*sends Rob PM's with fake results*.
and then, "No Chance, that's what you got" plays and Vince walks down to Octogon side and while Lidell is looking confused "Here comes the money" Shane O'Mac jumps the cage and hit lidell with a chair...
Coture locks him in a choke...
it's over, Couture has joined the corporation...
You know, WWF once tried to buy the UFC and have Shane McMahon run it.

Wait, why would you be back here... I mean, if you want us to post here so we don't ruin it... why would you be reading... (oh wait, you must own one of those new fangled watch thingies...) :P
Had a PPV issue, missed the first fight, now ordering food and going down to watch the rest.
As to your originally comment, I remember something about that... Although, from anything I've seen/heard Dana (I forget the owners last name) he's as cocky if not more then Vince McMahon.
Although, I've always said, you'll rarely find a succesful person who isn't a bit cocky/arogant... you have to be to get to "that point".
I wish Vince would bring back that pro body builder fed :) :p

From the Observer
Nick Diaz vs. Joe Riggs is opening the show. Riggs came into the cage at 202 pounds after weighing in at 169 yesterday. Is that insane?
How is that even possible?

Wow... some good fights...
Was hoping to see Mir do better, but he's gotta expect some rust.
Monson is simply a monster, kinda funny when Hinkle woke up and he fliped out cause he didn't beleive he went out and if you didn't see it I mean out... like imagine if a WWE sleeper hold was real, they had an incredible camera shot and you saw his eyes glass over.
That kick by Vera was sick and him inviting everyone to his wedding.
Of course, Lidell over Coture... too bad Cotures foot slipped, but I think Lidell would have won anyway, what a striker and then Coture announcing his retirement... and on the way out signed every autograph and took every picture... was funny seeing the look on his GF's face when a chick would wrap around him for a picture.
Only thing I didn't like which might have more to do with Dana then Lidell was when Lidell won he went through this list of sponsers and what bar he was going to party at after... he was handed a slip of paper beforehand... I dunno, just seemed a little much,,, thank the trainers and such, but the sponsers...
Also, I must say, I really, didn't like when they were doing the final match the ring announcer pluging sponsers... I know UFC needs to make money and all, but I thought that was a bit much...
Anyway, some great fights...
Anyone know if they've set a date for the Gracie v. Hughes? I'm guessing UFC 60, sometime in May... Although, with UFC 60 being at arrowhead pond, they might put it their to go for the extra seat sales... (I'm just assuming Arrowhead holds more then mandalay bay...
Also, I'm suprised UFC isn't running into any issues for anehiem... I always thought the whole reason the stick to Vegas and Native American reservations was to avoid general sports/gaming commsions in other states...

Wow...I can't believe Randy wants to hang them up. Great career but I hate to see him go.
Regardless...

yeah, sad to see Coture go, and he could probably still beat 1/2 the guys out there, but what does he really have to prove? The best right now in Lidell (in that weight class) and he's 1-2 against him, how many fights would he have to have before he'd get another shot at Lidell? just isn't worth it at this point.
Also the last few years have been rather up/down it's not like this was a loss that ended a big win streak. 3-3 in his last 6 fights.

Most of the fights were quick, with the exception of the Diaz/Riggs. I was surprised that Diaz and Mir lost, Diaz seemed a bit too eager/aggresive focusing too much on offense. That Vera guy looked pretty impressive too.

Very entertaining ppv imo. Lot's of really good finishes, and if not good finishes, a good 3 round war like diaz/riggs. Riggs surprised me and showed a dickload of heart...particularly after gaining 30 pounds back, he must have been gassed.
Cruz/Mir was saddening, but the finish to the fight was really gruesome. Vera's knockout was absolutely devestating. I thought the guy was dead, personally. Good submission by Monson, and Sobral really took Van Arsdale to school.
Great knockout by Lidell, it's amazing how he can pretty much one punch everyone.
Buentello vs. the next guy (can't remember his name) was a fucking war, and ended the ppv on a high note.
Sobral's next for lidell? I dunno...

Erm... I posted like 3 hours before the show started. I was long gone by first bell.
As for the show, I thought Nick Diaz won against Joe Riggs but he only has himself to blame for not doing anything much in the 3rd round. The second round I thought Diaz won but I can see why people thought he lost (I think some people confused him fighting on his back as him losing). The judge who scored it 30-27 needs a drug test immediately. Diaz was in phenominal shape and was never going to gas so he should have taken the fight to him constantly.
As for the poster boy Frank Mir...
I think Mir could be in trouble on Sunday. His style is BJJ and he is fighting a world champion Brazilian Ju-Jitsu fighter and Mir has already shown that he folds like origami under pressure from strong fighters e.g. Ian Freeman.
It looked like he got worried when his leg went out and he blatantly wanted the doctor to stop the fight when he checked the cut but he couldn't quit himself.. He was right about being away too long though. He seriously needs to regroup.
Randy Couture's entrance was fucking electric. I had the same excitement for this fight as I used to get for the big heavyweight boxing fights. UFC has long passed boxing now in my opinion. Fight went pretty much like I thought it would (someone seriously just needs to rush Liddell from the bell and zap his strength). I watched all the guys from the first fight to last thinking about how great Nick Diaz looked conditioning wise. Then Randy comes out and looks in unbelievable shape for any MMA fighter, nevermind a 42 year old. Glad he hung up the gloves now though. He has been a true warrior and the best spokesperson for the UFC there has ever been or probably ever will be. Gotta get Rampage into the Octogan now though for a fight with Liddell while Tito Ortiz rebuilds his career.

I think Forest Griffin is fighting Ortiz in the near futre, I would love to see Ortiz get fucked up. There is such a depth of talent in the UFC/MMA, alot of guy will be challenging for top spot soon as the sport progresses further. In alot of fighting sports (aka boxing), you don't get that, one guy hold the belt for 5 years and defends it 4 times. I couldn't agree with you more Rob when you call guys like Randy a warrior. It's great to see the respect between the fighters as well (With the excaption of a few cases)
Ain't no way Forrest Griffin is whooping Tito's arse. They are booking Tito perfectly. His name gives Griffin the rub then he'll whoop Shamrock again before getting another title shot. WWE can't even book this simple and they can fix their own matches.

I dunno, Griffin could possibly beat Ortiz. It's a long shot...but remember, we all thought Sanchez was gonna get taken to school by Diaz.
Forrest is really well rounded, while Ortiz is basically just a ground guy. And we haven't seen Forrest's takedown defense tested. this kid went over 10 minutes with Jeremy Horn in his 4th fight, he's not a joke.
Don't get me wrong, Ortiz is probably going to win, but don't write Forrest off, it's stupid to do so.
Nah you can't write off anyone in a fight really. I just think Tito has got a lot to prove right now and he knows it.

The Brandon Vera KO was awesome.. Dude landed directly on top of his head..
AWESOME
The Monson submission was badass too.. That dude is a f'n pittbull..
I felt bad for Couture but he has had a great career.. Just wish he could have won his final fight..
Liddell is a maniac..
Good PPV..

Hear Diaz and Riggs had a re-match at the local hospital after the PPV. Apparently Diaz sucker punched Riggs before kneeing him in the head a few times.
Diaz is a smart kid. Losses a fight but causes enough stir to make people still wanna see him.

How High came on USA last night and Chuck Liddell is in it, fighting at the party..
Win or lose for Tito, Chuck still has his number
Possibly. I think anyone who wants to beat Chuck that badly now has to be in phenominal shape so they can take Liddell up to and probably past the 3rd round of a fight. Chuck might look in great shape but his stamina is always questionable and I personally don't believe he can go full force for 5 rounds like Couture or Ortiz can.

pretty solid show overall
disappointing to see mir beat so bad, they needed him bad in the hv division. gotta give him credit, he was pure class after the match.
aa has one fight left on his contract and they better get some quality guys for him to fight or he is gonna go to pride to prove himself.
chuck is on fire right now. it has to be babalu next and as much as i like him i think chuck is too good for him right now. then they NEED to get rampage in, again i think chuck redeems his loss to jackson.
diaz and riggs was very good. i gave to 2nd to riggs, landed more blows and defended against nicks subs well. i think diaz shoulda tried to bring it to the ground more instead of trying to trade with an obviously bigger and better banger. some real heat after with these guys, diaz is a hype machine and know how to stay in the game. rematch will be coming soon.
vera could be a big star in the future, has real good skill and personality. one of the best post fight interviews.

Rampage only has a one fight left on his Pride contract from what i've read on a few MMA sites.
I think he'd be mad to turn down a UFC contract at the moment. The chance of a title shot and the exposure would seem a good trade for the initial drop in fight money.

I don't have to give him credit. I would have if he admitted he got scared when his leg buckled and he didn't want to fight when the doctor checked him. He is grossly overrated anyway. Probably not even top 10 heavyweights.
I still don't understand why the UFC didn't go for Daniel Puder or Sean O'Haire.
