View Full Version : Could WCW have pulled off a brand split?

I've read and heard many times that Bischoff wanted to split WCW and the nWo into brands, and that Thunder was supposed to be the nWo's show. It obviously didn't happen, but that would explain the reason for everyone and their mother (was Judy Bagwell ever in the nWo? :shifty: ) joining the nWo in the long run.

Do you think that WCW could have pulled it off sometime in 1999 or 2000? Forget about them going under in 2001. Could the nWo have survived as a stand-alone promotion, much like the WWE is doing with RAW and SmackDown!?

the reason it didn't fly was because nWo Nitro did a real shitty rating and they canned it. I'm gonna say no. BTW, I loved that Nitro. I still watch it all the time. Hall and Nash on commentary = Greatness.

Who would nWo fight?

Who would nWo fight?
It would have wound up being like RAW and SmackDown!... They would have fought each other.

I think it could have been done at nWo's peak in population. During the Wolfpac vs. Hollywood...WCW Officials could have done something where they found some law prohibiting a rival company from appearing on their program. nWo submits that Nitro is more about nWo then WCW anyway...World War Three comes and they have 10 nWo and 10 WCW guys in each of the three rings. Some nWo guy wins and takes over Nitro, then WCW announce they are starting up Thunder...Hollywood is Nitro Heel, Wolfpac is Nitro Face, and then over on Thunder the faces and heels do their thing.

Some might argue that nWo gets too much an advantage, but think about the facts that WCW on Thunder would have gotten Goldberg, the 4 Radicals, most all of the Cruisers (including Jericho at the time), basically everyone who if given the proper time can make a star out of themselves...where as Nitro gets a few lesser guys, only the older [albeit more over] guys, but they have all the momentum from winning the final battle against WCW.

I totally think that if done right, the WCW split would have gone over better then WWEs.
