolutely agreed 100%. And even more than the Spanish audience. Seems like everyone's hot for the guy, and although I personally don't like him, I can understand why he gets the huge pops that he does. Mainly because he actually makes an effort to make the matches look good (or at least it seems that way). I think the Cruiserweights are shit on horribly, and even though I'm not a Mysterio mark, I still think it's pretty cool that he's able to pull in the reactions that he does.

Putting him in the ME scene and putting the title on him are two different stories. Rey is a major draw, overrated or not. In fact, the more "rated" someone is, the better off it is for the company.

The real problem here is they gave us two choices, neither of which LOOK good. Henry can't perform for shit, but really, Rey can't either.

SmackDown! was alright in this week. Finlay came in, and I was expecting him to be sluggish, but he worked a really good match with Hardy. I can see him being a successful "Hardcore Holly" act, where he works well with people when he needs to, but I can't see a division being based around him. I doubt he will feud with Hardy. I'm expecting a Regal vs. Finlay Rumble Qualifying Match next week.
These Gymini guys don't really interest me. Maybe it's because they're in the ring with two guys I mark out for even though I have no reason to think they'll win a match, Paul London & Brian Kendrick. Kendrick & London look so good as a tag team, they pull off all this fancy stuff, and if they were given a chance they could revive the tag team scene with MNM and The Mexicools and even The Dicks. I haven't seen enough of Mike & Todd Shane to make a judgment of whether or not they're good, but it seems to me like having London & Kendrick job to these guys is like The Hardy Boyz jobbing to T&A constantly, instead of being in the Tag Team Title program.

The funny thing about Gymini is they don't even have a separate page entry for each.
