Notice that that was also around the time that they first tried to replace JR with Michael Cole.

The Rock = The Greatest Entertainer of all time.

Who cares, nobody watches his films to see great acting. The only film I liked of his was Scorpion King probably only because I love historic action films.

That falls into the fantasy/action genre, not the historic genre.

And when you say "entertainer", you HAVE to include acting. Unless, of course, you mean "SPORTS entertainer"...

Is fake wrestling even a sport?

Why does Vince call it "Sports Entertainment"?

He's not a bad actor. Easily the best crossover from wrestling to acting.

I'm happy someone finally said this:

The man was/is one of the greatest entertainers in the history of wrestling. Sure, his mat skills werent great, but he wasn't incompetant either. Also, some of his material made me wanna hang myself, but despite all this, I miss the guy like crazy. I'd slaughter many innocent cows and people to have him back on wwe tv weekly.

I loved the Rocks in-ring skil when I was a mark. I still think to this day that his wrestling ability is underrated

the crowd reaction in that video really stands out

As soon as his music hits, people explode with the pops (not boos). And then the Rocky Sucks chants start and it's like out of total respect though and you can see Rock's reaction is like "Yeah, I got these people eating out of the palm of my hands"

Then when tells Show "You are 3 seconds away from The Rock laying the smackdown on your candy ass" the people just go nuts

He was far more entertaining as Corporate Champ than 2001 onwards People's Champ, because some of his babyface material made me cringe sometimes.

also Big Show's mic work was like that of a child

"I'm surprised you heard it going through that thick skull of yours"

And can't anyone see that's the same thing that's happening with John Cena?

The Rock lost a lot of his mean streak as his character evolved, and thus, he just wasn't as funny. He also found himself running short of material due to being on every show. I think his best babyface material was done in 1999, because he hadn't completely turned into the "nice guy" under all the jokes yet.

Corporate Rock was the best. The look, the attitude, everything. Everything he did and said seemed all kinds of outrageous, and unbelievable. He's my favorite heel of the Attitude era, even over HHH. He was a true original.

But even The Rock wasn't immune to the "WWE Babyface Machine". Eventually, he slowly, but surely seemed to become more Rocky Maivia and less "Rocky Sucks". But at least Rock knew how to tease a heel turn. When he came back in the summer of 2001, he just had that look that made one think, "is he going to turn his back on the WWF?"

This wasn't when they tried to replace J.R. with Michael Cole. Jim Ross was ill with Bell's Palsy at the time and was feeding lines to Cole through his headset.
