View Full Version : Gamedreamz.com: PS3 HD required to play games??

News direct from the horses mouth, Kurturagi's mouth, is that the PS3 will require a 60 Gb Hard Drive to play games. Thing is, Sony hasn't decided whether to ship the system with one or not!

The hardware was developed with the hard disk in mind," Kutaragi said at the event. "We view the hard drive to be mandatory for the PS3. Rather than have developers create games for the PS3 with or without the HDD, we will be asking them to develop games as though all PS3s have the HDD installed.

He continued saying that Sony hopes to avoid a situation where some units have the hard drive and others don't but then he said Sony "might end up installing it in all PS3s, though that depends on the market."

Am I the only one who thinks having to buy a peripheral to play games on a Game platform seems counter intuitive??

:wtf: so i mean, itd jus be retarded for them NOT to include a hard drive.

You call it retarded, I call it standard business procedure.

You know what? This is how they nickel and dime people. It's how they manage to dick people over. They've done this before, they'll do it again. This is probably the largest example in the video game industry, but you know what?

The retards will fall for it, and then buy the HD. It will sell like hotcakes. It could come without an AC adapter, a controller, or cords to hook it up, and no drive for games, and people would line up around the block. 10-20 people on this site alone would be posting how hotttttttt it is, and how much more ass it would kick once they got the power supply.

And nother 10-20 would piss and moan about how they went into a store, knowingly bought something that was incomplete, and are mad because they screwed themselves. Of course, they would blame Sony, but still.

Expect to pay about $200 more if you want to play all the good games.

At first I thought you mean HDTV in the title. Scared the shit out of me.

Ok Ok Ok

I'm supposed to be up on this crap, answer me this:

1. Can I play it on my small ass TV?

2. how much will it cost for the basics?

alvarado52

well, guess thats that, according to a link on that ign link provided, the HDD is required. This in turn means if a HDD is not included, that will make NO sense. I mean, were they thinking 'hey, lets bring out a video game console, but make them have to buy something seperate in order to actually play games on the console!'. KK had a great point earlier.

No, it's the hard drive, not a TV.

No offense, but how dense can you be?

I understand the problems with remaining tech literate and/or savvy, but this is just ridiculous.

It's HDTV compatible.

That has nothing to do with the hard drive.

You probably will be fucked sans online, and you will be fucked by the price (But I severely doubt 700 bucks).

Well the PS3 online stuff is gonna be like XBox Live stuff, which is pretty decent, and it will be free.

Back in the day of the PS2, it was easy, you just bouight it plugged it in and played it, now they've got all this tech. stuff added I dunno what the fuck any of it means.

Whats not to get?

If the HD is going to be external, then it will probably feature easy plug and play software.

If it's an internal HD then you wont have anything to worry about.

Just think of the HD as a huge version of the 8MB memeory cards.

alvarado52
03-16-2006, 12:13 PM
and really, thats probably all it will be used for if the PS3 goes the same route the PS2 did. Wait, the PS2 HDD couldnt even load saved game files from the HDD, NEVERMIND!

Just John
03-16-2006, 12:32 PM
Ok, I have no idea what the fuck an HDD is. I've understood this much:

-An HDD is this real big memory card that can save lots of shit.

-It may be inside the ps3 in which case no worries.

-It might not, and be like a memory card that you gotta plug in to use, trouble is it will cost... lots?

-You need the HDD thing to play the games, even if you aren't gonna use it to save

How much of that is right? And also, will havng an HDD inside the ps3 up the price?

Xero

You know how computers have Hard Drives? That's what it is, a Hard Disk Drive.

That's because game developers didn't make the games to recognize it. That's what they are doing with the PS3. I'm still happy I have my PS2 HDD because I only really need to use one memory card now.

You know how computers have Hard Drives? That's what it is, a Hard Disk Drive.

Ah, thanks for that, so its an intergrated memory card, but it might not be. Is the rest of what I said right?

DS
03-16-2006, 12:55 PM
Pretty much. I just don't see Sony releasing a gaming console without something necessary to play games. That doesn't make sense at all. Even if they had to up the price tag, they would put the hard drive in the bundle.

Just John
03-16-2006, 12:57 PM
I'm gonna get it June 07 what do you think the price will be by then?

no.

i say this, because you are probably too stupid to hook it up, not because your tv is small.
