View Full Version : Smackdowns breath of fresh air.

So, I've been looking at things recently, and Finlay is the closest thing that Smackdown has to a breath of fresh air. His matches are consistantly innovative, his style is believable, and although his promo skills aren't the greatest, his gimmick works well. I wish I could say that he would be pushed for a title run, but I doubt he will. I wish I could say that WWE would use him to his full potential, but I know they won't.

It would be good to tweak his gimmick slightly, because right now I'm concerned that he'll become just another "Anti-American." A gimmick that has all the flash and sizzle of a UPS Truck. (What can brown do for you?)

As people have mentioned, have him in matches with other strong technical wrestlers, let them showcase their talents. Put Finlay with brawlers, and let them go at it; I know a lot of you aren't going to like this, but Hardcore Holly vs. Finlay would be a fun match for Smackdown (not a PPV, necessarily). Alternatively, he could wrestle guys with speedy styles (see Brian Kendrick).

Finlay is a very versatile wrestler, and he should be showcased as such.

Also, isn't it sad that some of the oldest guys on the roster are also the most entertaining? (see Ric Flair, Finlay)

Check this out, I agree that Finlay is decent. Decent at best. But god, shut the fuck up about him. The first 21 topics you guys did on Finlay weren't that great, and neither is he. Get off this.

Dude, BB just put forth a seriously good argument in defense of Finlay. The other guys were all "Finlay is a fighting irish bastard blah blah blah FINLAY bah gawd JR Hossgasm."

Credit where it's due, this is the first serious Finlay topic I can name. And the guy is solid (Which fucking surprised me).

I, too, will give credit where credit is due.
He's not half bad, but if he wasn't 348733 years old I'd say he can go a long way, but as I see it now, he might score the US title.
No, he's not like The Boogeyman who started at 40. I recall a few Finlay matches from WCW, and he was good. If they would have picked him up sooner I'd say he'd be able to carry the heavyweight title down the road.

The diff between him and the Boogeyman is the Boogeyman will hold the world title sometime in the next 2 years. Finlay will not

But don't say that to his face.

Can I call his mother a cocksmoker to his face?

Depends on if he's sober or drunk.

If he's sober, he'll take it as a compliment.

Finally a serious Finlay post.

I think because of his age, he will be upper-mid-card tops. He's is a good worker and has a unique and effective style, which I agree is refreshing to see. But his age is a problem.

I quite like his style.

Hardkore Holly vs. Finley would be like...a technical masterpeice on par with Angle vs. Benoit. A match made in heaven.

And with luck...they'll both destroy each other.

Yeah, I'm glad this was a erious topic for once. I saw "Finlay" when I highlighted this and I was reaching over to grab the Banhammer, but then I read it and all was well.

Also, Splaya you are retardeded.

Finlay wont last that long due to his age imo.

The problem is that the company has never pushed anyone (who doesn't have any pull) as an all around guy (except I guess Eddie). Burchill has the ability to wrestle the Cruiser and the brawler and the technical styles, but they push him as a torture guy.

Finlay looks like good US Title material. Does anyone have any clips of matches of him in his prime? Cuz I hear that he's not bad (and if he's "debuting" in the WWE at age 50, he's gotta have some talent, right?), but most of it is SGD cumming all over the guy, which in turn has made me hate him the way I despise X-Pac.

Finlay is good so far. He's not the best, nor, the worst.

His DQ gimmick is cool; "I'll give you something to DQ me for". FINLAY.....KENNEDY.... There's something. A future tag team based on last names. Might be dumb enough to work.

For a stoner, that's a great idea... Then again, for anyone, that's a great idea!

Fit Finlay was pretty fucking good in WCW. Especially around the Benoit/Booker T best of 7 angle. The original best of 7 series was for a shot at the US or TV Title, which was being held by Fit at the time.

Its not a dumb idea I don't think, Finlay/Kennedy would be a good tag team, but they would be stuck on velocity knowing WWE.
