Wow, that's a good thought provoking opening to a thread.

I used to like Scott Steiner, back when he was WCW champion, and was on a tear.
But, I also thought that Scott Steiner had Drop Foot Syndrome or something like that.
Which in reality is a huge detriment to his talent and should prevent him from wrestling as his current physical status would prevent him from putting on a good match. (See HHH vs. Steiner at Royal Rumble or No Way Out)
Which is why I honestly have no idea why the would shell out money for Steiner.
I mean, if they're going to shell out big money for a name, why not pick up Goldberg, I mean he's not fantastic by any stretch of the imagination, but at least he would provide big name recognition. Which is more than I can say for Scott Steiner.
And where are your thoughts?

If he can be like his WCW days, then great. It seems like every WCW star's post Invasion days were miserable in WWE.
I'd say the only one who has obtained moderate success is Booker T. He was the only one they've pushed hardest from the ones who came right over from the buyout.
well they probly got him cheap an he will be good in a bodyguard role for jeff an put him on the mic, but the only matchs he can do is maby tag matches.
What Would Kevin Do?

Meh. Was never a fan of the guy outside the Steiner Bros.
Also, This just makes TNA look and feel more like WCW v2

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Why spend big money on a guy for him to be a bodyguard? Doesn't JJ have enough of an entourage? Won't his matches be terrible? Are we going to have to sit through a shitty Sting v Steiner match before we get the Sting v Jarrett pay-off? Weren't there about a dozen more talented big men out there that could've delivered a better match and gottne as much heat just by being in there against Sting? Hell, copuldn't you have given us Abyss v Sting or turned Lance Hoyt and gotten the same heat as apossible Sting v Steiner match?
Bottom line: is Scott Steiner really that much of a draw? I seriously doubt they got him "on the cheap." So this is just another in a seemingly endless series of inexplicable booking decisions by TNA.

TNA is so dumb imo.
They think they can compete with wwe but they can't. They can't even get any good stars, they keep picking up guys wwe fired for sucking. I mean steiner is good on the mic and can make a good manager but he can't wrestle and is too old. Sting is too old too. If TNA wants to compete with the wwe (lol) they need to start making some stars or get someone good from the wwe but it seems they can't or don't want to.

What were my thoughts when I saw Steiner on Destination X last night???
WHY GOD WHY!!!!!!! Why the hell did TNA shell out the money for him...of all people. When will they learn that no one tunes in for the heavyweight action...X-Division is TNA

This just contradicts that insanely stupid thread of yours where supposedly Mania is "Make it or Break it" for the WWE in terms of falling from the top. Make up your mind fuckstick!

I said it before, and I will say it again...this can either be a gold mine or a money pit. Scott Steiner was THE reason to watch WCW in it's dying days. If he can recreate any level of that era of his career he will pay off for TNA, if however he is anything like his run in WWE it's a lost cause. Bringing him in as a heel was the first sign that they are taking Scott in the right direction...I am willing to hold off on judging this until I see some of his current abilities.

No way, I said WWE will start to fall from the top if they don't do wrestlemania right and that would give tna a chance but as of right now if wwe does not do anything stupid, tna has no chance to get on top at the moment.

Yeah, but the thing is that Cena's losing the title and Henry is losing to Taker. So there ya go, when (not if) that happens, according to you, WWE is going to bomb right then and there.

Vermaat...TNA isn't even pulling in the ratings or the PPV buy-rates that ECW did. WWE may not being doing any special right now, but let's call a spade a spade here, WWE is a multi-hundred million dollar company, TNA is a company that literally has to ask Spike TV to foot the other half of the $800,000 bill that it cost to bring Sting in for a year. There are a lot of guys on the TNA roster that get around $500 a show. WWE could bring Katie Vick back as the World Champion, have Boogeyman turn out to be Melina (who we all know is a transexual...right writing team?), and have only Shawn Michaels matches played on Canadian TV...and TNA STILL would be a few years away from catching up.
TNA can't compete with WWE, unless someone comes along, throws MILLIONS of dollars blindly at it and give it a Prime Time slot (ex: Ted Turner...actually they already have the prime time slot...let's say make it a 2 hour show and have millions thrown at it) it won't be competion for WWE no matter how good they do or how bad WWE does for quite some time.

His Belly-To-Belly is still one of the best in the world...though I am not sure I would call him a suplex machine (ESPECIALLY since he found the Ronderful Rorld of Roids). He is however a great brawler...well he isn't great so much as he can match other people's greatness.

God, the answer to TNA's problem is staring them in the face.
CHRIS FUCKING JERICHO
He is not under WWE contract, and has stated in interviews that he is willing to come back to wrestling if he gets Sting type of $$$. He is as talented in the ring as they come, GOLD on the microphone, has name value, multiple platforms to promote TNA (his music and his radio show), and CREDIBILITY!
SO, cut some useless shit (Elix Skipper, Konnan, A1, Cassidy Riley, Sonjay Dutt, Lance Hoyt) and pay the man his money.
He is not washed up by any means, and still has EVERYTHING a promotion needs to get itself some attention.

As much as I would love the thought of Jericho being anywhere near a TNA ring, that time is long past. They already payed extremly overbudget just for Sting so Jericho is proably out of the question. Not to mention that half of the people you called useless shit are actually still entertaining to most people.
Even if TNA did want Jericho, unless they could keep it completely quiet the WWE would probably at least try to counter it with a much bigger contract. He may not have had the greatest run in the WWE, but even they know he can hit hard if he's playing on another team.

Not that this has anything to do with this thread, but are you fucking serious? You're saying that the WWE should have UT lose to henry because Henry is the guy to build around? Aren't you also the one who said that Angle was 'past his prime'? God, would you please shut the fuck up. You clearly have no eye for talent. You're like the forum's version of Isiah Thomas.

Stop. This is not people just mindlessly flaming you. There's an entire thread built around the fact that you can't accept the fact that John Cena is getting mixed reactions from the crowd and saying things like "WEL I DOT HEER IT ??11!1 BAD APPLES &* haters in the cROWD!!"
At some point, somene will beat UT and if the WWE had any sense they will give that particular honor to someone with real talent who they feel they can push to the moon.Mark Henry is e generic midcard brawler and always has been. If the company has any sense at all, there's no way in hell they waste that on Mark Henry. Make him look good in the match. Make him seem like a legit threat so that inevitable Batista rematch makes money. But no way does he go over.

In all fairness to Jeff Jarrett...uh he and his dad kind of single handedly created TNA originally. So, to say that TNA is looking to guys like Jarrett before Jericho would be kind of odd since he has been there from the start. However I agree with everyone that TNA's money would best be spent on bringing in Jericho...actually I personally think RVD is more of a fit for TNA then Jericho is, but Jericho has more name power...though thanks to the last few years of his WWE career...not much.
DDP wasn't a good choice, and I have no idea what the fuck they were smoking when Savage was mentioned as a good idea for them...Nash if done right could be great for TNA, love him or hate him, he is charismatic as all get out, has a loyal fan base (and don't post the picture of the Nash Fan Club...it's old and played out) and is one of the best mic workers on the planet...so long as he stays away from trying to give an english lesson. And I really think that Scott Steiner might be able to bring in a few more fans and really be a great upper card player, though never a Champion.
But you're right, if TNA could get Jericho...it would be GREAT for them. Bad move on Jericho's part (IMO) but a good move for TNA.
