I've always wondered this for a long time, and before any of you try to say that I'm barbaric or sick to even think of such a thing, let me explain myself.
At least in the WWE and WCW (maybe even ECW, though I can't say for sure about ECW), you never see any women wrestlers become even in the least bit bloody (maybe a busted nose or lip, but hardly any blood is visible even in that sense).
You always see the male wrestlers get busted open (huge blading) in matches, and have a bunch of different times where they are asked to blade. It tends to add a new dimention to the matches, especially hard fought matches.
However, the females tend to become rough and violent with each other when working matches, as well. However, not once would you see even a tiny bit of blood, even from a hit that would cause a male to bleed. Something doesn't exactly make sense here.
It could be that they are afraid to promote domestic abuse in this way, and/or maybe they don't want that kind of image. However, think of it this way: When and if Mickie James turns heel on Trish, her character could be so psychotic that she could do something that may cause a laseration on Trish, and make her character THAT much more vicious, because she has so much violent intent (and would make it that much more scary because of how much the character is supposed to be idolizing Trish, and the backstab would be enhanced by both that storyline and the blood).
I'm not saying that women shouldn't be subject to bloodbaths or anything like that. I'm saying that at some rare points, some blood wouldn't hurt on a woman wrestler to enhance a match or a storyline. I don't want to be seen as this barbaric piece of shit that endorces domestic abuse or anything like that. Just a bit more realism in the women's wrestling divisions (meaning the WWE's division and any others that might be out there).
So my question is, WHY?! What type of law, rule, or anything prevents this from happening? Also, has it ever happened in any promotion (ECW as far as I know never did, but I didn't watch too much ECW in their prime, so I'm not sure), and if so, where and when?
