So after reading the MGS 3 ending thread, i realized its the damn good games that really bring you into the story, make you feel the characters pain and trials. As awesome as MGS 3's ending was, i began to wonder, what video games really bring out the emotion in you? weither it be fear, sadness, happiness, whatever. Im not talking a jump out cheap Resident Evil moment, im talking a big twist in the plot. For me, i think the most depressing thing ive ever felt in a video game is Silent Hill 2 and the ending: In Water. MGS3's ladder climb was a big one, and MGS1's Sniper Wolf/Meryl/Snake moment was awesome.

FF 7 made me misty-eyed the first time I played it. That was the most unexpected death I'd ever seen in a video game, and the music made it ten times worse. For the sake of spoilers, I won't reveal what, but those who have played it know what I'm referring to.

Or I could just put the spoiler in black, but that takes work. :shifty:

FF7- After you defeat God Sephiroth, you have to fight him but you automatically get the Omnislash (for the record, I never got the Omnislash because it would be too easy to win). I remember the first time I beat the game (I beat it 4 times, start to finish), I was all dancing around and then I heard psshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and Sephiroth's music. And I just turned around with chills down my spine.

Suikoden spoilers**

Yeah, A bunch of scenes in the first 3 games are great

Suiko 1

Gremio's death, Teo's death, Pahn's "death."

Suiko 2

Final battle against Jowy. Also, for an entirely different reason, Luca Blight's demise.

Suiko 3.

Luc :(

Not really a cinematic but the whole opera part in FF6 is awesome. The ending is as well, especially the part with Shadow and Relm

Luca Blight...God I hate that fight

Pahn's death is easily avioded, did it my first time through without even knowing he dies :o Preventing Gremio's is a little bit tricker, since it's more then just not hitting someone back.

Luca was such a bad ass :)

And yeah, Pahn's death is easy to avoid, hence my I put it in quotes. Storywise though, I think it's much cooler if he dies. It makes for a much better scene.

Ive just been playing Final Fantasy X and the bit where all the crusaders gather on the Beach to fight Sin with the Al Bhed and you know there just gonna get wiped out and the Yevon officials know it, and theres nothing you can do to stop it, and when it happens, watching the cinema really moved me

It's definitely been said, but the ending scene of MGS 3 was brilliant. Simply brilliant. I've beaten the game time and time again to see it. Plan to pick up Subsistence this week so I can watch it whenever I want in the media viewer thing.

Back when I was 14, Kakariko Village burning in OoT was pretty moving.

Final Fantasy 7- When Sephiroth burns Cloud and Tifa's village. Man, you just wanted to kill him, but you just wanted to love him at the same time

FFVIII - At the end of disc 1, when Rinoa's father is taking you through the plot of assasinating Edea. *SPOILERS*Up until that point, Irvine's been built up as this coolest-of-cool badass who can do anything without blinking. When the time comes for him to do his thing, he just breaks down crying because he can't kill somebody.*
So, yeah. Moving stuff.
