Has everyone noticed that for years and even to this day movie critics talk about the movie, "Cable Guy" like it was so bad that it nearly ruined Jim Carey's career.

Now, i'm not easily ammused when it comes to movies, but i dont see what is so bad about "Cable Guy". I think it's one of Carey's funnier movies.

So why is the media so Hell-bent on making "Cable Guy" out to be the worst movie ever made?

It was such a surprise movie for him. Even when it was released people were expecting it to be a comedy much like the movies he'd made to the point. When it turned out to be different, it seemed to confuse/frustrate his fans. I think it's a movie that is better reviewed years later. I for one, think it's a pretty good movie. Not great, but not bad.

I watch it everytime it's on. I thought the part where Carey leaves like 35 voice messages for him was hilarious.

I liked it. Most of his recent movies right now are snoozers.

I really liked when they went to "Medieval Times"

Good movie. I never understood completely why it got a bad rep either.

Like someone above said, it was because he had Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, and possibly Ace Ventura 2 (I can't remember if Ace 2 came out before or after Cable Guy) so naturally, people thought it was going to be another slapstick, hilarious movie.. and it was more of a dark comedy.

The thing is, a lot of that had to do with Carey's younger fanbase. I don't care how old you were... almost everyone of all ages loved Carey because he was just so damn funny. But if you were like, 11 or 12 when Cable Guy came out, you probably weren't going to enjoy it as much, and I'm sure it frustrated some parents as well.

So yeah, it's definetely a movie best reviewed in retrospect. It wasn't great, but it wasn't a shitter like some thought. It was just his first venture off-course after hitting superstardom.

Steven: Can I get a knife or fork?

Wench: There were no utensils in medieval times, hence there are no utensils AT Medieval Times. Would you like a refill on that Pepsi?

Steven: There were no utensils but there was Pepsi?

ROFL

I was never a big fan of Jim Carrey but Cable Guy is a really good show. I vaguely remember it getting panned on the whole, but getting good reviews from some critics.

Jim Carrey has only made one half decent movie - Man On The Moon.

I think I fall into the category of the mindless Ace Ventura zombies 'cause I thought Cable Guy was terrible and unfunny as shit when I saw it

lol I know someone who was a wench at a Medieval Times. She met her boyfriend there, he was (probably still is, actually) a knight's assistant aka Squire.

The company that put the movie out (A branch of SonY) Couldn't get a single winner out that year. They were more or less panned critically and at the box office.

I thought it was hilarious (For a Jim Carey movie) and overall a decent flick. but then again, I'm not the type of person who ran out to see his movies either, so it was hard to disappoint me. The nly ones I've seen in theater are Cable Guy, Ace Vemntura 2 (And only because someone else paid) and Bruce Almighty.
