We don't need a pool. Sadistic would just pee in it.
The WWE doesn't recognize it as the WCW championship. It's linage only goes back to Triple H. It's the World Heavyweight Championship, NOT the WCW championship.
The WCW championship's history is locked away in the WWE championship when it became the Undisputed Championship.

Which is truly unfortunate, as the WCW belt has so much history to it.
I wonder why HHH and the rest of the WWE did'nt allow the belt's lineage to carry on.

I dunno, it just seems like it would give the belt a whole hell of a lot more prestige and history if they had've kept it as it was.
-edit-
Also, when someone wins said belt, they could make a bit of a deal with it, saying that they have entered the realm of guys like Ric Flair, and Harley Race etc.

Harley Race never won the WCW Title.
He won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship...WHICH HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE WCW TITLE.
Oh and the (WWE) World Heavyweight Championship is NOT the WCW World Heavyweight Championship...INFACT the actual Title Belt used isn't even the same one that was used by WCW. When Eric Bischoff presented Triple H with the title belt it was an exact replica of the WCW Title, then a few weeks later they created another title belt with a similar model, but bent the gold plate a bit to give it a rounder feeling...they also made it smaller.
I follow title histories very closely, and anyone who sells the shit that the NWA World Heavyweight Title, the WCW World Heavyweight Title, and the (WWE) World Heavyweight Title are somehow connected either don't know what their talking about, or are full of shit.
Which title was the WCW title derived from anyway? Or was it something they just created?
I remember something about it being a US title or something.

On Jan 11, 1991 Ric Flair won the NWA World Title on a WCW program, it was at that point that WCW created the WCW Title, and seeing as how Ric Flair was NWA Champ, he was the first WCW Champ, HOWEVER the NWA and the WCW both kept their histories sperate from one another. WCW's first Champion was Ric Flair on Jan 11, 1991...no history before that.
As for why WWE probably didn't want to continue on with WCW's history behind the World Heavyweight Championship...my guess is Arquette/Russo, combined with god knows how many title switched and meaningless day or week runs...really the WCW Title isn't an example of a honored Championship post Goldberg...and trust me, three years of shitty booking is more then enough to distory the legacy created by the preceeding 8 years.

Oh and a quick note: why everyone bitched that Triple H was just handed the title (WHC) is beyond me. This is not uncommon. MANY World Titles have had their first World Champions been people who were awarded the belt for one reason or another...including the WWE Championship (Originally the WWWF World Heavyweight Championship).

Yeah "history dating back to the time of Abe Lincoln" my butt.
And no matter how bad WWE's booking gets, remember that at least their title hasn't switched hands to a 2nd rate actor to hype his new B movie.

WHO claimed that ANY Title currently in use dates back to Abe Lincoln?
The oldest "Pro Wrestling" Title is the American Heavyweight Championship, which would later be unified into the ORIGINAL World Heavyweight Championship (I admit, not the NWA...though the original World Title was unified into the NWA Title later on). That title was created when Ed "The Strangler" Lewis unified the American Greco-Roman Championship with the Catch-as-Catch Can Championship back in March of 1893.
The oldest Championship still in use today is actually the World Junior Heavyweight Championship which Albion Britt won in a tournament back in 1936 (and became an official NWA belt in 1948).
Abe Lincoln died in 1865 (for those of you who maybe don't know American History)...long before any title belts were around. Back then Pro Wrestling was more of a shoot fighting sport that went on tour with carnivals. While Abe Lincoln was a fan of the sport (again we're talking about original shoot fighting here) there were no titles, no "promotions", and no bookers.

Not on the air, though. That's the thing. There was that alleged tournament in Rio.

The World Heavyweight title also has the WWE logo on it. I think WWE should use the NWA/WCW lineage with the World Heavyweight title however.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! If WWE wanted to they could use the WCW lineage, but listen to me PLEASE. You can NOT find ONE reputable source that will say that the WCW Title has the NWA's lineage wrapped up in if! It just isn't true.
And Pepsi Man, would you rather that instead of Eric Bischoff awarding the title on air Hunter just show up on RAW and claim he had beat Chris Benoit (or whoever) in the Tournament Finals in Rio de Janiero? They could get away with shit like that back then because internet was years away, national television deals was still over a decade off, and because who the hell is going to call up Rio and ask their friends down in Brazil if somethign really happened? The world has gotten smaller over the last few decades, and unless they claim they had a tournament on Tatooine...everyone would know within an hour they were full of shit. Besides WWE now markets the fact that they are Entertainment and it's not real. So why try to pass fake tournaments off when you no longer try to pass fake hatred to sell tickets? It doesn't matter in today's world. As soon as Bischoff gave Hunter that (BRAND NEW) Title (WITH NO HISTORY BEHIND IT) and it was promoted above the other titles, it became worth more in the eyes and minds of everyone. Did you think the IC Title was better then the World Title? No. And the IC Title had a lineage that read like a Who's Who of professional wrestling. It no longer matters, Vince can't fake tournaments, and we all look at that as a reputable World Title...otherwise we all would still be bitching that Benoit never won the big one.

Honestly, I DID look at the Intercontinental Title as more prestigious (through markish views). As far as faking the tournament, you're right. You CAN'T today, but that's the thing. It's not the same as what happened with Triple H.
That's all I was saying there. What happened with Triple H was not the same as what happened with Buddy Rogers.
And come on. Just ask any WCW announcer from the 90s, 2000, and 2001; the WCW Title could trace its lineage back to 1905! - ;)

And Sadistic and his friends can trace their title made out of cardboard to 1734.
It's not, but you can't blame people for thinking it was.
Before the belts were unified by Jericho, Vince changed the name of the WCW heavyweight championship to the World Heavyweight championship, and thats' what the WCW title was called for a while.
Then a few months later a belt that looks exactly the same, with the exact same world heavyweight title name is brought up, it really should make the people who don't pay too much attention to detail think that the undisputed title was split up again.
but it obviously wasn't, and this is confirmed on wwe.com's title history, and by everything the one said. But i am guilty of thinking it WAS the wcw title back when i was a mark :o
